I Wonder if Disney Will Get Mad if We Disassemble the Furniture. Sept/Oct 2024 TR! (Updated 12/20!)

How fun! I always wonder about these crafts. It might have been a special offering, but I could swear a saw a video of the one at either WL or Fort Wilderness and it actually included some snack food and beverage!
Oh, it is the one at Wilderness Lodge! Theirs is a bit more fancy since it includes some food and I think one or two drink tickets (marking art with wine is always better). We're planning on doing that one when we're staying there in June!

Your mosaic looks really cute. But it looks like you need to devote a lot of time to it. :)
Thank you! Yeah, it was about 2 hours at the class, and then probably another 30-45 minutes cleaning the tiles later in the day. I can see it being hard to fit into a trip, but we're going so often these days that we're trying to do a bunch of these other activities that they offer. I can't wait to do our next one!

This trip is so fun, I’m super enjoying reading along! I didn’t know about the special craft classes, I totally want to do the WL one on my next stay.
Thank you! Yeah, these activities are so fun! The one at WL is the next one we're planning to do, I can't wait!

I always say this is one of the most underrated Disney Movies. I love the music from it!
100%! It is such a great movie, and the music is SO good!
How fun! I always see the ads for these things, but never actually do it. I may have to look into it one of these days on an adult only trip.
I definitely recommend doing one, it is so fun and it's the coolest souvenir. We can't wait to do another one!

Day 4, Part 5: Narcoossee’s!

After the mosaic making class, we had some downtime before dinner so we rested a bit in the room before getting ready.

Around 4:15 I called for a Minnie Van and got one quickly. We made our way downstairs and the car arrived about 10 minutes later.

This evening, we were heading to the other side of the lagoon for dinner at the Grand Floridian!

Once we arrived, we made our way upstairs to the Enchanted Rose!

I had wanted to check this place out for years, so it worked perfectly to squeeze it in before our dinner tonight.

We had a short wait for a table, only about 5 minutes.

We ended up at a table right next to the window overlooking the splash pad.

Since we had dinner reservations in less than an hour, when we ordered our drinks we also requested the check. Our waitress seemed a bit peeved we asked for it already, but I’m glad we did since the service there was so slow!

It took about 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and another 10 for the check!

I got the Island Rose and mom tried the Floral Bitter Beauty.

These were just ok. Mine was kind of like a pina colada flavor, but had a weird undertone to it. My mom’s was fine, but nothing to write home about, she had been debating about the one she got and the Lavender Fog, and I think she probably would have liked the Lavender Fog better.

Since it took so long for the drinks to come out, we had to drink them pretty quickly, which wasn’t ideal, but it is what it is!

So while I’m glad we checked the place out, I think it’s a one and done for us. There are just so many better places on property to get drinks (looking at you Nomad)!

Once we wrapped up, we made our way back outside and over to Narcoossee’s!

We checked in and gave my phone number, then headed outside where there were some benches to wait.

It wasn’t a long wait, maybe 5-7 minutes before we got the text our table was ready, so we headed back inside and were brought back to our table.

Now here I had the hardest decision ever, what to eat!

We decided we wanted to try the seafood charcuterie, so we ordered that right away, but for entrees I had no idea what I wanted. I kept going back and forth between the NY strip and the scallops. My mom had proclaimed that if I get the scallops we’d order a bottle of white to split, but if I got the steak, then we’d each just get a glass of something but no bottle. So we couldn’t even order a drink until I decided!

Finally, I had to enlist the help of our waiter to make the decision. He said that of the two dishes, the steak was definitely the better one, so I ended up going with that! I also wanted to compare the NY strip here with the one at Flying Fish. I’ve seen both recommended, and I loved the one from Flying Fish before (and we would be eating at the Flying Fish again shortly after this). Mom got the shrimp bucatini.

I also ended up ordering a glass of malbec and mom got a glass of pinot gris.

Soon after the charcuterie arrived!

I’ve seen very mixed reviews on this, but we actually really liked it! The sausage was our favorite of the three.

We also got a boule of sourdough, which was so so good, it took a lot of effort not to eat the whole thing! But we had to save room for dinner!

Soon our entrees arrived!

Both dishes were really good, and I was shocked at how big the steak serving was! This was a ton to eat!

It was a really nice dinner, but so filling. We basically had to waddle out at the end of the meal!

After dinner we took the monorail back to the Contemporary.

Next up: Final Evening at the Contemporary!

I like Enchanted Rose (though I miss Mizner's and the orchestra that used to play). I think they did a nice job with subtle theming. I do agree the service can be slow. If you can believe it, it used to be even worse... they used to have a number of drinks that they'd wheel a bar cart over and prepare tableside. It was a really fun concept but just wasn't practical. I think Narcoossee's is just a delight. I adore the blackened redfish there. You have me thinking I need to go back soon. I'm rarely in the MK area or on the monorail line but it's definitely worth a visit. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!!

We had a similar experience at Enchanted Rose. It took forever to get our drinks. I think I preferred the decor of Mizners. It is a one and done for us, too.

I've always had trouble with the limited menu here. The steak is always delicious, but I usually want something lighter.

I miss the orchestra so much, I really hate that they got rid of them. We never had a chance to check out Mizner's, I'm kind of sad about that. I did like the atmosphere at the Enchanted Rose, but between the slow service, and subpar drinks, we don't feel the need to go back there again.

Narcoossee's was great, we hadn't been since maybe the 90s before this, so it was basically new to us! I'm glad we finally went back.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yeah, I'm glad we went once, but don't feel the need to go again.

The steak was so good! The menu is pretty small, but I'm happy that the things we got were really good!

Day 4, Part 5: Final Evening at the Contemporary!

We last left off heading back to the Contemporary after dinner at Narcoossee’s.

Before heading upstairs, we swung by the store to do a little shopping. I didn’t find anything I liked, was hoping there would be more Contemporary specific merch, but there wasn’t much. Mom found a few Halloween shirts she liked, but didn’t feel like buying just yet.

We then headed up to the 12th floor, and before heading to the room swung by the CL desk to request a late check-out the following day. They were able to get us one, we got an extra hour and a half so could stay in the room until 12:30! This was perfect and made our morning plans much more doable!

We then swung by the lounge to grab some wine and then headed to the room to enjoy the view from our balcony.

At 8, we made our way back to the lounge to grab desserts!

We watched the fireworks this evening from the balcony, and this evening I videoed it! I was going to post the video here, but I can’t find the Gopro I took the video on, so once I find that I’ll post the video later. I’m pretty sure it’s in a cabinet that is currently blocked by my Christmas tree, so it may have to wait a few weeks. :rotfl2:

Around 9:15 we headed back to the lounge to grab some more wine and desserts, really making the most out of club level this evening!

We then spent a bit more time out on the balcony enjoying the view and our wine. We also got to watch the Electric Water Pageant again!

We finally headed in and watched some football before calling it a night.

Next up: So Long Amazing Breakfast!

I LOVE Narcoooses (and Fling Fish for honorable mention). I absolutely adore Mizners! I went every trip! It was more than a place to get a drink, but a warm, comforting, inviting place to enjoy a lovely glass of whatever is your pleasure and the patrons always seemed the friendliest. Everyone was going to unwind and enjoy. Enjoy the lovely drinks and small bites but of course, the orchestra. I miss it so very much and there isn’t anything like it.

I love the late check out option, especially when our bus pickup time is close to the late checkout time. :) I need to request this for up upcoming trip next week.

What tip-based server is mad about someone asking for their check right away??? That just means I can flip the table faster. Goodness. I keep debating going to the Enchanted Rose because Belle is my girl. And I keep skipping it. Your review (and a few others) make me think I am making the right choice.

Narcoossees was really good, I'm glad we finally went back! Also love love love Flying Fish, that has become one of our staples each trip, we love it so much! I wish I had gone to Mizners when it was around, I'm sad I missed it!

It was so nice to get the late check-out, we've never asked before, but since we were just moving to another resort, and leaving club level, we wanted to enjoy the room and club level a bit longer, plus we didn't want to have to rush home from our morning plans!

Love the mosaics. But what the heck is the significance of the 5 legged goat???
Haha, thanks! The goat is from the Mary Blair mosaic in the the concourse of the Contemporary!

Right? It was a bit weird. Yeah, I had wanted to go for so long, and I'm glad I finally got to check it out, but it's not a place we feel like we need to visit again. Now, next year when we stay at the GF we may go again simple because we're already there, but I don't think we'd go out of our way to go.

Day 5, Part 1: So Long Amazing Breakfast!

We woke up pretty early this morning, around 6:15. At 6:30 mom ran down to the lounge to pick up coffee while I showered.

We slowly got ready until 7 when we headed to the lounge for breakfast.

Unlike the previous morning, this morning the lounge was already packed right at 7! There seemed to have been a lot of people who just arrived or were leaving this morning, so many people in the lounge had their luggage with them.

For breakfast this morning I got the egg white frittata, bacon, cheesy potatoes, coffee, POG juice, and of course a POGmosa!

After wrapping up with breakfast we headed back to our room to finish getting ready.

Since it was early, we had some time to kill before heading out, so enjoyed our wonderful view for a bit.

Monorail!

Finally, at 8 we headed out to MK!

It was a nice stroll over, and soon we were getting photopass pictures in front of the park!

We decided to do a bunch of photopass this morning on Main Street since it would be our last time in MK this trip!

This one photographer we got in line for was taking so many pictures of each group, so it was a bit of a wait for him, but I’m glad we waited, he was awesome! While waiting I took some pictures of Main Street, and I noticed this random window was open! Don't usually see that!

Finally it was our turn with the photographer! He did this whole glamour shots thing with us which was just hilarious!

This one photographer took like 20 pictures of us, it’s crazy!
