I am having a family birthday party for my DS. I purchased a pinata for him, but last week my DMIL gave me a second pinata. I only want to have one kids pinata since they won't need extra candy with Halloween coming, so DH wants me to fill the second pinata with adult stuff. Anyone have ideas? Please note that this is a family party so these ideas should be appropriate for three year olds and a ninety year old. Thanks.

Adult pinata?

You could get some larger things in your dollar spot at Target. Right now, my Target has footbal type items. These are things that are small. Also in this dollar spot there are some pretty jeweled picture frames and stuff liek that.

I know you said no candy, but stuff like mints or adult gum would go over well also.

Why not just put it up for next year, or the next party?

What about lottery tickets?

How about small keychains? Or dental floss to counteract all the candy in the other one? :rotfl:

:rotfl: NONE of my ideas are appropriate in a family setting. ;) But, you gave me a good laugh because I realized how dirty my mind can be! :cool1:

I liked some that have already been mentioned, so I'll count those here as well:

Toothbrush, toothpaste (sample size) dental floss, hair do dads, lottery tickets, Yankee tarts, small Christmas ornaments (taken out of box, but saved for winner), toenail clippers (LOL - I'm looking around my room for small stuff), some small tools? You could toss in sample sizes of lots of products, lotions, shampoo, soaps, anything like that. Pens, pencils (mechanical ones?) book covers in case kids get them or could be changed with the kids for other things? Well, that's about all I can think of right now.

O.k., I'm back with a helpful suggestion. How about still doing candy, but "vintage candy", that was popular when we were all kids. Maybe bottle caps, bazooka gum, lemon drops, root beer barrels, Hubba Bubba bubble gum, things like that?

here are some tips:
1. nothing plastic...if you hit the pinata hard enough - that stuff will break (think those little "gumball machine" toys...they break easily)

2. nothing too heavy (you want a small tool flying down at you? heheh)

3. why not make it a "trick" pinata? make it industructable (ask my mom - I swear, she gets pinatas made out of tupperware...takes FOREVER to break them)

To further the ornament idea...which is great, buy things and take them out of the boxes and then they can claim them if they grab it.

How about slips of paper with stuff written on it like fortune cookies (funny sayings) and then have some that can claim a prize as well.

Put together little goodie bags with things in them to add to it. That way everything isn't on the floor.

I like this idea- much better than mine, which involved those little airplane liquor bottles ;)

WOW, thank you everyone for these are great ideas. We don't have the lottery here, but I think I may do a mix of all the other suggestions. The vintage candy, travel size things and dental floss and I may even look for the little drink bottles. The second pinata is a pull string type so Grandpa won't be up at bat :rotfl:

About the idea on saving one for next year, that was my initial thought. But, the pinata I bought matches the theme for the party so I wanted to use that now. Then, since my DMIL was so nice to give me the second one, I wanted to use it too. I think it will be fun. Usually, we only focus on the kids and don't have any adult activites or games. I might throw in a gift card or something extra cool....to see if they will get wild like kids sometimes do.

I had a pinata for DH's 30th birthday. I put some toys in it - adults like to get silly once in a while too. Things like mini-koosh balls, squirt guns, candy necklaces, and stress balls shaped like sports balls went over really well.

I went to the store this morning to pick up some of the stuff. I got a candy package with mounds and some other stuff (my mom loves mounds), a package of Halloween granola bars, different types of travel sized shampoos, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, lotion, purell, toilet seat covers and some other stuff. I also picked up a few extra of some things for our upcoming trip. I went to the register with all my little samples and a bunch of those Disney light-up pens and well, the cashier looked at me like I was a crazy woman  . I think I will look for the little bottles and then see if that fills up the pinata. Thank you all for the great ideas.
