Hi everyone, I have reservations at Howard Johnson Maingate east... anyone heard anything about this hotel??? Wish I could stay somewhere better but I am on a tight budget (hello, i'm a college student ) I just need a decent place to sleep and take a shower. Good thing it has free shuttles to the disney parks though, but other than that I haven't heard much about it. Any advice? I'm leaving on Saturday :D thank you all!

p.s. i would also like to add that everyone here seems so nice, and I wish i found this site earlier and not a week before my trip! it's incredibly helpful!

Hi! 3 years ago we stayed there (can relate to the limited budget!) and it was fine. There is a hot tub next to the pool that was great. The bus to the parks was nice but make sure you get in line a few minutes early 'cause sometimes it would fill up and the folks at the back of the line had to wait for the next bus. It was a clean, decent place to stay close WDW. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Remember, you won't be spending much time at the hotel anyway! ;)

Hi luvlymulan: We are also staying at hjmge, March 11-17. I have learned that there is a shuttle that runs from the hotel to MK and that you have to take Disney buses from there to the other parks. This info I got directly from the hotel. I am hoping that it will be okay because the kids and I will probably have to rely on that at least in the morning because my DH goes golfing and will need our van. Generally the comments on this board have been okay about this hotel. Use the "search" option on this board and type in the name of the hotel and it will come up with several messages about it, mine too. Like you, we are looking to save money this trip and as long as it's clean, the hjmge will be okay for us. We just want to get away from the cold weather! :)

LadyNTramp: I'll remember that about getting to the bus early, thanks for the info! :)

I stayed at the HoJo MGE in January 2000 for 8 nights. While it actually has more of a motel style (which I personally prefer to monster lobbies and miles of inside corridors) and it is nothing "special" in any way, it had everything I needed: clean room, decent size TV, modem port on phone. The refrigerator came with the "comfort room" (or something) at $5/day. Cool!

I have been seeing some rather negative comments about the hotel recently. Can´t believe the place could have deteriorated so much within one year. Either these folks use different standards (while ignoring the decent rates) or there really are some nasty rooms. I was absolutely happy with my room.

I have noticed, however, that their website (www.hojomge.com) hasn´t been update in ages and apparently their e-mail address is broken, mail gets bouced by their mail server saying the address is unknown locally. Not good :-(

PLUS: It´s not too far away from the 300ft Sky Coaster. Not only is it great to watch people "fall" from 300ft from your hotel room door (if you´re lucky :-), but you can use the 300ft poles for navigation, once you see those, you´ll easily find your way back to the hotel :-)

Hi. I'm sure you'll be happy. It's no big deal, but as long as you're in WDW that's all that matters. We stayed there last year and it was a clean place to sleep and shower. The hot tub was fine. Have a wonderful trip!!!
