I think I've asked this before, but I can't remember, so here goes.... lol...

How much do you pay for a haircut and foils? I have shoulder-length hair, and my hair dresser uses 3 or 4 different colors of highlights (3 or 4 bowls of different colored goop that she brushes onto my hair. lol).

Today she charged me $75 (tip not included), and I'm wondering if this is good, bad, or average. Please vote! :)

I think you got a good deal.

I've not had foil highlights in forever, but for an all over color and a cut, I pay $55 at a salon in Carver.

Foil highlights and cut is $125 for me, and that is not in a high end salon. I think you got a good deal.

my last bill was 120 with cut and foil...I usually get a glossing cream on it and deep conditioner which is 20 more for both but did not do that this time to save for my WDW trip!! Gotta cut corners!!!

:rotfl:

It all just depends on whom I go to:lmao: I only trust 2 men with my hair ~ the one who does my "artistic dancer" hair refuses to charge me because I am one of his photo models and also because he loves me (no lie)

The other who does my hair for high class events or when I need it to look like I belong in the "corporate" world charges me around $225 to $285 for a cut, foiled highlights, plus an all-over color OR a color remover to go back to my natural state. We all pay a price for beauty:rolleyes:

I pay $110 for a haircut and color weave with 3 colors. I also tip about $20 so it is an expensive trip. When I had short hair, I was paying this every 6 weeks.

I paid $140 once for a hair cut and a highlight -- I vowed to never pay that again! I know someone who used to cut hair full time and now she does it on the side out of her house. I give her $40 for a cut and highlight and she does a WONDERFUL job!

I just paid $85 for a cut, foil and color today, plus $25 tip.

Prices are a regional thing. I live in mid-Michigan now, but in Detroit, I'd probably pay $125+.

120 ish for cut and 2 color highlights. I think it's a deal and love my girl.

Wow........now I really feel like I am being taken advantage of, I pay $55.00 for a hair cut and when I have the highlights and cut it cost me $155.00 But it is a high end shop, I just got fed up with trying to find someone and keeping them, it seems down here in FL they come and go, so I asked other women who they went to and then I asked the stylist how long they have been at the salon, in all honestly I can't really afford that price but I do love how he cuts my hair so I will find a way! Now instead of getting a hair cut every 6 weeks I go 8 weeks and highlights every 3rd time, that is pushing it but being blonde I can get away with it.

Last time was over $150, which appalled me. I've used the same person for quite a while but their salon has lately become the "hip" place in town. Last cut alone ran me $55 + tips for stylist & shampoo/blowout person. Foils were like $90 or so, then the cut on top of it. Several of their stylists left and went to another place where they pay simple booth rental. I went to one of them before Christmas, cut cost me $40 without tip. I'm not sure the cost of foils there though.

about $150 and then a $20ish dollar tip which is less than 20% but they are the salon owners and I know you shouldn't tip them but I feel guilty if I don't.

Last time I got a cut and foil highlights, I had my hair done by a student at the Aveda Institute, and that cost about $55. A couple years ago I had a cut and foils done at JC Penney's salon and paid about $125 (including tip). $75 doesn't seem too bad.

When I did get mine done it was always 130 and up...My hair is long, so it costs more.

However...I gave up after 15yrs. and started "using the box"....No matter what salon it was my highlights just were not worth that price tag anymore. Also I could not afford to go for highlighting every 3 months and my hair would end up looking awful. It grows too fast.

I did my first box a couple of months ago and it did dry my hair so I use hair mask and other stuff on it.
As far as the color, not as good as a salon but I can live with it.

Now to find a great stylist....still looking after moving here 2yrs ago.

$140 + tip...I have highlights every 3rd time and permanent color done each time (about every 6 weeks) since I have been grey since 26...My mom greyed early too..sigh :sad2:

From my salon's site -

cut & style from $85
blow dry from $60
fringe cut from $30
updo from $130
hair extensions priced by consultation
tint from $80
partial highlight from $155
full highlight from $195
balayage from $195
perm from $130

I'd say you got a great deal.

I paid close to $100 at a salon and honest they did a crappola job. I asked for both my hair to be lighter and highlights. She did not dye it lighter and the highlights almost look I have gray streaks. She used what looks almost like a bleach job.

I complained. It got me no where. I will not go back. She was a terrible hair dresser!

I also wanted my hair cut a certain way... the bangs (like the first 2 layers) super short and then the rest blended.... she didn't do either like I wanted. Even AFTER asking twice.

I wish I knew of a decent place to get it done where they listen to you. For the amount of money I am really disappointed.

$165 with tip, every 5 weeks. It's the ONE thing I spend a lot of money on. I buy all my work clothes on sale and am in general a bargain shopper. My stylist is in a trendy salon, but she moves around a lot, I follow her. She's fantastic, I love my hair the way she does it and would pay double if that's what it cost me.
