How do you pack salad dressing for kids lunch?

My daughter is asking for celery/carrot sticks in her lunch and dressing to dip.
Can't argue with that!
My problem is some days she doesn't use a lunch box (only does if using a thermos for warm lunch)...rather she brown bags it with a disposable lunch to avoid going back to her locker before recess.
Any ideas of where to get containers with lids at a decent price that are disposable???

I'm sure you can find some online - my dd7 brings salad a lot, and I wish they'd sell single serve dressing packets at the grocery store.

My younger dd loves to pack a lot of salads for her lunch... went looking at walmart and target for the smallest "disposable" containers I could find for her dressing, and ended up getting a 6 pack of 4 oz. Glad containers. Think they were about $3 for the pack.. she always takes a lunch bag, so always brings home the container.. but I figure if she accidently tosses one, I'm only out 50 cents.

I just bought individual servings of salad dressing (Ranch) for dipping - in the refrigerated aisle next to the bags of carrot sticks and celery. I think it was Marzetti's brand. A little pricey but I don't plan on using it often.

You might check with Sam's or Costco to see if they have the little plastic tubs with lids. I think some fast food places use them for ketchup and condiments. I can't imagine that they would be very expensive, but you would have to buy a lot of them!

get some of the snack size zip lock bags and use those. I always put the snack size zip lock bag with the dressing inside of another sandwich size just in case but that disposable and cheap and easy to carry and easy to dip into.

Have you checked the front end salad mix section of the grocery?? Sometimes I've seen the individual packets for sale up there. And I want to say Hidden Valley makes little cups for dipping. Or you could go the expensive route and buy the prepackaged carrots/celery sticks with dressing.

If you have a Smart and Final, or a restaurant supply store near you, the disposable cups with lids (that restaurants use for ketchup, salsa, etc.) would be an ideal solution.

I use the Glad "disposable" small containers (4oz) for Ranch dressing for my son's veggies, but he takes a lunchbox and brings the container back every day, so I can reuse it several times.

They do also sell individual carrot/celery + ranch dip packets in the supermarkets. They are more expensive, but might be worth it if you know your child is actually eating the veggies each day.

They do have packets of dressing in the dressing isle. I found some for italian and I think they had ranch. They were at my local Winn-dixie in the dressing isle. They were a bit more than say a bottle would cost but if she would use them then that might be your best bet.

Yes, not only they sell small containers, but depending on the location they even sell boxes of individually packed dressings.

I went to GFS and bought plastic cups with lids. If he brings them home great, if not, they werent that expensive

I use the Tupperware Midgets 2oz containers. Set of 6 with lids is $11.99 on Amazon with Free Shipping over $25:wizard:

Just ordered an extra set last night so I can use for my liquid vitamins and dressings.

DH uses ziploc bags for DSs ranch dipping for carrots. I usually save ranch cups from McDonalds or other fast food (they always give so many extra or if we eat it at home, I save the cup and use our bottle at home) so those are handy too. You could buy the Hidden Valley ranch individual cups at a grocery store, but they can get expensive.

why use Ziploc baggies when you have to throw them out? My DD10 loves to take fruits/veggies with dips for lunch, we use these to send Ranch dressing. :) http://www.glad.com/containers/gladware_containers.php
Click on available sizes, you'll see they have 4 oz sizes available. :) Just wash a reuse, great investment. :) Ziploc has them too, I have both kinds. I also have the Tupperware midgees but I prefer the Glad/Ziploc style because if they get forgotten and you end up tossing them it's not as much $$. :)

We have a store around here called Yankee Dollar and they have Kraft Ranch in an 8pack of packets for 1.00, check out your dollar store!

OP says she is looking for something disposable because DD rushes from one class to another and doesn't have time for a locker stop and doesn't want to carry extras with her after lunch:

OP: Ziploc snack baggies are the way to go
