How do we eliminate porch piracy in the USA?

Some would be helped by delivering to the correct address. Anything you have for your house (like a camera, special box, etc) won't be helped if the driver delivers to the incorrect address.

It's not super common for us but does happen. Last month I ordered some cat food from Pertsmart and had it as same-day delivery which is through doordash. The driver delivered to my nextdoor neighbor whose address only shares the first two numbers so it was just that the driver didn't look at the full house numbers on the order. That time I did reach out to the driver (you can do it through texting as that's how they communicate your order is on its way) and just gentle let them know that and he responded he was sorry but he thought he had the right house. Luckily we have a good relationship with the neighbor and I just went over to his house and picked it up.

Last month that same nextdoor neighbor's package from Amazon had gotten delivered to our house so we just dropped it off at their house.

Just after we had gotten back from our vacation in September we had our held mail delivered and in it was a neighbor's small package two houses away, we just dropped it off at their house.

All of our house numbers have to be black, and large enough (HOA rules) so it's not a case of issues seeing the numbers. But in terms of theft that can be harder when either someone in the home takes the package and refuses to give it back or it gets taken off of their property by someone and cameras or other things aren't available.

This is kind of what the Amazon Lockers do for people who have risky porches or delivery circumstances.

In theory!

In practice, most couriers just leave packages wherever, ignore delivery instructions, and ignore all of the signs on the walls that say not to leave packages in the lobby or mail room.

When my dad was in hospice, they always mailed his drugs. Lots of morphine, pill and liquid form, got delivered to my house.

Many insurance companies now require patients to use mail-order pharmacies for maintenance medications.

Interesting, I know my mom uses mail-in for her prescriptions but didn't realize that controlled could be shipped too. I guess it's a easier way to get them, just frustrating with the porch pirates getting ahold of them.

Could always just buy stuff at the store and eliminate the porch altogether.

I'm not a fan of that either - I REALLY hate shopping! Amazon FTW!

I would rather avoid the traffic, the tolls, and parking fees to shop in person.

I'm saying if a porch pirate gets injured like in the videos.

Then you have a lawsuit on your hands cause preventing theft on your own property is a bad thing nowadays.
