Hi all! This is such a helpful board. So my family of 8 will be at WDW in late Sept. My ADR day is coming up this Wed 3/27. My group is 6 adults, and 2 kids -DD10 (2nd trip), DD6 (1st trip).

We are doing MK on a day when it closes at 6pm for MNSSHP (not doing the party this year, maybe another year). I'm putting together a list of dinner options for this day for ADR.

Ideally I'd love to get CRT for as late as possible that day (5:30?), allowing us to leave the park a bit later. But I'm assuming we'll end up with CRT earlier or on one of our half days at MK.

If that doesn't happen, I'd like to get a 6:30 or 7pm res somewhere that's easy to get to from MK - on monorail, etc. We are staying at Beach Club.

Here is my list now, in order of preference after CRT (I would love thoughts about any of these):
Storybook Dining (Snow White) - close enough from monorail
California Grill
Ohana
1900 Park Fare (Cinderella dinner)
... anything else I should add as an option?

We have the dining plan, and I want places charging 1 TS credit only.

Thanks in advance!

Chef Mickey is a must for us every trip and we will often go there after leaving MK as it is 1 monorail stop or you can walk it.

One note, you say you are looking at 1 credit places but you have California Grill on the list, which, like CRT, is 2 credits.

After a busy park day, I would prefer something like Grand Floridian Cafe which is truly table service.

I gave in to the hype and tried Ohana last year. I loved the platter of stuff-noodles, wings, etc - but the meats brought around on skewers tasted like the fuel they use to cook them.

Or maybe try Storybook Dining at Wilderness Lodge if the menu appeals to you. That is just a boat ride from MK.

Grand Floridian Cafe is a must do for my family. We always leave very satified and service is great as well. Additionally, have u considered HDDR? U can boat from MK to camp grounds.., very fun family friendly environment and the food is good as well.

I am pretty sure that the latest you will be able to get a CRT reservation on a party night is 4:40 (maybe 5) as a non-party guest.

We loved 1900 Park Fare in 2014. It was our overall favourite out of all the character meals that we did (BOG, Chef Mickey's, Akershus, Tusker House, Garden Grill, Crystal Palace) for a combination of a great buffet that everyone liked and the great character interaction. Looking forward to trying Ohana and Storybook Dining on our trip this year.

I can confirm last year we had CRT reservation w/out party tickets for 5:30. We were escorted out once we finished dinner w/out any problems.

Storybook Dining would be your best use of 1 TS credit. I loved our experience there last month and would happily do it again. You could also take the Boat to Fort Wilderness and try Trail's End. We really enjoyed the food there and it would be a fun place for a larger party.

I too gave Ohana a try last April and came away a bit underwhelmed.

1900 Park Fare is a really great option over at the GF. It is character dining with Cinderella, Prince Charming, the evil step mothers and step sisters, but only one credit. We really liked all the food options--it can be a faster paced or slow paced meal depending on what you want. It's also just a quick monorail ride away from the MK.

I would choose Storybook Dining or 1900 PF for your two kids. The evil queen is awesome and the stepsisters are a riot and your whole group would probably enjoy them

I thought I had all the acronyms down but.... what is HDDR?

Oh right - thank you! That's now off the list (we have plans for all of our other TS credits).

Another vote for Storybook Dining at Artist Point. We liked it so much that we went twice in one trip. The only thing is, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable going there straight from the park. We were staying at Wilderness Lodge so we were able to change to dinner clothing, redo hair, freshen faces, etc.
Looking at your list again, I think the only one I might be comfortable going straight to after the park would be 'Ohana. It's casual, chaotic, and dark. Also try for that CRT you mentioned. Since it's in the park, park attire is common.

Okay. I thought I was the only one that tasted the fuel. It reminded me of sterno cans that you use under pans at a party. YUCK!!!

The fuel they use to cook the grilled meats is oak. When you stay at Poly the scent of wood fires burning begins around 1:00 PM and permeates the resort at least on the side closest to GF. Wouldn't be surprised if they reheated over gas but I've never tasted it on the food unlike when I camp and other campers lose their minds soaking charcoal briquets with the petroleum based stuff.

i would vote fo rStorybook Dining only because it looks really fun, a good menu and the reviews have been great.
We haven't been there yet, but its in the future plan.

Another vote for 1900 Park Fare - it's our favorite character meal, especially with a large group!

Honestly I would take the monorail over to Epcot for dinner. Then you can easily get back to BC. Cali Grill is 2 credits and Ohana is a difficult ressie around typical dinner times (plus its not the great, IMO). Ive never been to Storybook dining/. I booked it for August only because its new. The menu didnt look amazing to me! You wuold have to take the ferry from MK, then ferry back to MK. (Or monorail to Contemp and ferry to WL). Lots of hassle if you dont love SWatSD.

Epcot restaurants are AMAZING and so much to choose from! I would go there, but if you want another suggestion on the monorail loop, I wouldnt rule out Grand Floridian Cafe.

We love the Kona Cafe at Poly! It is a must do for us every trip! 1900 PF is wonderful as well! The step sisters are hysterical! Storybook dining is on our list for sure! Whichever you choose, enjoy!
