Hello Out There From Disney Land,

I'm new here to DISBoards, and for my first post, I'd like to discuss a FAIRLY recent Disney sitcom I've been binge-watching lately that I have on DVD.

Its name: "Hello Ladies."

For those of you unfamiliar with it, here's the Inside Information from an avid viewer of the show: Created by Gene Stupnitsky & Lee Eisenberg, "Hello Ladies" was an IMO unjustly short-lived 2013 Disney sitcom originally airing on the HBO Television Network from September 29, 2013 - November 17, 2013, with a 90-Minute TV Movie version titled "Hello Ladies: The Movie" airing on November 22, 2014; the show was based on Steve Merchant's stand-up comedy routine "Hello Ladies" about Steve's search for a wife.

The show starred Steve as Stuart Pritchard, a Web Designer by trade who left his native England for the greener pastures of Los Angeles to find his one true love and reinvent himself after his former girlfriend, Trudy, left him for, and eventually married, Mike Moffitt; other principal characters included Christine Woods (fresh from the short-lived 2009 Disney Sci-Fi show "FlashForward," the Pilot of which itself was made for HBO, which passed over on the Pilot, after which Disney-owned ABC picked up the series for a 22-episode season before ending production on THAT show) as Jessica Vanderhoff, a struggling actress who served as Stuart's tenant in the Guest House Stuart owned next to his main house; Nate Torrence (futurely of the hit 2016 Disney Cartoon movie "Zootopia," where he played Officer Clawhauser in THAT movie) as Wade Bailey, an office employee whose wife, Marion (Crista Flanagan), with whom he had a little girl, Cassidy (Reece Caddell), at home, wanted a divorce; and Kevin Weisman (fresh from the early 2000s Disney Spy Drama "Alias") as Kives, a wheelchair bound man who, despite his Disability, had more success with women than Stuart ever did (ironically, in real life Kevin Weisman IS NOT, nor was he ever, before or after "Hello Ladies," wheelchair bound).

Personally, though Steve Merchant's Stuart character was a bit of a selfish jerk the way he treated women most of the time, in many respects, I loved "Hello Ladies" and tuned in faithfully every Sunday night at 10 P.M. ET on HBO when it aired after "Eastbound & Down" at 10:30 P.M. ET as part of an HBO Hour including "Eastbound & Down" at 10 P.M. ET followed by "Hello Ladies" at 10:30 P.M. ET; frankly, and unfortunately, HBO cancelled "Hello Ladies" after its one-and-only season, with a TV movie airing at 8 P.M. ET on November 22, 2014 on HBO, the year AFTER HBO announced its cancellation.

TBH, had HBO given "Hello Ladies" a chance to improve, I'd have loved to see Stuart (as he was starting to already) improve, grow, and learn and mature as a man--like when he turned down an invite at the end of the last regular episode to Skinny Dip with Model Kimberley (Heather Hahn) to console his tenant Jessica after she was recast on "NCIS: LA" after she'd already filmed her first episode (not really, but in the storyline to clarify).

Unlike MOST HBO Network content such as "The Sopranos," "True Blood" and "Sex and the City" to name 3 examples, there wasn't as much Nudity and Risque Content on "Hello Ladies," and I loved that about the show--and yet, unfortunately, I believe that that's what also caused HBO to cancel it.

Sure, there WAS a lot of Profane Language and Sexual Dialogue which had it been a Theatrical Movie instead would have I believe earned "Hello Ladies" an MPA Rated R, but aside from the last episode, there wasn't much Nudity.

Nevertheless, I thought "Hello Ladies" was a brilliant show and was sorry to see it end after such a short time on HBO.

Most people outside America probably know Steve Merchant as protege to Ricky Gervais, best known in Disney Land as Dominic Badguy in "Muppets Most Wanted."

"Hello Ladies" was produced by Four Eyes Entertainment and Quantity Entertainment in association with ABC Studios and Distributed by Disney Media Distribution.
