Sadly yes. An intruder broke into our house through a window with a crowbar. The dogs scared him off, but not until he'd helped himself a a few valuables. Partly our own fault as we'd not installed a burglar alarm for the downstairs. He was gone before he arrived, but it was still scary.

Had my cell phone stolen from my truck in my driveway over 30 years ago. That was when cell phones were called car phones, in my case a huge bag phone that until then, stayed in the car. They pried out the part of the door where the key goes in, and then just popped up the lock button. Back in those days your cell phone bill showed ever call, they started using the phone at 3:30 am, calling a local Pool Hall several times. I was lucky, some how the thief was caught in a stolen goods raid about 3 hours after taking the phone, and about an hour before I discovered the theft. I got the phone back two days later. Detective says the Pool Hall they called is a known location for fencing stolen goods. Cost me $250 to fix my door. I could have asked for restitution from the suspect but many advised me to just eat the loss and end any connection with the guy, since he KNEW where I lived.

When I was in 8th grade (or around then), someone broke into our house while we were all sleeping. They broke into the back door, took my mom and sister's purses off the kitchen stool (which is right near the backdoor.) Then they took our landline cordless phone....but the cord connecting it to the wall got stuck in the door on their way out.

My mom had been asleep on the couch in the living room (right off the kitchen) and the cops think seeing her probably scared them off. None of us woke up.

Their purses were found on the side of the road not too far from us. Just missing some cash.

When I was a senior in high school, we were at my aunt and uncle's house. I had to park on the street which was a good distance from their home. Very dark road. When I went to leave....my car was gone. It was found completely striped in a bad part of town a week or so later. It was just a crummy, 10 year old Blazer that barely got above 40 mph. I would have loved to see the look on their faces as they tried to speed away in it.

As a kid:
Thief came in through doggie door when I was a kid. Stole some of my mother's jewelry.
Mother's car stolen at bowling alley.

As an adult:
Armed robbery when checking into motel before WDW trip.
Car stolen out of driveway.

Had my cellphone ripped out of my running hydration vest (which I was wearing) less than a block from my apartment.

Petty theft. My daughter was in HS and her BFF was boy crazy to the Nth degree. Somehow my house became a hangout for those 2 and 3 guys for a while. They would hang in the basement and play ping pong and listen to music. They were all nice enough and we never felt there was any problem. One of them asked my daughter to prom. In the weeks between the invite and the prom date I noticed there was $$ and coins missing from my "can" in my bedroom.
( $200+) I actually thought for a short time in might have been one of two cousins of mine. My daughter went to the prom, the guy was in my house that night. Maybe less than a week later my neighbor tells my husband he saw 3 kids pull in my driveway get out and looks like they go to my garage door. ( unfortunately and completely our fault, that door was left open too often) minutes later they leave. My dog at the time had a threatening bark and grown men were afraid of him but these 3 yahoos already had been around my dog and knew they wouldn't get bit.
My neighbor had written the license # down because it didn't sit well with him. My husband and my daughter's bff's dad go to the police station, give them a description of the car, the license# and the fact that we will never get that cash back. The only great thing to come out of it was learning the police did see the car, pulled them over, found the 3 looking scared ****less and the officer basically told them that he knew they walked into my house, stole $$ and if they were ever caught on my property again they'd be arrested!!
I can't tell you how awful I felt for my daughter. She thought these kids were "friends" Obviously they were not!
And I still think of it once in a while and wonder why their conscience has never clicked to want to send my $$ back to me.

While filing my gas tank thief’s slipped into my car and stole my wallet and cell phone. Felt so violated. I chased after them and threw their drivers door open demanding my stuff back, chasing into a major 6 lane roadway. I looked crazy but solidified my dislike for Memphis.

About 15 years ago a moped type scooter was stolen from our driveway.

20+ years ago my newly installed car stereo was stolen out of my car. We later learned the cop who took our report was involved in crimes that were occurring. Where he responded to crime scenes that he shouldn’t have and reports went missing.

Being a victim of a criminal animal that would break into the personal space of another human being and therein steal from you is NEVER even partly your fault …

I've been robbed three times. Now my house is a fortress -- bars on the windows, alarm system, deadbolt locks, etc.
My house and cars are booby trapped …and I never leave home without being armed … I welcome intruders …

So that was the extent of the police investigation for a felony burglary? Pathetic

Someone stole our double stroller right out of the back of our car, in our driveway. I must have forgotten to lock it up once I got a toddler and two infants back into the house. I loved that stroller. We weren’t able to get that exact kind after that. I just figured someone must have REALLY been in need of one.

Once. The cars that were parked in the driveway each had a window broken and were rifled through. We don’t leave valuables in the car, so they didn’t get anything, but the cleanup and replacing the windows was a pain to deal with.

Not for a very long time. 30 years ago when I was single, I lived in a very nice apartment in a fashionable neighbourhood. During my time there my car was prowled twice. :( Nothing of value stolen but it did annoy me. That's the last place I've ever lived without garage parking and I've never had any other trouble. Unless you count cyber-crime. We've had our bank account digitally hacked and pilfered twice. Luckily the bank took responsibility for the breachs and made good on the funds very quickly both times.

Many times, I think the luckiest was a home invasion at 23 weighing maybe 100 lbs where I stayed calm and talked the guy out of my home.

Thing about growing up in an insane home is you learn early you better figure out how to be the calmest person in the room in a crisis. Other people freak out, I get super icy and think more clearly.

car broken into and stereo/contents stolen

victim of 'terrorism threat' (as defined by state of california).

The only two times I can recall involved cars. The first was when someone punched out the trunk lock of my car. I was in a car pool and we met alongside a rather desolate intersection, so one to three cars sat there all day.

The second time was in the driveway of my next house. The car was unlocked, a habit I changed after the incident.

In both cases nothing much was in there to take. I just remember things like sunglasses and maglights.

When married to my EX, his car stereo was stolen w/the car sitting in the driveway at like 4:00 AM.

The "perps" were apprehended pretty quickly as the police had already been alerted because some strange people were seen snooping around in the neighborhood. Their footprints in the snow led the police to where they were hiding and all the stuff they took was recovered. They were some people from waaaaaaay out of state just passing through decided to start stealing stuff.

It did take like a month for him to get the stereo back b/c it was locked up in evidence.
