I have just read on another disney site a post by someone who says there have been lots of child abductions from the disney theme parks and that the carousel in mK is the worst place for this happen??
This person says they learned this from a tv programme.
Iam not sure this is true...i think it would have been mentioned here..and in 3 yrs of being here I have never read a thread about this happening.
Can anyone confirm for me that this just isn't true.

Thank you...Thats just what i thought..:)

It just wouldn't make sense logically, if someone is going to abduct a child why pick a place that is very crowded and with a complicated exit.

It is easy to lose track of the kids but Disney has many procedures in place to make sure they are located very quickly.

Don't people just seem to get swept up by this rumour...I mean this poster on the other site says he watched a TV show about kidnappings in the MK:confused3 ...Why did he have to lie ??

wow thats great but still find it hard to believe that there was NEVER a child abuduction there.

Why is it hard to believe? Child abduction by strangers is EXTREMELY rare. Disney is a very secure and as mentioned before a place with only one or two at most exits that are manned by employees, not to mention the roving security and the families vacationing that would stop anyone with a child that was being abducted.

There have been atempts but they never have gotten away.
With Disney secutiry I have no idea why someone would try.

OT- does anyone remember when a baby was born in the restroom? The baby was nicknamed Jasmine.

Yes! I think of that baby every time I go into those restrooms - the ones in Tomorrowland between the old Skyway Station and COP. Wonder what ever happened to her?

I tried to find more info on "Jasmine"

all I could find was an old article saying that an aunt and uncle might adopt her

As for adubctions...I know someone who swears she was there when the rumored "girls hair was cut dyed, dressed like a boy, only her familiar sneakers saved her" story happened. This supposedly happened at a peak time and in one of the public bathrooms, yet no one noticed someone cutting and dying the hair of an unconscious little girl in the mens bathroom. When she went missing, no one check bathrooms etc.

People will believe anything. Pure urban legend as pointed out on snopes.com

I've tried to tell her it didn't happen, sent her the snopes linke etc. She refuses to believe that it didn't happen.
I've read where others (either here on the DIS or people who some DIS'ers know) swear that WDW just has big pockets and can make the news police reports etc go away. I'll point out that we were at Universal the day the guy had a heartattack and drove into one of the lakes on WDW property. The media was on the scene imediately and it was on all the local news stations. The media would show up in a heart beat if the police were called about an abduction on WDW property. WDW also couldn't keep it out of the news when the "gypsies" staged a rape in a WDW hotel.

::yes::
Even if Disney could stop the news reports (which I don't think they could), the parents would be all over the media. No parent would stay quiet (especially if the child was not found immediately.

Look at what happened when the family accused Tigger of hitting their child? That was all over the news for days.

I was standing at the Seven Dwarfs mining adventure on July 4th , 2014 at 11:00pm, and two disney employees radios were going off, and the message stated" Amber alert for a ten year old puerto rican descent male, with tan shorts and a bright yellow polo shirt, anybody with information, CODE 03...his parents are waiting in guest services"

I was in complete and utter shock, not to mention sadness and dismay for this kid and his family, BTW, we were in the back of the main street watching the fire works, because the park was over capacity.

Anyways, I continued on to Mickey's Philharmonic, and I asked the women attending there, and she said she didn't have radio contact, so she didn't know anything about it, and I have searched all over the internet since I got home, I even checked wt the Amber alert board pages, and I couldn't find anything, so hopefully, they found him and got him back to his parents.

Just because there was an alert out does not mean there was an abduction. A family and a child got separated. It happens all the time.

Talk about a zombie thread.

I highly doubt this was an abduction, especially since there is no new report. It was probably a 10 year old who wandered off, or got confused about which door to go out of at a bathroom, etc and got lost. Odds are the kid was reunited with his parents within minutes of an alert going out to staff. Lost kids happen all the time at theme parks, zoos, etc.

One good think is I think there is hidden security all over Disney, much more than we could ever imagine. One night I was on the boardwalk with a few of my lady friends on a girls weekend. It was very late and everything had closed I think we had taken the bus back from Pleasure Island and we were checking to see if jellyrolls was still opened and it wasnt. So the boardwalk pretty much seemed deserted except us and this younger couple. So anyway, the guy starts yelling at the girl and starts pushing her like almost to knock her over!! We were all looking like omg and then in a split second seemingly out of nowhere they were swarmed by male and female plainclothes security. We heard the security woman say to him, you go to jail for that in this state. My friends and I were blown away by how the security people had somehow seen what was going on and seemed to appear like....magic!!

Your first post and you ressurected a 7 year old zombie thread????? Well, alrighty then.

As the PPs have noted, lost and misplaced children are nothing new in the parks, and Disney CMs have their procedures well honed. Did you not note yourself that the park was at capacity and extra crowded due to Wishes. I would imagine they would have been inundated with lost kid alerts. If the child had been abducted it would have been all over the media. Disney would have been powerless to stop that, not that I think they would even try.

I'm a cast member and that is NOT the code for lost children
I won't give it out, but that's not it
We would also be on the lookout for a lost child everywhere
