Has anyone tried using stroller connectors?

We are taking two umbrella strollers for DD 3, and DS 16 months on our upcoming trip in a few weeks? A friend mentioned that they make things to connect the two strollers so only one of us would have to push at a time.

Has anyone tried these before?

Where do you find them?

Do they attach easily and come undone just as easily for easier transport?

Do the strollers need to be the same to use them? We have two umbrellas, but they are different brands. I haven't stood them up to each other ( one is my moms) to see if they are the same size, etc.

I haven't done my research yet, but just wondered if any of you had experience with them to find out if its worth it. Thanks!

I bought them and took them back. They made 2 Mac Volos extra wide. I can't see pushing them together... it would have been a nightmare. We just took a double and that worked fine. :)

I had them for my kids when they were little (my kids are now 11 and 12). They were fine for quick trips to the mall. I wouldn't use them at Disney.

Thanks for the replies. My options are to take the sit n' stand stroller, which is huge, or to take the two umbrellas. I just thought the umbrellas would be easier to handle on the busses, etc. Only problem is that DH is 6'5, and sometimes his back gets to hurting from pushing the umbrella stroller, so I thought if the connectors would work, it might be a good idea. I might just see if I can find some and see if I think it will be feasible. Online they seem to be pretty inexpensive, so I guess Im not out much if they don't work.

Can you see if theres a double Maclaren on say, Craigslist? It's not as ginormous as a Sit N Stand, and it has high handles. If you get one cheap enough it might be worth it. :thumbsup2

We have two Mac Volos and bought the stroller connectors at Babies R Us for about $10.

Honestly, they really don't work. In the two 10 day trips we used the strollers we used the connectors once. DH took the two little ones in HS while older DD and I rode RnR and ToT. We then swapped so he could ride with DD. I got part way up the street with the strollers and nearly had a meltdown. It's very difficult to push and absolutely impossible to maneuver. I parked us out of the way and we had a snack while we waited for them to finish.

I have suggested to others that they're fine to have for a "just in case" scenario, but don't take them thinking you can snap the strollers together and use them to tour the parks.

Not sure what types of strollers you have (ours have a shoulder strap and small basket underneath), but since your kids are not infants perhaps you could just not use the second stroller for parts of the day. We found that if we had to split up, I would fold the one stroller up and carry it over my shoulder or stick it in the basket of the other one and one child could just walk. Also, at MK we would often park the strollers for several hours while we did the attractions in one "land", so your DH may not have to actually push a stroller all day long.

we have the double jeep umbrella stroller and love it!!!! we do quite a bit of travelling and I love it cause it folds up to practically the same size that a single umbrella stroller does....it's a side by side though so dosen't do well in stores and such but it's great for walking!!!

it wasn't that expensive either and so far it has proven to be pretty durable!!!

ETA: tried to post a link to the one we have but I'm new to the boards and don't have the post count yet to add images...lol...sorry

I used to have some too.. I would not recommend them at Disney! They are not durable enough to be pushed by one person and they make the strollers VERY wide!!!

Thanks!! Really glad I checked with you all first! I thought it was a great idea when I heard about them!

Another vote for the Jeep Double Side by Side. It was great! And the seats recline.. very helpful at naptime!

I thought they were a great idea too....until I actually used them. I got them when I was babysitting my nephew and didn't own a double stroller, but had 2 umbrella strollers. We only went to the park around the corner from our house, and I was miserable the entire time pushing it. I never used them again.
