Hi, This year for my Homemakers club I'm in charge of planning our meetings. I have most months filled up.
I have one of our members giving a demo on ReiKi (Japanese technigue for stress reduction & relaxation) for one of our meetings and a few game nights (Night at the races, Maj-on and dinners planned. I need to fill two more spots. The speakers usually last about 1 hour. Does anyone have any ideas for me. We would love to get free speakers but will pay the guest up to $100. Our groups age range from 45 to 70. Thanks,

Maybe you should contact IdesOMarch, I think he would make a "lively" speaker for a women's group ;) :lmao:

Find a female financial planner to come talk to the group. I've done sessions with women's groups before that I got some good feedback from. Make sure the person is qualified and in the business of giving advice, not selling product.

What about having someone from a charity come and talk about their program and ways you could help them? Then do some sort of project for them?

I like the charity idea (maybe someone from the food bank, red cross, blood bank, etc). Maybe a local politician (state representative)?

Home mani-pedis (with a bring a nail polish to swap)
Organizing coupons with savings (but not extreme--eek!)
Refashion (turning bigger clothing items into children's clothing, sweaters into pillow cases, etc)

How about a clothing swap? Or, if you need a speaker, some larger thrift store chains have a fashion writer or stylist. Maybe see if someone like that could talk about discount shopping or refashioning home or clothing items.

You could have someone speak about women's heart health. This could be very important information for women in that age group.

i agree - we had one come to our girls group and she was very informative - even if you know a lot on the subject she had more to add. It was very worthwhile. The person we had was someone we knew who worked in the trust department of a bank.

I used to go to a mom's group at our church...we had speakers all the time. We had someone come and do a self-defense demonstration. That was pretty good. I know recently they had a Zumba instructor come and do an hour of Zumba. We had someone from a local Italian restaurant come and cook some easy recipes. That was FUN and yummy!!!!

Oh theses are all great ideas! Keep them coming thanks
