Hi everyone. I'm on a one year deployment to Iraq. I'd really like to propose to my sweetheart in club 33, if that's even possible. We've always talked about getting in, but it would blow her mind to get her ring in there.

My plan right now is to surprise her one morning while I'm on my 2 week leave in March fly her from Utah to Disneyland, show her a nice time and propose to her in the evening. If I could give her that one last surprise by getting her into club 33 it would mean the world.

So, is there like a bouncer I can slip a Benjamin to? Or someone who can get us in?? If not, the backup is to propose at our fav restaurant, the Blue Bayou.

Cheers!
Dustin

You may as well make your reservations at Blue Bayou now!

Yup, Called Disney because I was curious about getting into Club 33 and they told me that IF I purchased a VIP tour $295 and hour with a minimum of 4 hours they would take me up the elevator and I would get to see The Door.
I tried looking it up online and found that sometimes reservations are auctioned off for charity.. but they go for a couple thousand.

its hard to get into 33. you have to know someone who has a membership i am sure.. but i like the blue bayou idea! :thumbsup2 if you get a table out by the water that can be romantic also

hey good luck though, and if you get into 33 let us all know and how you did! :thumbsup2

Good luck to you! If I had a membership I would let you in for that. Thank you for your service.

When you make your PS for Blue Bayou, make sure you tell the CM what you are planning and to note it on you reservation. Hopefully that will help you get a waterside table.

They let you into the little lobby on the tours. Maybe you could speak to someone in the tour dept and they could get you into lobby after a romantic BB dinner and you could pop the question there. Not the same as getting a meal there but very romantic anywho.

Just a thought, but it is worth a try...You could write a letter to Disneyland and explain your situation. I know Disney is a very military-friendly corporation. I am sure that they receive many requests, but you have nothing to lose so give it a try. The worst thing is that they would say no. :goodvibes Good luck and thanks for all that you do for our country!

Since Club 33 is probably not gonna happen :(. There is the Snow White wishing well. Have her close eyes, toss in a coin in well, make a wish. When she opens her eyes guess who can be waiting on one knee-- Ya you -silly. Ask her to make your wish come true by being your wife.

There is the private dining -- I think it is called Sweet Heart something. You are served a specially prepared meal in the comfort of your lani. Some time duing meal Make the proposal.

I have also heard of requests being made with cast members to help out during the parades and events. It is my understanding Disney comes through with some great ideas. Make sure the camera is ready to capture the moment. Photo pass would be good choice.

I sure hope all works out. But at the end of the day Where, When, How, do not matter it is that you asked and she accepted :).

Oh, one more idea is napa Rose at Grand Californian. I am sure they will work with you to help plan the special moment :).

Aww that would be so cool im sorry club 33 most liekly wont happen but being asked to marry you at BB would still be very special I bet shed love it an ty for your service to our country I hope you an her have a wonderful time

umm the lani.. what is that? and the sweet heart meal .. where at disneyland is that?:confused3

Eesh. It's a great idea (and I totally sympathise - it drives me nuts to think I won't get into Club 33 on our visit in December!)... but I really doubt Disney would go for it. I know they're military-friendly, but you can't be the only person who's wanted to propose in Club 33 - they probably get several dozen requests a week! And if word got out that they let one couple with a good heart-tugging story in, can you imagine all the diehard Disney fans who would pretend to propose in order to get in? I can totally imagine people from Disney fan clubs and message boards teaming up for fake proposals, just to get a glimpse of the place... and I bet Disney management can too. Plus, once people know a certain perk is possible, they tend to view it as their right and get very insistent/rude if they don't get to "be special" in that way too. Like riding in the Lilly Belle, or steering the Mark Twain - you know? And from the Club's perspective, it would rather spoil the mood for the members if gawking and/or proposing couples were streaming in and out all the time.

So I can (reluctantly!) see why they don't make exceptions. From their perspective, it just makes sense. I agree that you could try writing a letter - no harm no foul! - but don't get your heart set on it. Assuming she says yes, the proposal will be special wherever it happens, and she'll be less distracted! :p

Oh sorry lani is a deck or balcony, even a porch. All of these are outside of course. We are lucky to own a condo over looking waikiki beach and as such I guess I have spent to much time in Hawaii --They call the deck, balcony and porch a lani :). Sort of like saying soda or pop depends on part of country you live or visit often.

The sweetheart dinners are put on through the wedding section of Disneyland web site. I have not looked lately but last time I did it was still available. I will see if I can find it there or somewhere-- There was a bride that did planning on the boards her wedding was actually shown on TV on a Disney Bride Wedding Special. Her beloved did the dinner and they placed pictures on the Dis. The dinner was at the Grand Californian. ( Hope I am remembering this correct). Any how that is all I know for now :).

I still think it never hurts to try....most people will just assume it is impossible like Smokering and not even try, so who knows, your letter might be the only one they receive that week. You just never know. :goodvibes I realize that it is a long, long, long shot, but all it costs you is a stamp.

just my opinion....(Yea, I am a hopeless optimist.)

Anyway, no matter where you propose, it will be such a wonderful event!!! :)

I would definetly write to Disney and see what can be done.

I asked my wife to remarry me in front of the Castle.

A longshot - but you could check out the ebay sellers of club 33 paraphernalia. Probably most aren't members, but you never know. Send an email and see what happens. Like I said - longshot - but if there's a will, there's a way!

You could also post your story on Craigslist.

Thanks everyone for the great tips and advice. I'll keep trying, but it sounds like I'll have to go with the backup.

At any rate, is it possible to have a park photography there to take pictures of us? Or even video?

Thanks!
Dustin
