For the First Time in Forever...I went to WDW Solo. A January 2014 TR

I then lined up to meet Mike and Sulley, where I waited 15 minutes. While I was waiting, I had an interesting time looking at the flyers from Monsters University, which added to the atmosphere of the queue.

Finally, I had the pleasure of meeting Mike and Sulley and as depicted below, they were very energetic and a lot of fun! :D

Since there was a performance of Mulch, Sweat, and Shears going on, I made my way back to the Streets of America in perfect time, as this group of rocking landscaping brothers were starting their performance. I have to agree with the Unofficial Guide's assessment of this show as the brothers were funny, very talented and encouraged a lot of audience participation, such as when they took an older lady from the audience and gave her cowbells (anyone know of the SNL joke with Blue Oyster Cult and the cowbells? :rotfl: ) so she could play along. If I remember correctly, they played "Start Me Up" by The Rolling Stones, "Come Sail Away" by Styx, and "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World. This is definitely a show that I would see again when in DHS!

Next, I made my way to The Great Movie Ride since The Backlot Tour was closed :(
1531965_10202705013963468_1014696498_o.jpg

I walked on and I was riding before I knew it. While I understand that this is an older ride, I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would. The sets and animatronics were very detailed, such as The Emerald City from "The Wizard of Oz" and riding through a gangster film scene, with simulated gunshots :o . In addition, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about movies, which added to the rides appeal.

After riding The Great Movie Ride, I went to visit One Man's Dream, a fascinating and informative exhibit on Walt Disney! :mickeyjum

After a fun filled day, I made my way back to Hollywood Boulevard at about 4:00PM, as I had pretty much completed my touring for the day. I was hoping to come back later for Fantasmic and I wanted to take a break. For my break, I wanted to visit the Yacht&Beach Club Resort, as my ladyfriends and others told me it is a very nice resort and I had never been there before. I planned to grab dinner, but I was not sure where? As I was heading out, I called my mom to let her know about my wonderful day and my evening plans. While I did not have it in mind, she told me to have dinner at the Cape May Cafe, as she heard that it was very good and she thought that I would like the fare :) . Thankful for my mom's recommendation, I went to catch the Epcot Resort water launch and I was looking forward to a fantastic evening! :mickeyjum

Yay another update! Lol great update. I love the picture of you Chip and Dale :) Can't wait to read more about your trip.:surfweb:

I'm just dying to know if u were able to get into Cape May without a reservation
Perfect cheekypoppins! :) I will be posting the trip report shortly and I am happy to report I was able to get in to Cape May without a reservation.

Great report! I'm enjoying your descriptions of your touring.
Thank you Shazzasmd! :) I am glad you like my descriptions as it is my pleasure to remember every detail of my trip to give you a magical trip report! :mickeyjum

Yay another update! Lol great update. I love the picture of you Chip and Dale :) Can't wait to read more about your trip.:surfweb:
Thank you xDisneyAngelx! :) The picture with Chip and Dale happens to be one of my favorite pictures. Don't worry, I will be posting an update shortly :) .

After I exited the Studios, I boarded the resort launch bound for Epcot and the Epcot Resort Area. The ride was relaxing and I arrived about ten to fifteen minutes later. After stepping off of the resort launch, I found the architecture to be grand and very evocative of a New England beach resort :D.
1614087_10202705035724012_1417740244_o.jpg

Upon my arrival, I made my way to Beach Club, marveled by Stormalong Bay, the pool complex (more like mini Waterpark) shared by the resorts. With it's sand beaches, lazy river, slides, and areas for swimming, I could probably spend my entire vacation here and never go to a park :rotfl . Despite the fact that it was a brisk day in the high 50s, I still saw a couple of people swimming and a lifeguard (I couldn't swim outside unless the temperatures were 60 degrees or higher and even still, 65-70 is preferred). When I am able to, I would definitely stay at the Yacht and Beach Club as Stormalong Bay is an amazing pool complex!
1040172_10202705035604009_1280925931_o.jpg

On my way in, a couple of sweet female cast members working the gift shop by Stormalong Bay said hello to me. Eventually, we conversed and I told them how I was happy to be visiting the resort. While I don't recall their names, I remember one of them was from Long Island, NY. She was from Bohemia, located in Suffolk County and she knew of Westbury as she knew people who lived in that area. The cast members then asked about my plans and I told them I was having dinner at the Cape May Cafe. They said I was in for a treat and that I would love it, especially for seafood. After chatting with the cast members for a bit and bid them farewell as they wished me a magical evening! Finally, I entered the Beach Club's bustling lobby, which was beautiful! It was very luxurious, but I found it more laid back than say, The Grand Floridian, which was an aspect I liked (I liked the GF too :) ). In addition, I also liked the large chandelier, which added a touch of class to the lobby.

Next, I went over to the Cape May's podium at about 4:40PM, as I wanted to see about dining there. The amiable hostess was happy to give me a tour of the buffet and I fell in love with it, as there were many choices like cheeses, salads, different types of crab and shrimp, salmon, sides, and desserts. It was also very well presented and the dining room was spacious and nicely decorated. Happy with my choice, the hostess gave me a buzzer and I would be seated right as the restaurant opened at 5:00PM for dinner.

Finally, my buzzer went off right around 5:00PM. The hostess led me to a plush booth facing the buffet and I was happy to be there!

Soon enough, James, my friendly and enthusiastic middle-aged waiter from Orlando greeted me. He took my order for a Diet Coke and also asked if I had any food allergies. I mentioned that I was allergic to eggs and wheat and he agreed to bring out Chef Robert. A couple of minutes later, Chef Robert came to my table and I found him to be friendly and very conscientious. He took me around the buffet and he was very thorough. He told me that the salads and hummus were fine but that the breads, for obvious reasons, were off limits. In addition, the Minnestrone soup was off limits as it contained pasta, but he told me not to worry as he would make me Minnestrone I could eat. The meats, shrimp, crab, paella, and seafood were also fine, as were most of the sides. Unfortunately, the Grilled Herb Salmon contained bread crumbs, but he did not want me to worry as he would make me a fresh batch of salmon without bread crumbs. Of course, desserts were off limits too, but if you read on, he had a surprise in store. Thankful for Chef Robert's guidance, I made my way to the buffet.

First, I started with salads. I enjoyed crisp mixed greens, a pleasantly sweet three bean salad, and a salty and piquant assortment of olives.
1496524_10202705036964043_1847659756_o.jpg

Next, I had an excellent assortment of cheeses. They included a salty and crumbly bleu cheese, sharp cheddar cheese cubes, mild Colby jack cheese, and two salty sticks of an Italian cheese that I do not recall the name of.
1523727_10202705036884041_93197768_o.jpg

James then brought my pasta free Minnestrone, which was delicious! The tomato based broth was salty and sweet and the vegetables added a great texture to the soup.
1606461_10202705036924042_429950096_o.jpg

Then, I had excellent shrimp with a slightly spicy cocktail sauce and boiled red potatoes. The shrimp were large, tender, and slightly sweet and the potatoes were well cooked with a pleasant earthy flavor.
1497942_10202705039204099_1428293064_o.jpg

Next, James brought me my delicious salmon, which was moist, flakey, and had a slightly zesty flavor from the herbs. I also got more red potatoes, a large ear of sweet corn, sweet and nutty sautéed butternut squash, and a sweet and salty stewed tomato.
1486152_10202705037004044_85908887_o.jpg

James then asked if Chef Robert could make me more salmon, but I told him that I was good as I was starting to get full :) . Before I made it back to the buffet, Genesis, another waiter, stopped by to say hi. He was very friendly and inquired about my satisfaction. I told him that everything was excellent, which pleased him. I overheard that the table he was serving also had gluten allergies, so I was definitely in good company and the other table agreed. I then got some fruit salad to cleanse my palette before dessert and I found it to be sweet and refreshing.
1534876_10202705039284101_2063408623_o.jpg

As I was enjoying my fruit, James told me that he had a special surprise for dessert. I thanked him and I waited patiently. A couple of minutes later, he brought out an assortment of desserts from Babycakes, which included four chocolate mini cupcakes, a chocolate donut, and two chocolate chip cookies. I was floored and very grateful. I told James that I know of Babycakes as I have tried them on my visits since 2011 and I love them as they make excellent gluten and egg free baked goods. While James did not have a gluten allergy, he mentioned that he bought the Babycakes cookbook as he has relatives with a lot of food allergies. When I mentioned how the chef at Chef Mickey's also offered me a vegan/gluten-free cupcake, he mentioned how Disney has a deal with Babycakes to distribute their baked goods in certain restaurants. We were both thankful for this and I had the pleasure of digging in a little bit. I only had the mini cupcakes, which were moist, had a deep chocolate flavor, and had creamy frosting.
903456_10202705039164098_1318876051_o.jpg

Since I was so full, James offered to box up my desserts, which was an offer I could not refuse. I then asked for the check, which he brought out a couple of moments later. He asked me if I had anything planned for the evening and I told him I would be seeing Fantasmic. He said not too miss it and that I should have sufficient time to make it, as it was about 6:20PM and Fantasmic was at 7:00PM. After my delicious meal, I paid my bill, thanked James for his excellent service, and headed to the ferry dock. Overall, I would definitely return to Cape May Cafe as the food was delicious, the service was excellent, and at about $40/person (I spent more like $50 as I left a 25% tip :) ), it was a great value. I would definitely return to the Cape May Cafe!

I arrived at the ferry dock, where the air was nippy with temperatures in the 40s. At the dock, I met a couple from Delray Beach, FL as well as a couple from Texas (I think from the Dallas area IIRC). I had an interesting time conversing with the couple from Delray Beach as my maternal grandparents used to have an apartment in Highland Beach, one town south of Delray. I also told them how I have visited Delray many times and feel that it is a great town. The couple from Delray Beach agreed and I also told the couple from Texas how I would love to visit The Lone Star State and they hoped I could make it! Finally, the resort launch arrived five minutes later and we were on our way to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Unfortunately, things did not go quite as planned as I never made it to Fantasmic. As we were approaching the Studios, the ferry captain announced that the time was 6:50PM and that "unless we sprinted from the entrance to Fantasmic, we would not have a chance of making it." He also mentioned that even if we made it into the park, we would still not have a great chance of making Fantasmic as they could close the gates. With this in mind, I changed my plans and after the resort launch arrived at the Studios, I made my way to my hotel's shuttle stop.

It was a shame that I did not get to see Fantasmic :( . However, I still had an awesome day and had a great time making a fantastic new discovery in the form of the Yacht&Beach Club and Cape May Cafe. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise as well as evening temperatures would be dropping into the high 30s (I even saw people in winter clothing shivering). After ten minutes of waiting, the shuttle arrived and I was back at the Hilton twenty minutes later.

When I arrived back at my room, I decided to take it easy for the night. I watched the news and as I was doing that, I tried the rest of my leftover desserts, which included a fluffy chocolate donut and sweet and crumbly chocolate chip cookies. After dessert, I got ready for bed and went to sleep at about 10:30PM. I was excited, but sad at the same time as tomorrow would mark my last full day in Disney World, with plans to visit the Magic Kingdom from opening to the afternoon and then have dinner at Fulton's and visit Downtown Disney :mickeyjum

noooooooooooooooo it can't end yet I'm having too much fun!!!! When are you going back?

I know it is a shame cheekypoppins :guilty: . However, I am glad you are having too much fun as my goal of the trip report is to make you feel like you are there :wizard: . I am not sure when I will be going back, but I hope it is sooner as opposed to later. Enjoy and I hope to have an update soon :) .

Such a great trip report. For some reason, I enjoy the solo ones more.

Can't wait for the next update...but don't want it to end at the same time.

Thank you DisneyGuy758! :) I am thrilled that you like my trip report as it is my pleasure to compose it and I guess there are less solo travelers, so I suppose I can't blame you :) .

I hope to have the next update by the end of the week and I agree, I don't want it to end either :( .

I have really enjoyed your trip report! You are a very good writer, and the teacher in me appreciates that! I do feel like I'm back at Disney because you write with such vivid detail. Hate for it to end, so you'll just have to go back soon! :thumbsup2 The only thing is...you kept me up late a few nights because I couldn't stop reading!! :rotfl2: Thank you, Wolf. Great job!

Friday, January 17th, my next to last full day in Disney had arrived :o . I woke up at 6:30AM once again to get ready for my last day. After waking up, I got ready like usual and had breakfast. Once again, the weather today was only hitting a high of 60, so I could not wear shorts and took my Northface vest and long sleeve shirt. I went downstairs at about 7:30AM to redeem one of my vouchers for a free small Starbucks coffee at the mini market. I called my mom next and she wished me a great day at the Magic Kingdom. Finally, I caught the first shuttle of the day to the Magic Kingdom, which would be my last shuttle ride to the theme parks. At about 8:30AM, we arrived at the Ticket & Transportation Center. While my original plan was to use the monorail as that is what I usually do, only the ferry was operating, so I walked over to the dock and a ferry arrived right when I made it. Since the ferry arrived I boarded with the rest of the the guests.
1074436_10202705039324102_1452060853_o.jpg

Onboard, the two adult sisters with the six-year old girl whom I met the day before going to DHS were very happy to see me again and said that their relative thought that Tiffany Towncar was excellent and was very thankful for my recommendation. During the approximately ten minute ride, we talked for a bit and before we knew it, we arrived at the Magic Kingdom ferry dock :mickeyjum . Once I arrived, I cleared security and scanned my ticket. At about 8:50AM, the morning welcome show, which featured Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, the Mayor and citizens of Main Street, the White Rabbit from "Alice and Wonderland," Princess Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog," and a family from Fort Lauderdale, FL commenced. This definitely added a nice dose of magic for my day and made me feel ready to take on the Magic Kingdom. Here are some pictures of the welcome show:

After the Magic Kingdom opened, I made my way to City Hall as I wanted to make Fastpass + reservations. This was my first time using the newly implemented system as when I was last at the Magic Kingdom, it was the last day of legacy Fastpass. I waited under five minutes and a friendly young female CM helped me make my attraction selection via an iPad. For my attraction selection, I chose Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at 10:00AM-11:00AM, Meet Cinderella and a Visiting Princess at Fairytale Hall at 11:00AM-12:00PM, and Space Mountain from 12:00PM-1:00PM. The CM then linked the reservations to my ticket and I was on my way to Pirates of the Caribbean at about 9:05AM and passed through Adventureland, as depicted below.

I arrived at Pirates of the Caribbean at 9:15AM and boarded with no wait. I enjoyed viewing a pirate's life and as always, the animatronics on this attraction are excellent. Since there was no line once again, I rode Pirates a second time :D . After riding Pirates, I made my way to Liberty Square, as I wanted to ride The Haunted Mansion.

At the Haunted Mansion, I encountered a fifteen minute wait, but it only took five minutes to get on. Before I knew it I was riding amongst happy haunts and grim grinning ghosts :D .

Since it was about 10:00AM, I went to Frontierland and thanks to my FP+ reservation, I walked right on to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and had the pleasure of riding "the wildest ride in the wilderness." After my ride on Big Thunder, the weather was starting to warm up a little bit, so I removed my vest and put it in my bag. I made my way to Fantasyland since I wanted to be nearby for my next FP+. The theming of the "Tangled"area, with the lanterns up above and the wanted signs for the pub thugs was very cool! Here's a picture of it:
1271696_10202705048124322_664243190_o.jpg

Next, it was off to ride It's A Small World, where the posted wait time was ten minutes but the actual wait was half of that. It was a relaxing ride and I enjoyed the fact that "It's A Small World" got stuck in my head lol :) .
1597201_10202705050924392_1015565711_o.jpg

Eleven o'clock was nearing and I made my way to Princess Fairytale Hall, which even from its exterior, was fit for a princess :).
1504357_10202705051004394_403641321_o.jpg

After I scanned my ticket, I was granted access and a friendly, older male CM gave me a Mickey sticker and he invited me to take pictures of the queue, despite the fact I did not use the standby line.

Finally, I was invited to enter the room where Cinderella and Princess Aurora were meeting and while I was waiting, I talked to a Character Handler, who was a sweet older female from Southeastern Pennsylvania. I told her how much I admired the decorating and she asked me if I could find the slipper in the wallpaper. It was a little hard to find at first, but I found it in the middle of the design. Finally, it was time to meet Cinderella :D .

Cinderella was very sweet and beautiful. After we exchanged greetings, I told her how her meeting place was fit for a princess and she said how Prince Charming was responsible for all of the decorating. She then asked if I had met her stepfamily? I told her I did not and I asked her how they were doing? She said that they were doing well and that they were working on their manners. When I mentioned watching the sequels to Cinderella and how I saw Anastasia reform, she mentioned that Anastasia was much nicer and was in a good relationship with The Baker (she met him in the 1st sequel). I said that I would try to meet them and Cinderella was very happy.

After I had the pleasure of meeting Cinderella, I met Princess Aurora who was also very sweet and beautiful! She asked me about my day and I told her I was up early. She asked if I was picking berries and I told her I was (I had to play along :) ). She then asked if I saw any dragons? I told her I did not but that I had a sword at the ready just in case. She remarked that I was very brave just like Prince Philip.
77494_10202705053364453_150470157_o.jpg

After meeting her, she wished me a magical day and I was on cloud nine after meeting both princesses! :D I then walked into the gift shop, which continued the beauty of Princess Fairytale Hall.
1524193_10202705053284451_1041858527_o.jpg

I still had time left until my next FP+ at Space Mountain, so I continued to explore Fantasyland, ultimately visiting Mickey's Phillarmagic next.

Great job!

Thank you DisneygirlTeacher! :D What you said about feeling like you are back at Disney is quite the compliment :thumbsup2 . I know how you feel, but I hope to go back soon and create more memories :woohoo: . Oh my, well I know that feeling when you are reading something and can't stop! That's one of the greatest compliments I have received, so I thank you for that. You're very welcome and I look forward to writing more! :woohoo:

After meeting the princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall, I made my way to Mickey's Phillarmagic. Once I got there, I waited five minutes and the audience was admitted to the theater. After being admitted, I had the pleasure of watching this 3-D show and it happens to be one of my favorites. While I feel bad for the fact that it seems like Donald Duck is the but of everyone's jokes as he tries to save Mickey's sorcerer hat, you cannot beat the combination of classic Disney films like "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," and "Peter Pan." For someone who is into classic Disney films with a new twist, this an attraction that I would definitely recommend :D
Since I still had a little more time until my Fastpass+ reservation at Space Mountain, I went back around Cinderella's Castle and I saw that Dream Along with Mickey was playing. I decided to watch and I was impressed with the many characters, the attention to detail and the message of believing in your dreams. Here are some pictures:

Since it was just a little past 12:00PM, I made my way to Tomorrowland.
1606322_10202705058884591_412413168_o.jpg

According to the clock on top of the entrance to the Video Arcade, I entered the FP+ line at 12:15PM.
1617794_10202705058764588_738866951_o.jpg

I walked right on and I had a magical time blasting off to the galaxy. Space Mountain is one of my favorite attractions and you cannot beat the combinations of twists and turns hurtling you through the darkness of space. Since I was feeling hungry after riding Space Mountain, I decided to stop at nearby Cosmic Ray's for lunch, as I had good experiences dining there in the past.
1606386_10202705058804589_843477727_o.jpg

While I was waiting to order, I chatted with a mother who was visiting with her seven-year old daughter from Virginia. If I remember correctly, she was wearing a piece of jewelry that had Princess Jasmine on it and I admired it, as Princess Jasmine happens to be one of my favorite Disney princesses. We talked about our trips and the mother had mentioned they had met a lot of characters and went on many attractions. After chatting with the mother and her daughter, it was my turn to order. I placed my order for a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with no bun and a side of cucumber salad as well as an iced tea to drink. The cast member who helped me was very friendly and as soon as I mentioned no bun, he summoned Dolores, the Manager on duty. I found her to be accommodating and friendly and since I had egg and wheat allergies, she offered me a gluten and egg free EnerG bun. I said yes and thanked her and after waiting ten minutes I had my food. Before eating, I went over to the toppings bar, which was bountiful and topped my sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, sautéed onions, and sautéed mushrooms. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, which had juicy and tender grilled chicken on a crispy and soft toasted EnerG bun, fresh and crisp vegetables, and sweet, tangy, and refreshing cucumber salad.

After a delicious and filling lunch, I decided to do some more touring while the weather was warming up. Back in Fantasyland, I noticed that Lady Tremaine and The Stepsisters were meeting and the line was short, so I decided to line up. While I was waiting, I chatted with a young woman from Texas, who was visiting the parks solo while her husband was on a business trip in the area. We talked about how we were both touring the parks solo and how it turned out to be even more enjoyable than we thought it would, as we could tour on our own clocks. Five minutes later, I was meeting Cinderella's stepfamily. While Anastasia was pleasant if not a little loud, true to their characters, Lady Tremaine and Drizella were condescending (not in a bad way) but funny at the same time. After talking for a little bit, we took a good picture, though I was the only one who was not making a funny gesture . After our meeting, I wished Lady Tremaine and The Stepsisters a magical day and Drizella said, "I hope it's not black magic" to her mother and sister :rotfl2: .

Since the waits for attractions were getting lengthy and I eventually had to leave the Magic Kingdom to get ready for my ADR at Fulton's, I decided to head to Adventureland and visit the Enchanted Tiki Room.
1614269_10202705060684636_847770023_o.jpg

I waited less than five minutes to enter and I was ready to enjoy what would be my next to last attraction on this visit. Despite the fact that this was my next to last attraction, I still enjoyed it as I enjoyed hearing José, Pierre, Fritz, and the rest of the tiki birds sing classic songs like "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room." After this attraction ended and since waits were still long, I checked out The Swiss Family Treehouse.
1048132_10202705060644635_1889075755_o.jpg

While this is not a major attraction, it was definitely a neat diversion as the details were amazing and the climbing helps to burn off energy. After visiting the Swiss Family Treehouse, I lined up to have my last Pineapple Float from Aloha Isle. I waited fifteen minutes to order as it was crowded, but I passed the time by talking to a mother who was visiting with her nearly teenaged daughter from Gainesville, FL. They were visiting the Magic Kingdom for the daughter's birthday weekend and were staying in Orlando with her grandparents for the night. For some reason, we ended up talking about Disney World food and how it has gotten better ever since they opened and I happened to agree, as I feel the options and quality keep getting better each time I visit. Finally, I ordered my Pineapple Float and since I was about to call it a day, I made my way to Main Street USA. Little did I know that Mickey had Disney magic planned for me before I left :smickey: . The magic was in the form of the lively and festive Move it!Shake it!Celebrate it! Street Party.

As the parade, I made my way to the exit. I was sad to be leaving as in nearly 24 hours, I would be on a Delta jet back to JFK, but I knew that I would be back sometime. The cast members at the exit wished me "a magical day" and I wished them a magical day back. I then walked up to the monorail platform, where an Express Monorail was arriving and boarded it. Fifteen minutes later, I arrived at the TTC and it was about 3:15PM. Since I had fifteen minutes until the 3:30PM shuttle to the Hilton arrived, I went to the Chase ATM to withdraw a small amount of money so I would have a tip for my driver back to MCO. The shuttle arrived on schedule and twenty minutes later, I arrived at the Hilton. I still had about 2.5 hours until my ADR, so I prepared for the next day to make for an easier departure. A magical evening was ahead and I was looking forward to it!

In my last update, I was having another magical day at the Magic Kingdom :woohoo: . After taking the shuttle from the TTC back to the Hilton, I arrived at about 3:50PM. Since my flight would be leaving in 24 hours , I went over to the computer lounge by the concierge to print my boarding passes from Delta.com. According to the paper on which my boarding passes were printed, I had finished the task at 4:01PM. Once this task was finished, I went up to my room, where I packed for the next hour and fifteen minutes. After packing, I called Tiffany Towncar to confirm my ride to MCO at 12:30PM on 1/18/2014. Unfortunately, they did not answer when I first called as I got an answering machine. Thankfully, they called me back less than five minutes later confirming that my ride was set and that my driver would be Mauro, the same driver who took me from MCO to the Hilton :cool1:. After that, I left my room at 5:30PM to go to Downtown Disney, where I would be having dinner at Fulton's in an hour. About five minutes later, I entered the Downtown Disney Marketplace.

I walked around and checked out various stores, as depicted below:

I finally ended up in World of Disney again, where I looked at the various departments and had a nice dose of retail therapy. My mom called at that moment and wondered what I was doing? I told her that I was visiting World of Disney. She asked me if I saw any more plush Mickeys and Minnies? I told her that I saw a medium-sized plush Minnie with a Minnie visor and I offered to take a picture of it and text it to her. After I texted the picture, mom decided that she loved it and I bought it for her. Once I purchased the Minnie, I walked around Downtown Disney while the sun was still setting and I went to Fulton's at about 6:20PM.
1504513_10202705070764888_2078810540_o.jpg

It was nice to be back at Fulton's Crab House and it was bustling! Once I got in, I checked in with a friendly hostess, who would make sure that I was seated within fifteen minutes. As promised, I was seated at about 6:35PM on the lower deck of the Empress Lilly on the left side with a view of Paradiso 37 and a bit of the water. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, which was nautical (of course) but classy, with a lit candle on the table.
1506291_10202705070884891_1046784089_o.jpg

Jennifer, my friendly and enthusiastic waitress, introduced herself and took my drink order for a Diet Coke. Before she brought me my drink, I looked at the menu and was not sure if I wanted the Mahi-Mahi or the Grouper, as I like both types of fish. When Jennifer returned with my Diet Coke, I mentioned my allergies to egg and wheat and that I was undecided on the Mahi or the Grouper with a Baked Potato. She brought out the chef about a minute later and I don't remember his name, but I remember that he was very friendly and accommodating. The chef and Jennifer recommended the Grouper with an Avocado Relish and Sautéed Greens and they said that it did not contain eggs or wheat, which was great! For about the next 20 minutes, I relaxed and took in the scenery, including the Characters in Flight balloon flying in the night sky. Finally, my dinner arrived.
1614309_10202705079565108_459645755_o.jpg

I thought that the portion size was good and that the dish was well presented. The Grouper was excellent as it was moist, flaky, and had a delicious and deep wood grilled flavor. The avocado relish was smooth and creamy and the sautéed greens were tender and well cooked. In addition, the Baked Potato that I ordered had a salty crust on the skin, was large in size, and well cooked. After I savored my dinner, Jennifer asked me if I wanted dessert? I declined as I would be going to Ghiradelli later and asked for the check, as I was very satisfied after eating my delicious dinner. Based on this experience, I would definitely return to Fulton's Crab House as the food was delicious and the service was excellent, even though it is on the pricey side (it's worth the splurge if you like seafood). I left Fulton's at about 7:40PM and I toured Downtown Disney a little more. On the stage by the water, there was going to be a dance recital at about 9:00PM, but in the meantime, festive music, like "1999" by Prince, was playing and contributing to the festive mood. I then decided it was time for dessert to Ghiradelli, as the smell of chocolate and ice cream coming from there was intoxicating. Not surprisingly, it was crowded, but a friendly and efficient cast member took my order for a Famous Hot Fudge Sundae with Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream within five minutes. She gave me a placard for a table and I took a table outside. Within a few minutes, a friendly older employee delivered my sundae. The huge Famous Hot Fudge Sundae was excellent, with smooth, creamy, and rich chocolate and vanilla ice creams, warm and rich hot fudge, fluffy whipped cream, salty and crunchy chopped nuts, and of course, a cherry!
1090953_10202705079485106_796868585_o.jpg

After my dessert, my mom called me. She wanted to know about my evening and I told her it was lovely, as I had an excellent dinner as well as dessert. She asked what I was doing and I told her I would be going to World of Disney once more to engage in a little more retail therapy :) . Mom asked me to see if there were more plush Mickeys and Minnies and I happily agreed to this task. Back at the World of Disney, I saw a small plush Mickey wearing a 2014 Disney World shirt and hat as well as a small plush Minnie wearing similar attire. I texted a picture of the Mickey and the Minnie and mom loved them, so I bought them. Once again, a friendly cast member took care of my purchases and had me on my way. Since it was about 9:30PM and I wanted to be well rested for my trip home, I walked back to the Hilton. Once I got to my room, I plugged in my iPhone and iPad so they would both be fully charged, I packed the souvenirs, set a wakeup call for 9:00AM, and got ready for bed. When all was said and done, I got to bed at around 11:30PM. Tomorrow, I would be leaving Walt Disney World and while I was a bit sad :sad1:, I was also happy to be going home to my parents, two dogs, and nine guinea pigs :) .

After five fun filled and magical days in Disney World, January 18th, 2014 arrived. I woke up at the stroke of 9:00AM after my room phone rang with my wake-up call. Since I would be leaving for Orlando International Airport at 12:30PM and the check out time was 11:00AM, my plans for the morning were to get ready and pack my very last minute items (like my toothbrush), eat breakfast at the Covington Mill's (one of the Hilton's restaurants) breakfast buffet at about 10:00AM (eating a large breakfast on my last day is a tradition of mine), be out of my room by 11:00AM, and wait in the lobby until 12:30PM. Once I got up, I got ready and did some last minute packing, like taking care of my last minute items and rearranging some souvenirs so that my bags would not be too heavy. At about 9:30AM, I called my mom to wish her a good morning and tell her about my plans. While we were talking, mom told me how she was going to be grooming Gwendolyn and Arabella, my two Affenpinschers so that they would be prepared for my arrival that evening. I told her not to worry as I would just be happy to see everyone again, but she insisted anyway. After talking for about ten minutes, mom wished me a good breakfast and I went downstairs to the Covington Mill at about 9:45AM. Before that, I also grabbed a free copy of Saturday's Wall Street Journal from the Concierge. Despite the fact that it was busy, I did not wait long and I was seated immediately.
1421035_10202705079525107_1859057225_o.jpg

Since I was last at the Covington Mill back in 2011, I thought it looked the same as before, with a casual and clean atmosphere. Within two minutes, my waitress, Ya-Ling, came to my table. She was very friendly and efficient. I ordered an orange juice and coffee for my beverages as well as turkey bacon or turkey sausage, since I do not eat pork bacon or pork sausage due to my triglyceride issues. When I called the Covington Mill before my trip to see if they had an alternative to pork bacon or sausage available, they did indeed and thankfully, my waitress told me that turkey sausage was available at no charge, so turkey sausage it was! Since the turkey sausage would be a few minutes as they needed to cook it, I went to the buffet, where I got a plate of grits, breakfast potatoes, and a grilled tomato with cheddar. It was a great start, as the grits were creamy and slightly salty, the breakfast potatoes, which were cut in a circular fashion and served with tomatoes and scallions, were salty, earthy, and a little greasy (in a good way), and the grilled tomato was sweet with sharp cheddar cheese. In addition, the coffee was robust and the orange juice was sweet and tangy. It was definitely an excellent start to my breakfast!
1500794_10202705079685111_1638202399_o.jpg

While I was eating, I read Dan Neil's section of the WSJ, as he was talking about the Detroit Auto Show that had happened while I was on my trip. In the article, he talked about how the American car makers are introducing nice new cars, like the 2015 Ford F-150 and 2015 Chrysler 200 to name a couple of examples. I then received my turkey sausage patties (I could get more don't worry), which were juicy and tender.
1614083_10202705081045145_323869652_o.jpg

My waitress then came by to refill my OJ and coffee, as they were running a little low. While I was eating, I could not help but notice that Khadijah (spelling?), another waitress was working a different section. I remember her from my 2011 stay at the Hilton as she also provided excellent service and according to some TripAdvisor reviews, many other people feel the same. When she came by, I said hello and to my surprise, she actually remembered me somewhat. We had a great time chatting with each other, mostly about my trip and in addition, it was pretty cool to see a face from the past! After chatting with Khadijah, I got some more breakfast potatoes and a grilled tomato with cheddar. Finally, for my last course, I got some sweet and refreshing fruit salad as well as a banana.
1522901_10202705080925142_793808788_o.jpg

About an hour after I arrived at the Covington Mill, I finished my breakfast and paid my bill, which was about $25 after a 20% tip. I would definitely dine at the Covington Mill again if I were staying at the Hilton as the food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the price at about $20 for the buffet was not a bad value. Since all of my bags were packed, I did a final check of my room to make sure that I had all of my belongings and indeed I did, so I went downstairs to the lobby at 11:00AM. As I was heading downstairs, my mom called once again to check on me. I told her that I had a delicious breakfast and that I had just checked out of my room. She was happy about that and she mentioned how proud of me she was for going solo, as she knows that I am very trustworthy and that she would not send me if I were not trustworthy. I thanked her for this compliment, as it meant a lot tome as I felt empowered to be taking my first solo trip and I had a wonderful time. Since she had to do some errands, she let me go and I agreed to call her again when I got to MCO. Downstairs, I saw Jill, the bellhop, and she asked me about my stay. I told her it was excellent and she was very glad. As we were talking, my phone rang as my grandpa was calling. He was warning me of a possible flight delay and that I should check my flight status before I go due to the fact that it snowed a little in New Jersey. I thanked him and told him not to worry. With that it mind, I first check the weather in New York and thankfully, it had not snowed. Next, I checked flights between JFK and MCO and noticed that flights were running on time. With that in mind, I had nothing to worry about :) . At around 11:30AM, my lady friends texted me, as they wanted to know how I was doing and about my travel plans, such as my flight information (which I was happy to give). We texted for about 20 minutes and then Mauro, my driver from Tiffany called. He wanted to ask me if I minded being picked up 25 minutes before my 12:30PM pickup time, as he was dropping off a customer at the Holiday Inn next door. Since I was ready, I gladly accepted his offer. At 12:05PM, Mauro arrived in his beige Lincoln Towncar and I bid the wonderful staff of the Hilton farewell after an excellent stay! He loaded my bags into the trunk and we were on our way. Before we pulled out of the Walt Disney World Resort, my dad called me to wish me a safe flight. After that, Mauro turned right off of Hotel Plaza Blvd onto FL-535, then getting onto I-4 east towards Orlando. While we were driving, we talked about my trip in it's many facets and he was very impressed. The time flew and before we knew it, we were nearing Exit 72 for The Beachline Expressway (FL-528).
1487822_10202705080805139_1546760612_o.jpg

He got onto FL-528 and he wanted to know if I had stayed at other Disney properties. I told him I have not, but that I would like to. He said that he likes the Disney properties due to the benefits and the excellent customer service that goes above and beyond. I agreed that the service was excellent. He didn't say that the Hilton was bad, as he said their customer service is excellent as well (and I agreed), but that there is no one quite like Disney. We also talked about various airports in Florida and compared them, as I mentioned that I wanted to leave enough time to get to MCO as the security lines can be long! He said that it is true at times, but that they are well organized considering the heavy traffic it gets being a major transportation hub in Central Florida. While Orlando is one of my favorite airports in Florida, Palm Beach International Airport is another favorite of mine (from flying to South Florida many times though I used Fort Lauderdale as well) and I mentioned it. I like Palm Beach International Airport as while it has the services of a larger airport, like being capable of handling international flights and offering free wifi, it is a very clean airport and it has a nice small town feel that you would not find at MIA, FLL, or MCO. This is also makes it convenient, as lines aren't as long (the last time I used PBI, I waited 10 minutes to get through security). However, I added that unlike MCO, PBI does not have the level of service MCO has (from PBI, you could go to the Northeast US, pretty much every major airline hub, and more recently, LAX on AA). Mauro agreed and was enjoying our conversation. Thirty minutes later, I arrived at the Orlando International Airport. Once again, Mauro from Tiffany gave me an excellent ride and if I needed a car service in Orlando, Tiffany would be my first choice . I had planned to check my bag at the curb, but an employee told me the line was shorter inside, so I checked in inside. While I waited, I talked to a family from Minneapolis, who were carrying an exotic mask they purchased at the Animal Kingdom. They had visited all four Disney parks and the Kennedy Space Center and had a wonderful time. Ten minutes, later, James, a friendly Delta check-in agent, tagged my bag for New York-JFK and had me on my way. I had more than enough time to spare until my flight, but I decided to head to security after snapping a couple of pictures of MCO. But before that, I would like to add my flight information, as I did in my earlier updates for my flight home. Here it is:

To my surprise, I only waited fifteen minutes to clear security, which was excellent being that MCO is a busy airport and it being a Saturday. The TSA agents were friendly, thorough, and did a good job keeping everything organized. I then took the fake monorail over to Airside B and talked to a friendly woman heading to Birmingham, AL. Since it was a little after 1:00PM and my flight would not be boarding until 3:15PM, I decided to get a small meal of a Grilled Chicken Salad and a Perrier from the Outback Outpost. The salad was pretty good, with tender grilled chicken and crisp lettuce and at about $11 for the Perrier and salad, the price was not too bad. I sat in the atrium of the clean and airy Orlando International Airport and relaxed. After I finished my food, I used the restroom and decided to head to my gate as it was nearing 2:00PM. On my way to the gate, I met a nice German youth heading to Düsseldorf via Atlanta. I then went to Gate 77 and began to plane spot for awhile. However, before plane spotting, I met a Standard Poodle named Adele, who was a therapy dog traveling with her owner to Kansas City, MO. She was very friendly and beautiful.

After meeting Adele, I began to plane spot for the next half hour. Here are some pictures:

I then took a seat at the gate and met another young German gentleman, who was travelling to New York-JFK and continuing onto Frankfurt on Delta. He was visiting his friends who lived in the Orlando area and he went to the beach twice and visited the Kennedy Space Center and Epcot. We talked about our lives, German industry (particularly cars, as I have a Mercedes), and even German affairs, including the Holocaust unfortunately :( . He mentioned that he was ashamed of the Holocaust happening and asked me about my family’s history. As a Jew, I told him that my grandparents survived but a few of their relatives did not make it. He was very sorry to hear that, but I told him that Germany has come a very long way from its days during the Third Reich, and he happily agreed as N3764, the Boeing 737-800 that would take me back to JFK, arrived from its JFK-MCO run.

1617439_10202705087605309_1859984092_o.jpg

Unfortunately, about 30 minutes before boarding, a middle-aged to older gentleman fell unconscious . I was unable to see what happened, but passengers travelling with him were worried. If I am not mistaken, he passed out from low blood sugar. The paramedics arrived and thank god, the gentleman regained consciousness and was able to travel onboard our flight. While this was a scary event and could have turned for the worst, I am glad that the event turned for the best and that the man was fine in the end.
With not much time to spare, I made a last minute restroom run and then called my parents, to let them know that all was well with me. I told them when I would be home, estimating at about 8:00PM assuming we arrived exactly on time. At about 3:30PM, boarding began for Delta 2444 back to New York-John F. Kennedy International Airport. I boarded in Zone 1, ready to head home.
I boarded Delta 2444 via the jetway, which was not as long as the one for my flight from JFK and entered the 737 via doorway 1L. A young female flight attendant, who was a brunette, welcomed me aboard cheerfully. I made my way past the First Class cabin and headed to Seat 15F. First impressions of this aircraft were that it was in near perfect (if not perfect shape) and it was very clean. This aircraft did not have in seat headrests like the 757 I came in on, but it had a comprehensive IFE system with satellite TV. Not unlike Delta 425, I found the seat comfort to be fine. Pitch was adequate, especially for someone who was 5’7” as my knees did not touch the seatback and I had plenty of width.
imagejpg2_zpsb34954d7.jpg

As boarding continued, I could see that it was going to be a crowded flight, as many people, overjoyed after visiting Orlando and all of its wonders, were filling up the plane. A little bit later, my seatmate, a young Hispanic man, joined me in Seat 15F. He was cordial, but did not want to talk much as he just wanted to sleep. While boarding was continuing, Arnethra, a middle-aged African American flight attendant, stopped by to say hello, thank me for flying Delta, and wish me a good flight. She was very cheerful and eager to please. The good luck continued, as once again, the middle seat next to me was unoccupied :cool1:.
imagejpg1_zpse1adf2e0.jpg

At about ten to four, the captain came on the PA to inform us of our 2-hour flight time. As soon as the boarding process closed, we pushed back and the safety video rolled.
With no planes in front of us, we took off to the east at only ten minutes behind schedule at 4:06PM. The aircraft’s engines were quick and before we knew it, we were at 10,000 feet and leaving inland Florida near Daytona Beach. I plugged my headphones into my iPhone and enjoyed listening to The Beatles, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Who, The Clash, and Elton John. While I was listening to music, I played inflight trivia (once again I did not win) and watched Fox News and CNN, as there was not anything on TV that I wanted to watch.
imagejpg3_zpsda5e29ce.jpg

About ¼ way into the flight, Arnethra and another friendly flight attendant, who was middle-aged with brown hair and glasses, began the snack service. I requested the whole can of Minute Maid Orange Juice and Peanuts. Arnethra was happy to grant my request for the whole can and in addition to my snack, threw in a bag of Pretzels and Biscoff cookies without asking. While I more than appreciated this, I gave the Pretzels and Biscoff cookies to my seatmate, as I was unable to eat these items due to my egg and wheat allergies. Despite my allergies, I appreciated that Arnethra went the extra mile and observed she treated every other Economy passenger as if they were flying in First Class. According to the moving map, we followed the Atlantic Coast along Georgia, the Carolinas, and Virginia. Around Virginia, Arnethra came around with a second round of beverages, which was unexpected and appreciated, especially being that this was a 2-hour flight. After the second round of beverage service, I watched some more TV and as we were getting closer to New York, I saw that the plane was over the coast of Maryland and we had about 45 minutes until our estimated arrival, which was to be about 30 minutes early. I got ready by unplugging and packing my headphones and making a last minute restroom run. As I was about to use the lavatory in the rear of the plane, I ran into Arnethra once again, who inquired about my well-being and asked me if she could offer me anything else to eat or drink. I did not take her up on her offer, but I thanked her and told her that along with the rest of the crew, made this flight an excellent end to my wonderful time in Disney World. Arnethra and her coworker thanked me and appreciated my kind words. I used the lavatory and headed back to my seat, awaiting my arrival.
At about 5:40PM, the captain began our descent to JFK. Along the way and with the moving map’s guidance, I was able to see the Jersey Shore. We followed the Jersey Shore until about Sandy Hook, NJ and we took a slight northeastern turn over the Atlantic. Little did I know that this approach would be one I had not done arriving on a flight from Florida to JFK? I could see that we were flying over Jones Beach State Park in Central Nassau County. We continued northeast into Nassau County near Hicksville/Jericho followed by a left turn to follow the Northern State Parkway for a bit. Next, we turned southwest and flew over Western Nassau. I knew that we were getting close to JFK when I saw the brightly lit bull’s-eye of the Target on Sunrise Highway (NY-27) in Valley Stream from the left side of the plane. Finally, we made a smooth landing on Runway 22L. We arrived at JFK at 6:03PM, 28 minutes ahead of schedule! The reason that I was surprised by our approach is because most of my flights from Florida into JFK have taken the Canarsie approach or have come in around Southwest Nassau to land. This approach was a first for me!
Once we landed at JFK, we taxied over to Terminal 2 and when the passengers got the all clear to use electronic devices, I called my mom. We parked at Gate C67, directly across from Terminal 1. I gathered my belongings and disembarked, happy to be back in New York after another excellent flight on Delta. I thanked the flight attendant who greeted me when I got on the plane and she thanked me as well and hoped to see me again soon.
Just to note, I had not been in Terminal 2 since 2007 to go from JFK-FLL, as most of my Delta JFK flights since then have used Terminal 3. Since I remembered Terminal 2 being a dump, I was not sure what it would be like now. After I disembarked the plane, I could see that it was a little better than it used to be as it looked a little cleaner and had better dining options, similar to what Delta did at LaGuardia. However, after a quick escalator ride from my gate, the baggage claim area proved to be the same as I remembered last. Not only did the baggage claim area look decrepit, as the belt looked worn and the floor was dirty. In addition, a couple of gentlemen attempted to solicit me for a ride as I got off the escalator. I declined their offers and would advise others arriving into this terminal or any other to use any method of reputable transportation and not accept offers from these solicitors. Fifteen minutes later, my checked bag came off of the claim nearest and to the left of the escalator banking. Overall, Delta's JFK Terminal 2 was no Orlando International Airport or JFK Terminal 4.
At 6:31PM, I used my Carmel Car & Limousine iPhone application to let my driver know that I was ready to leave the airport. This application proved to be useful and easy, as it showed where my driver was in real time.

Five minutes later, Vera, my driver, showed up in a burgundy Toyota Avalon. Vera was friendly and got me home to Central Nassau in 25 minutes using the Belt and Southern State Parkways eastbound and the Meadowbrook Parkway northbound.I arrived home at about 7:06PM, with my mom and my two dogs eager to see me. While I missed being in Disney World, I was happy to see my mom, two dogs, and nine guinea pigs again :woohoo: . However, I still miss Disney World and I hope to return soon :mickeyjum.

Another great job! So glad your first solo trip went so well. There is no place like Disney and it's nice to be able to visit it through someone else's eyes. I also noticed that you love dogs like I do! I have three rescue dogs (two dachshunds and a yorkie). My sister runs a therapy dog group out west and when you met the therapy dog in the airport it reminded me of her. They do wonderful work with children in foster care. Thanks for the report! A+!!:cheer2::thumbsup2
