Does anyone know why it is difficult to find a room at discount for first week of December? Is this the week they start filming?

Because folks snagged up a bunch of the discounted rooms earlier. It's a popular time to go.

Nope they moved to a November schedule for the recording of the Holiday segments.

Does anyone know why it is difficult to find a room at discount for first week of December? Is this the week they start filming?

The first week of December is very popular for several reasons. The special Christmas events at Epcot, like Candlelight Processional and Storytellers, have begun. The Disney resort rooms are at their lowest cost for December. And there were a lot of different types of discounts that were offered for this period.
