I have a friend joining me on a Disney trip this weekend, and they realized they don't have a decent bathing suit for this year yet. since the weather up here in PA is still hovering around freezing, there aren't a lot of options available yet up here for a last minute purchase.

We were thinking she could get one once we hit Florida, but I recall that there are quite a few places that can be somewhat...expensive, in the area.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good place to point them too where they could try and find a decent bathing suit in tourist area and not have to give up their first born in the process?

I'm pretty familiar with finding my way around down there, but i don't believe she's ever been down there.... or at least, not anytime recently. I'd kind of prefer someplace I can easily give them directions to so they can swing by once arriving before we meet up, but if needed I could always help them find the place.

We've bought a number of inexpensive swim suits because we forgot one or needed something new in Orlando. We've simply gone to the "junk" stores (you know the Gifts type places with all the trinkets) and paid very little for swimsuits that may not be todays fashion but serve their purpose and cost very little. In fact looking in my swimsuit drawer I've got 6-10 of those myself from the past 10 years & I still use them. A couple are now pretty worn but I still use them at home for pool maintenance or a quick swim witout reusing an already wet suit. Why pay a lot for a swimsuit? Its for recreation not a walk on the red carpet.

My suggestion would be the Wal-Mart on Turkey Lake Road, not too far from the Sand Lake Road exit off I-4. Take Sand Lake Road west a short distance to Turkey Lake Road. Turn left, and the Wal-Mart will be about one mile down on the right. Street address is 8990 Turkey Lake Road, Orlando. I make a stop there on most visits to get bottled water, souvenirs at non-extortionate prices, maybe a misting fan, etc. They should be pretty good with clothing, too.

Side note: You will see a Whole Foods at Sand Lake Road and Turkey Lake Road. They have great sandwiches in there, a bit pricey, but then again if you've been buying theme park food all day, everything's relative. ;)

I know exactly which Walmart you are refering too. If I recall correctly, it was the Grocery store (Whole Foods), A bank, and a Gas Station on that corner. There is also (coming from I4) a Chickfila just past the light on the right, and McDonalds (one of the Bistro one's in the french villa/castle theme) up on the left.

.....wow.... I know my way around down there WAY too well for someone who hasn't been in a couple years. :rotfl:

Oceola Parkway has a bunch of spots. I know there is a Kohls, WalMart and I think a Marshalls or TJMaxx. I'm sure you could google The Loop to see what stores are in there. There is also a 5 Guys burgers over there - Yum!!

You will not have any problems buying a bathing suit in Orlando.

My wife says, without question, the best place for a bathing suite with a good selection and great prices is the Vanety Fair store at the Lake Buena Vista outlet mall on 535.

If its at all posible for you I would highly recommend going to Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach! There are 1000's of swimsuits to choose from! I LOVE that store! :cool1:

I found a really nice Jantzen Suit in Vanity Fair Outlet store (535). It was a great price.

As impressive as the Cocoa Beach Ron Jon's is to see, it is an hour or so away. There's also a Ron Jon's in Orlando in the Festival Bay Mall near the northern tip of International Drive.

Also Macy's, Dillard, etc. at the Florida Mall.

I was going to suggest the Walmart too. Last time we got bottled water, and stuff there. Including sunblock, since it was 8$ cheaper than at the parks.

There's a great store called Everything but Water in the Florida Mall. They carry a wide variety of designer and specialty suits, but they do tend to be a little pricey.

I'm from the frozen north too, and the Penney's, Macy's, and Bon-Ton stores are loaded with suits. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't the same in the Galleria or Manchester Malls!!! Just wait for a good weekend sale!

A lady/girl can find stylish, well-made bathing suits at a number of places in the big outlet mall near WDW. If she finds them a bit pricy, $25 should get her something she won't be embarrassed of at Gap or Old Navy over there.

Just bought 2 Speedo bathing suits, very good quality and so comfortable @ $19.99 each. Terrific price! :thumbsup2

I was reluctant to suggest the Costco because a store membership is required to shop there. Also, I believe the Orlando location is a bit of a trip from the tourist district -- somewhere over near OBT, maybe? But if you are already a member, it's worth considering. A couple of years ago, I actually bought a mini-fridge there with a coupon and hauled it over to the Pop (!?) ... heh.

You could always try Target near your home. I live in MI and our Target already has all of the swimsuits out.
