Considering a new little love but this one I want to train to travel in a bag immediately so going on a plane will be easy breezy.

What is your favorite and what perks or tips can you offer?

We like the Pet Gear rolling carrier/backpack. The large size holds 2 cats comfortably, works as a carseat, and can be a backpack (DH's preference) or a rolling bag (my preference). Haven't yet taken it on a plane, but it has worked well for other travel. Durability is good -- ours is still in great condition after years of use.

The Sherpa carrier gets good reviews from people we know.

My daughter has traveled cross country with her kitty in a Sherpa carrier with no problems. The first bag she bought was a Tuft-Paw carrier that claimed to be TSA compliant. We discovered two days before her departure that it did not meet the requirements because it did not have ventilation on three sides.

I bought a Sherpa for my little 10 lb dog. It worked great! I also used it to transport 2 kittens.

Regarding the Sherpa bags, I would caution anyone using one not to leave the animal unattended. I had a 4-pound Yorkie that chewed through a Sherpa bag in less than an hour. Sherpa would not replace the bag; they only offered to send me a piece of netting to repair the hole. Maybe they are making them better these days.

That's a bummer. I hope your little pupper was OK. I would venture to say that a soft sided carrier may not be the best choice for a chewer or a dog that is overly anxious and panics. Sherpa specifically says that they don't warranty against damage done by pets.

I really like mine because it folds up into a rectangle just a few inches thick. I flew Frontier to pick up my kittens in Colorado and I was able to fit the carrier in my backpack as my free personal free carry on. I paid on Southwest to come back with it full of kittens.
