Making a long awaited return to Hawaii 14 years after learning my wife was pregnant with our first child (insert surprised/confused face in a Maui hotel room July 2000). Staying on Maui then Aulani afterwards. Any recommendations on snorkeling for a family of two adults and 13,10 and 7 year old kids. Very wide range of athletic ability here. Either island and we have rental car. Thanks

We are doing both those places in August. I was told a snorkeling trip in Maui would be better. Got a lot of recommendations but heard the most recs/good things about Trilogy.

Someone did a trip at the Ko'olina marina right near Aulani that they really like. Maybe search this section of the board for snorkeling Aulani and see if it pops up??

There is a great snorkeling cove just beyond Aulani over towards the Paradise Cove Luau beach, if you walk past the Marriot next door to Aulani you will see a sign that says you are leaving the property. Keep along that beach (often there will be a seal out sunning himself) and you will come to the cove area.
Here is a great map of how to get there from a really informative Aulani trip report written by JeffR :http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=51170300&postcount=18" target="_blank

There is also another spot nearby Aulani called Kahe point, we never went there but it is highly recommended, check it out on this website: http://www.hawaiisnorkelingguide.com/oahu_snorkeling.html

Also Hanauma Bay is a great place to visit on Oahu down near Diamond Head. Great snorkeling there but get there early. http://www.hanaumabay.info/

On Maui there are some good spots north of Kaanapali Beach and Black Rock. http://www.hawaiisnorkelingguide.com/maui_snorkeling.html

Hope that helps :thumbsup2
