Excursion Questions - Jamaica and Mexico

We've booked the Adventure Falls and River Tubing excursion in Jamaica next week, is it worthwhile to do? Also, how is the drive to get there? My family tends to get car sick and twisty mountain roads will not be good. What are your thoughts on the All-Inclusive Isla Pasión by Power Catamaran in Mexico? We've never left the ship while in port in Mexico or Jamaica since the kids were young but now they are 9 & 12 so wanted to do something different. We're sailing on the Treasure and figured there would be a lot to explore just on the ship so not sure about excursions.

Just in general, the excursions in Jamaica are a minimum on 60 minutes away from the port. Many are 90 minutes. So on a 5-6 hr excursion you are spending half that time on the bus. I personally think that Jamaica is a waste of a stop. There is nothing in the port area except the same chain stores that are in every port and a bunch of junk t-shirt shops. Going out past the port gates on your own is considered unsafe.

I’ve been concerned about Jamaica also. We have booked the Hampden Estate Rum Tour and wondering if we should cancel it and just stay onboard. We are keeping an eye on the risk level. Right now it is a level 2 out of 4.(4 being the greatest risk)
Any reports on that tour?

As long as you are on a formal excursion you are safe.

There was once a case where a cruise ship sponsored Segway tour was robbed at gunpoint: "Please roll forward and hand me your valuables!"

I would stick with a tour booked through DCL in Jamaica. They walk you to transportation within the gated (secure) port area and return you back. We didn’t have any issues but stuck to our tour group. Cozumel felt much safer to me. If you question safety, stay on the boat or book directly through the cruise line. I think most incidents involve people wondering about on their own a taking a wrong turn.
