I keep seeing an ad online that using Frankincense essential oil works for joint pain/inflamation. I would like to hear from the people who ACTUALLY use this stuff (and NOT just from those who sell it).

1---does it really help with the pain
2---how long after using it did you see a difference
3---do you use it every day

any other info you can give me would be great. thanks

Never used them but looked at a few random ones on Amazon. All say something similar. In the US, FDA requires any product to have this disclaimer which says they have no actual proof or medically valid clinical trials to prove it actually does what they claim. They can IMPLY it does various things, but they can't actually CLAIM it does. You will notice a similar disclaimer on TV ads for any number of health related products.

I can’t speak to essential oils. I can tell you that if you’re looking for something for joint pain or inflammation, my dad started taking turmeric as suggested by his doctor. He was very skeptical and so he was shocked when it helped his knees.

Recent thread , many mentioned using AleveX pain relieving lotion Max Strength with the pain relieving roller balls purchased over the counter at Target, etc.
I would trust this type of response and there was only one on the shelf!…Must be good !
Has anybody had problems ordering merchandise online and they automatically renew the order or it is impossible to get anybody to respond to cancel.?
I avoid this scam always now!

Essential oils sometimes smell nice. That's where it ends as far as health benefits. Although there are some studies on certain oils such as peppermint that do support pain relief upon inhalation, specifically for headaches. Anecdotally, sniffing peppermint oil and eating peppermints like Altoids during a migraine attack do help me feel better. Could be placebo effect though.

I had a friend who was sold on acai berries. She ordered some pills online. It was a scam and they kept charging her card over and over.

I have never tried Frankincense oil,, but I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and I have tried Idaho Balsam Fir oil. I put it on my hands and cover with gloves for a while. It does help with the pain at the time, but nothing is going to stop that type of pain that I have. It does give me relief for a while, though.

Some do work, some don't. Depends on what you are using them for and application.
There are scientific papers where peppermint oil, for example, is proven in mosquito control, as well as treatment of migraine, IBS

That's right, peppermint oil is the main ingredient in IB Gard, which is an IBS antispasmotic treatment. This is actually INGESTED though, and I believe in general, you should not ingest essential oils. These capsules are formulated in a way where you can safely ingest them and they won't dissolve in your stomach acid and cause terrible indigestion (which is what would happen if you just took peppermint oil directly).

I have a pinched nerve in my neck that can cause quite a lot of arm pain occasionally. I have used peppermint oil or one of the mentholated rubs (Tiger Balm, for example) and it does seem to help somewhat. I think the "stimulant" affect from the mints and camphors increases blood flow to the surface helps relieve the tension a bit. It's soothing, even if it doesn't really stop the pain that much.

I used to put frankincense essential oil on my face at night before bed. I love the smell of it! since we moved I can't find it though:(

I don't think it had magical properties, but I do think the scent helped me fall asleep.
