Hi! DD is almost 10 and she will be going on her 6th DCL cruise in 10 days:) She told me yesterday that she is excited about the cruise, but she didn't really have fun playing "baby games" in the kids club last June. I read of 10 year olds being allowed in the Edge. Does anyone know of anyone as young as 9 being able to go? I realize that she may get not even enjoy the Edge and this may be an in-between age for her (apparently hanging out with mom and dad isn't cool any more), but it would be nice if she had the option to try them both out, especially since we'll be on a 7 night...

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

They're pretty strict about the rules. I'm going to say with your doughtier not even being close to 11 that they will not let her in. Even if you emphasize her maturity or things like that they're not going to let her into Edge not only because it might be unfair to other passengers but because of security and protocol reasons. Sorry, but I'm pretty sure your daughter is going to have to wait a year for Edge.

our daughter turned 10 in June we went on an Alaskan cruise in Aug, it was her 4th she was bored in the lab, they let her move to the edge no problem, but 9 might be pushing it to much

I'll just put it out there that allowing 10 year olds in Edge is based on whether there is space available. If the complement of 11-14 years olds onboard fill all the space in Edge, a 10 year old may not "age up".

I also agree that, at 9, it's pushing it a bit. I've read where older kids (the ones who are the "right" age) can be somewhat cutting and unreceptive to "babies" in their space.

Thanks for all of the replies. I assumed that she would not be allowed, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone has had experience with this issue. I wish DD has told me prior to our PIF date and I most likely would have moved the date farther out. I'm hoping that she'll meet some kids and have a great time in the kids' club, making this a non-issue:)

If anyone does have experience with this (positive or negative) I'd love to hear it.

My son turned 10 the second day of the cruise and they would not let him in until his birthday. The cmcalled guest services to verify that he was turning 10 and then they let me sign the waivor. They do have open house everyday that your 9 year old could try or you could push the cruise back a few weeks so she'll be 10. The cms have told me there are very few cruises 10 year olds are not allowed. It's usually just a couple a year.

We have been on cruises where they didn't let 10 yos into the Edge or 13 yos into the Vibe because of the numbers on those cruises. I have never heard of 9 yos being allowed into the Edge.
