Does modifying to same reservation inside 7 months change from 11 month to 7?

Would love to swap out unused points from another contract into a reservation made with another. Problem is different home resorts and the reservation was made at the 11 month mark. Non switchable unless it's the same home resort. But if I modified the reservation now to the exact same res would it then turn it into a 7 month reservation in the computer's eye thereby allowing me to now swap points?

I figured it wouldn’t be as easy as that but thank you for confirming. Would love to have swapped out with other contract points but alas it’s not meant to be.

Yeah. If you think about it, if it didn’t work that way then you could get a small number of points at Grand Cal or Poly a lot of points at SSR and then just constantly swap out the home resort 11m for SSR at 7m….

When you book a reservation during home resort period, the contract will remain locked when you modify it…so it prevents you from swapping.

Now, what you can do is keep an eye out for nights at the beginning or end of your trip and try to book them with the other points and drop the one you booked during home resort.

DVC can then merge them later. I do this a lot with my SSR points!

That's a great idea thank you but this particular reservation is AKV Club level...no chance for that! lol

Us a WL for your first or last day. I have been successful that way too!

I have gotten CL for one night by stalking so nothing lost with a waitlist! Just set to cancel 31 days out or be sure to cancel it if you use the other points for a different trip.

So if I was able to snag a CL the day before I could then merge and replace the whole set of points? And the drop that first day again? And it would work the same at the end of the stay?
