I started working for LiveOps about 2 weeks ago and so far things seem to be going fairly well. I was looking for a way to bring in extra money to save for vacations and fun stuff but I wanted to be able to do it from home so this seemed like the perfect solution.

Anyway, I was wondering if any one on the Dis worked for them as well and if they did what do you think about them? How long have you been with them? And, would you be interested in sharing your AOL IM name so that we can chat while taking those calls :teeth: ?

Hi-

I recently dropped down from full time to part-time and was looking for a way to boost our vacation savings by working at home. I tried LiveOps but they do not service New York, where I live. I recently joined WEST, which is along the same lines - answering phone calls for cash. I am in the process of doing the online training. Hope this works out, as it would be nice to make some extra cash while being able to stay at home with the kids :cool1: Hope you have a good experience with LiveOps - everything I have heard about them is positive, which is why I tried them first.

Subscribing to this thread ... I'm thinking about doing something like this to bring in some extra money! I worked both on the phones and in call center management for years...

Couple questions -

Do you set your hours?

Is the pay by the hour or by your talk time?

What type of calls do you take? Sales calls or more customer service oriented?

Is there a bonus schedule?

Ok - more than a couple questions.. :goodvibes

This sounds very cool. I would love to hear more details about this :)

You should check out workplacelikehome.com and you will see all kinds of legitimate jobs from home including liveops and west at home. I have been working with West for more than a year. Post any questions you have over there and you will get all the info you need to get started. Everyone on that board is great. I currently take calls for a major shop at home network, but they have many other projects too.

Here is the website to LiveOps

We are taking sales calls but some (very few) are customer service oriented. You know the infomercials on t.v. as well as the, "Call now for your free Information Guide to Vacations in North Carolina"? Those are the calls we take.

You do set your own hours. You do not have to commit to working any hours however it is to your benefit if you do because if you commit to a time slot and show up for your schedule more calls will be generated to you. They forecast what shows will be running and about how many calls they will be receiving (all the technical stuff) and then they put out a schedule and you pick the times that you would like to commit to and they are in 30 minute increments. They are a 24/7 operation as these infomercials are on all the time. So, if you're a night time person taking some shifts in the early A.M. would be good for you. If your kids are in school or at nap time then maybe the afternoon would be good for you. Weekends are their heaviest call volume, as you can imagine.

You are paid by the minute and that is $0.25 a minute which may not be alot but if you committed to work for 60 minutes and took calls back to back and talked all 60 minutes then you would make $15.00 an hour. Add to that bonuses that you can make. I figure even if I only talk 40 minutes in the hour that's still $10 an hour. I kind of figure if I can make even $6.50 an hour (which is a bit more than min. wage) then I personally am ok w/ the time I've put in it because it is only for extra money, I'm not leaving my house, I don't have to put gas in the car, I don't have to buy new clothes (most times I do it in my nightgown and robe) and it isn't hard work. But I have been making more than $6.50 an hour. :) That was just a figure I came up with.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions.

I was hoping that some of my fellow disers worked for them and that we could chat in between calls as (if you work from home on the phone) sometimes it's nice to feel connected to other people doing the same thing and even better would be if you had something (like our LOVE of Disney) in common. I'm down to 13 days until our next trip and I think it'd be wonderful if we could talk about all this wonderful stuff in between calls.

Yes, workplacelikehome.com and www.wahm.com is where I found out about LiveOps in the first place. They are great sites and very informative.

Do they only hire in certain states? If so how do you find out which states they are hiring in?
Thanks,

Thank y'all for the tips - and ForTheLoveofDisney the very detailed info on LiveOps.

I've been REALLY thinking about this - trying to figure logistics, etc.

I LIKE the idea of the late night hours - I wonder if they have a good volume then?

I homeschool my 16 yo son - and have 3 dogs - am thinking if I do this will need to move the 'puter to my room so I can close it off..

I did calls for YEARS - mostly airline and travel ... have been looking to see if any airlines have started contracting out for work at home. For years in the business we knew things were moving that way... that technology would make it possible.

Even 6.50 is NOT that bad for the type of work IMHO... especially since you can do it in your jammies! And shoot I'm on the computer 1/2 the day anyway.... :rotfl2:

snipped. . .

I don't know how the late night's are. I haven't worked them yet. I mostly do the weekends because the call volume is way higher and DH works most Saturdays anyway. I would assume that late nights would have a good amount of call volume as infomercials seem to be the only things on in the late night. Call volume in the afternoon is pretty good.

The $6.50 figure is, like I said, the number I came up with because like you say I'm on the computer 1/2 the day anyway (ssshhh, I'm working right now) so why not get paid to take some calls. But the good news is, I'm averaging like $8-$10 an hour. Last Sunday, I AM NOT LYING, I made $19.66 in one hour!!!! That's 60 minutes of straight talk time plus bonuses!!! I was so excited I was doing the happy dance after those calls. Now, $19.66 is BY NO MEANS the norm but it can happen. On Monday I worked for 6 hours and I made around $58.00. Not to shabby.

Anyway, I AM NOT a recruiter or anything. I don't get any bonuses or any referral things if you work for them. I'm just lady who works from home looking for ways to connect w/ other people at home. You know in an office you could at least talk to others around you or in the next cubicle or on break. When you work at home, it's just you  .

Oh I know what you mean... the extent of my conversations with others around here are with my 16 year old son - and his buddies... frankly discussions about "Battlefield" and "Halo" are not too intellectually stimulating for me..

Well I'm certainly looking into it! Sounds like something I could do and enjoy!

HI There.
I'm checking out LiveOpsand see they require a 'dedicated phone line.' Does this mean a separate phone line from my regular home line? Or will that line work?
Thanks! (and thanks for this thread, too)

Hi all! Just wanted to subscribe to this thread. I too am a SAHM and would love to make some extra money without leaving home. Thanks for posting.

It is a seperate phone line from your regular home phone and that is because you can not have any features on the line. The phone line has to be free of call waiting, caller ID, call forwarding, or voicemail. It can have nothing on it because that would interefere with the calls that are routed to your phone. For instance, if you were on the phone taking a call and you had call waiting or even voice mail another call could be routed to your line and go into your voice mail or cause your call waiting to go off. It would just be bad. Also, you won't want your friends, family, doctors, schools or Political Party (just through that one in there :rotfl: ) calling your work phone while you are working.
I had a dedicated phone number installed just for this. It is only for incoming calls which means if I call out on my phone I will be charged for each outgoing call. It is a basic incoming phone line and I pay around $16 something a month +tax so I'll say around $20 a month for this phone line. I make more than enough to cover the cost of the line and it is a tax write off as a business expense.
Hope This Helps.

Could you give us a generic run down of a typical phone call? Do you ever have to deal with an irrate person? Thanks for all the info!

Nancy :wave2:

Although I already work a full-time job, I find myself with lots of down time. I would like some more info from anyone...... Forthelove of disney?

Thank you

I'm late to the party, (been away from the boards for a while), but I wanted to post that I've been working LiveOps steadily for the last two years. I was with them when they first started, but, left to do other things, because there wasn't much call volume. I should have gone back earlier.

Anyway, someone was asking about late nights. That's what I work part-time: Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon. They are the best times to get calls, other than during the day on Sat & Sunday. I work the infomercial line. Calls are scripted and you do deal with cranky people occasionally. But, I love my work schedule.

I just spent the last weekend finishing up making the money we will need to book our cruise. I don't know of any other job that is that flexible and requires, no gas, special clothes, lunches out etc.

If you are thinking about it, don't hesitate to try it out.

Hi, April!! I've also been working for LiveOps for the last year. I love it!! I work mostly late night-early morning hours. I try to do most of them on Friday, Saturday and Sunday because that's when it's busiest. To give others an idea, I average about $10-$13 hour before the incentives. My goal is to make $50/night for each of those three days. I find I can usually do it in 4 to 4 1/2 hours. I sometimes pick up some hours during the week, but it's hard to work that late and still function the next day!!:)

This has worked out perfectly for me because it's allowed me to make extra money while doing it around my children. You commit to 30 minute slots and you have until 30 minutes prior to a shift to drop it if needed. This is a wonderful thing when you are dealing with unpredictable small children!:)

I would really recommend it to anyone looking to make some extra money from home!

I now work outside my home but worked for liveops for a couple years. It is definately legit, I averaged $10 an hour, less part of the year, more the months before Christmas.

You will basically be taking calls for tons of different infomercials. Your phone rings you pick it up and a script pops up. It is mandatory that you do upsales. I didn't like this but it was part of the job. Yes you do occasionally get irate callers. For example, they want to return the product and the number for returns isn't being answered.

I worked a line that was not selling for a while. I really liked it but the money wasn't as good.
