Do You Have Comfort Films?

The list is so long, but just a few…
The original Star Wars trilogy, the first 3 Indiana Jones movies, Caddyshack, The Blues Brothers, Stripes, Ratatouille, Toy Story, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, Duck Soup, It’s a Wonderful Life and so many other Christmas movies.
Sorry, but, good grief, the list is a long one…!!!!! 😅

With my wife, it’s any romantic comedy. Notting Hill, anyone?

For me, I think the comfort is more about diving into a franchise, whether it’s Potter, Indiana, Alien, Die Hard or the MCU (the list goes on).

Something about knowing my next 5-25+ movies are all in the same fictional world is very comforting.

A lot of mine have already been said: Princess Bride, Spirited Away/Howl's Moving Castle, Chocolat.

Some adds:
Practical Magic (especially in fall). It's surprisingly stood the test of time, whereas many other romcoms I've tried to rewatch have some serious cringe.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day: Francis McDormand and Amy Adams are so charming in this period piece. If you like period romance and jazz music you'll love it.

Singin in the Rain: One of my all time favorites. The singing and dancing is lovely and really a bright and colorful movie.

The Greatest Showman: The music isn't what I'd call classic (it's more of a pop sound) but I'm a big fan of magical journeys. Hugh Jackman, Zendaya and Zac Efron are all music pros and have amazing chemistry.

Wonka: Newer one that joined the rotation. It can't replace Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory's nostalgia factor, but the cast is phenomenal. I wish it has a little less CGI but the songs are really Broadway quality to me in the sense of adding to the storytelling.

My comfort movies are Steel magnolias, hallmark movies (love the Aurora Teagarden series and any Xmas one at Xmas time), Harry Potter movies (earlier ones are best), Babe (the one with the talking pig) and the Sandlot. My comfort tv series are Golden Girls, the Middle, and Everybody Loves Raymond, Everwood and Gilmore Girls

Harry Potter, Hunger Games, sometimes Twilight and Practical Magic depending on the mood (like another poster mentioned weather can be a reason), Twister, Pride and Prejudice (Kiera Knightley one), The Santa Clause.

I'm not sure if I would call it a comfort film but depending on which ones are on tv I'll watch Fast and Furious films. I enjoy them but have my favs.

Growing up I also used to watch a lot Footloose and Dirty Dancing
