Do those skinny lanyards hold pins?

I have one of those thick nylon lanyards purchased from Disney on-line last year. I can't find one this year & when I check office supply websites they only show skinny ones. Can you put pins on these skinny ones? Last year we traded 16 pins, 8 on either side of the lanyard. I feel like these heavy pins will just shred the material on these skinny lanyards. Anyone with recommendations, please help. Or let me know where to buy the thick nylon ones!
Thanks so much!

i bought one of these skinny lanyards thinking they were heavier, see whatonline shopping get ya! I am thinking about reenforsing it with some heavy fabric like seat belt stuff. While I say Im thinking about it, understand that that means I have a great idea that I won't do and i will buy the "official" pin trading kits when I get there! LOL

I am not a huge pin trader...wait, I am a "huge" pin trader(even though I've lost 70 lbs.)...but I don't have a lot of pins and I've found thatthe smaller lanyards hurt my neck when I have just a few pins on. I now wear a Mickey hat with my prized pins attached to it and a large lanyard with my tradeables.

Great question Erin...I am also looking for something that is heavier weight/thicker for pins. Most of what I have are the standard small size lapel pins but the last sale on the internet I bought a bunch and was surprised that they are a much larger size so I need a fat lanyard to hold them.

I am keeping my eyes open for something that might work. If I run across anything I will be happy to let you know.

I have a skinny corded lanyard (didn't realize it was like that when I ordered it) with pins on it but it's in my van hanging from the rear-view mirror. It works for that application but if I was going to use a lanyard for pin-trading purposes in the parks (i.e. wearing it) I would want the heavier and wider kind. The pins stay on better, since there's just more to grab.

All those kits are like $45 dollars but let me let you in on a something i found out near the end of my trip at the rainforest cafe in dtd they have one w/a 2 frog pins and another one for $15 dollars so if you want a cheaper one w/a few pins that is the place to go

I usually put a few trader pins on my Disney bottle strap. All the other traders are in a ziplock in my backpack. I've lost pins before so I feel safer with them in my backpack.

I bought some of those HUGE pins, too. I have no intention of trying to wear them on a lanyard, but I'll carry them in my wheelchair bag for trading. BTW, I've read a number of posts by people who lost some of those over-sized pins because they fell off. Some of them even have two posts and gripper things on the back, but I guess the extra weight is just too much.

Old Navy and Reebok usually sale the wide lanyards. I know Reebok sales them for about 3.99 each. The come in red, pink, 2 colors of blue, black, and Lime green.

Definitely use only the wider thicker lanyards. And even then be watchful that one doesn't fall off. DH lost a favorite on our last trip. :sad2: I think I saw somewhere on allearsnet a hint about stuffing the back with some tissue paper or something to keep them from falling off. Can't remember for sure where I saw it at. We've found that the rubber mickey ear pin backs they have in the parks are better than the regular metal backs, just in case you happen to trade for some that have these kind of backings.

I purchased a fanny pack with a pin bag on the front of it off of ebay from flameochist last year. My whole family made fun of me :rotfl: :rotfl2: because it was so big, but it holds everything. :cool1: The pin part in the front is great and you don't have to worry about losing any pins or carrying a pin bag. It is small but has 3 or 4 double sided pockets for the pins.
