Do Characters Sign Birthday Cards?

I will be at WDW during my sisters birthday and thought it would be fun to send her a birthday card signed by a character (preferrably Remy from Ratatouille if he is available, otherwise Minnie Mouse).

Would characters do that? I was thinking it is not much different from an autograph, so this should hopefully be possible.

But then: Do you think I will be able to find a nice birthday card at the parks? Getting a Ratatouille card might be quite difficult? Should I try to get/make a card before I get there? Would characters sign a card I printed myself with some pictures I downloaded (got a nice background from the Disney website)?

Thanks for any help!

Yes! My cousin got married this past eyar and she was honeymooning at Disney. I bought a cute bridal shower card at Walgreens that had Cinderella and Prince Charming on the front. I had all the princesses I could find sign it - her favorite, Snow White, even kissed it with her red lips. :) I bought her the bride and groom Mickey ears and wrapped the present from the princesses. :)

I don't see why they wouldn't sign a card for you. You might want to have something sturdy behind it so they can hold it and write on it easier. I think I would buy or make a card that was blank inside and then let them sign it and then write inside it only because sometimes they have a hard time seeing where they are writing and they may sign over what you have written. Also if you are doing a character meal it is easier to get things like this autographed then, I took a couple of blank photo mats and had the characters sign those. I really like the card idea and I might try it next time. :)

If you go to a character meal and let them know there is a b-day, they will present you with a card signed by all the characters at that meal.

As far as finding a card in WDW - we had no luck. DD wanted to buy one for her friend and get it signed but all we could find were postcards and those wouldn't work. I suggest getting it outside of WDW property unless someone else knows where you can find one on property.

I didn't know that about them giving you a b-day card at the meal. Thanks for the tip :goodvibes

I agree about not being able to find a card in the park. :sad2: All I could find were postcards. I know our local grocery store and Walmart carry cards with Disney characters on them.

We celebrated my DW's birthday this past Sunday. When we checked in I went to the conceirge (sp?) at the hotel and they made a button for her to wear and also had a card sent to our room with a picture of Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet in front of the castle and it was already signed by all of them. (the CM asked what her favorite character was).

When we were at Crystal Palace there was a couple there and one of them was celebrating a birthday. They had Tigger bring over a cake and a card for them and also took a picture. I thought that was pretty cool.

Any of the resturaunts will add a candle to your dessert or you can buy a cake. If you set it up early enough they can have a card for you anywhere I would guess (ie: resturaunts and hotels).

Thanks for all the answers! My sister will not be in WDW with me, so unfortunately I cannot arrange for a card being presented at the character meal (but it sounds like a great thing to do!!)

And good to know that getting a card there will be a problem! So I will have to get one before, I am just afraid that getting a nice Disney card here in Germany will be quite difficult: Any opinions on whether they would sign one I made myself using Disney pictures??

They'll sign whatever card you want them to, whether or not you made it yourself. Like another poster said, you may want to have something sturdy to hold behind it while they sign to make it easier for them. Consider bringing a pen or marker that is wider than usual as these are a lot easier for them to hold.

I've seen characters signing hats for people as well. So as long as you have the right pen, it seems they are willing to sign whatever they can. When I was there my friend bought a princess poster for her niece and we took it to Toontown and had all the princesses sign it. Good luck!

A sharpie marker works great and they have the ones that you just click so you don't have to fumble with the cap :)

We celebrated our anniversary at WDW last year.

When we checked in, she asked if it was a special ocassion and we told her it was our anniversary.

After coming back from the parks one day, in our room was an anniversary card signed by Mickey and Minnie and a balloon.

It was a great surprise.

If you can't find Remy you might take the card to City Hall...I've read on here that people have left autograph books to be signed and come back later to pick it up.

I always wondered about why people were doing this as the photo of the kids asking/getting the autograph from the character has more value to me than the signature itself, but in your case it would work perfect. You should be able to get the signature of the character you want even if you can't find him out and about.

Best place to find Remy now a days is at MGM in the animation pavilion. They have a special area for meet and greet for the Ratatoullie characters. Minnie is all over the place. They will sign most anything (we saw people with hats, tshirts etc.)

Thanks for all the tips! I am not sure I will be able to find a Sharpie pen here in Germany, but I think it is a permanent marker, isn't it?

And thanks a lot for the tip with City Hall! I have never done autographs before because I always thought pictures are much more fun and I would still love to get a picture of Remy in person, but if it does not work out, this might be a great alternative!

What a cool idea! :thumbsup2 That would be an awesome souvenier...putting the photo of, say, DD with Mickey - in a photo mat signed by Mickey...I'd never have thought of it, but I'm thinking of doing it for our upcoming trip. Thanks!
