Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Sorry but I couldn’t find this info after reading the FAQ in this thread - probably missed it somehow: On which floor are the BC Club Level rooms? Booked one for next month after learning YC CL is under renovation. I’m hoping they’re not on the first floor. Thanks for any help.

The Dolphin resort is a short walk from the BC and on its lower level the Picabu restuarant is open 24 hours. Hower, between 1 AM and 6:30 AM only pre-packaged grab and go food is available.

Old I know but I caught up on this thread today (Sept BC possibly happening, had to catch up!) and we just found out on the Swolphin thread Picabu is permanently closed.

Has anyone stayed at POFQ before? Is it a huge disappointment after YC/BC? Yacht and Beach is definitely our home - we stay here every trip (did a split with GF last trip because it was my oldest's dream and while we enjoyed it, we couldn't wait to get over to Beach). My daughter has her dance nationals in Orlando this summer (June 27-July 2). When I found that out, I immediately convinced my husband to add on Disney time at the end (July 3-6). We decided to stay on property the entire time for a little extra magic. We did look at and consider Yacht or Beach, but given that we will not be at the resort a ton during the nationals portion (but still hoping for some poool time) we decided to go for a moderate. We chose FQ due to the room renos and the small layout. I'm excited to try a new resort, and as a bonus trip, I'm just happy for Disney time, but want to manage my family's expectations!
POFQ was a disappointment to me but I’m in the minority. It has since been refurbed and the refurb looks beautiful. My issues with it however were the noise levels, the window AC and the cost. I could have paid less at Pop and been happier because everything I hear noise wise there I’m like “but it’s worth the $$ I saved”. At POFQ I thought “I could have saved $$ and heard this at Pop and then taken the Skyliner to Epcot to spend the money I saved”. Hopefully for you the space will make it better. The beds are raised now, they did the lovely long countertop, both features will help space wise if you have a crew. Go dig up photos of the remodeled rooms if you haven’t seen them already, seriously, they did a nice job. Proper outlets where they were completely replaced with ones that have space to plug into USB or plugs instead of shoving USB outlets into the old sized outlets so you have to pick USB or plug to use (looking at you BWI). People really like the boat to DS but we hated it, took forever it felt like and dropped us at the side away from what we were after and we had to clear security. We switched to the bus and it was better- fast and empty and accessed DS via the Center.

…any intel on why BC got a softgoods remodel instead of hardgoods remodel? Certainly it was due for hardgoods since all the other Deluxes had them? I had just assumed Disney cheapened out and did a crappy job of the hardgoods remodel (see: old school shower head) but things are making more sense in my head after reading your comments on it being soft-goods.

ETA- removed wrong tag

Beach Club went through it's last hard goods refurb 2014/2015. It was due for soft goods on the ~7 year rotation.

Yacht Club received it's hard goods refurb 2016/2017 which is why it's up for soft goods next.

Ahh! Thanks (And sorry for tagging the wrong person. Dave is the Fountain of knowledge of the Swolphin thread, I’m getting mixed up bouncing around 🤣)

There is quite a bit of confusion on what is meant by a "Soft Goods" refurb,"Hard Goods", and finally a" to the studs". The BC actually had it's last Hard Goods refurb in August 2023. So it is simply not due for a to the studs refurb.

Theses are the basics but each resort can chose to upgrade / replace specific items during each phase.

Soft Goods - all "Soft" items are replaced like mattress, bedding, window coverings, and used to include carpeting.

Hard Goods - Furniture, TV, and technology (currently USB type items). This includes the modular closest technology, conversion to shower doors for tubs / showers.

To the Studs - often involves actually stripping each room down to the studs, allowing for electrical work, room and bath reconfiguration (Plumbing, fixtures).

Took a stroll over to the Yacht and Beach club to check out the pool work. Surprised to see water in the pool still but they're doing a lot of work on the deck. Fingers crossed they'll add more cabanas with all this work!

While we miss being at the YC this trip I'm glad we opted to move to the BWI, we've done enough trips with construction noise and the jackhammering at the pool was pretty loud while we were there.

I just got upgraded (free) to Yacht club for our late February trip from POFQ. I originally got it as a bounce back offer of $250 a night so I am super happy. It’s just me and DH, 4 night stay so the pool is no big deal to me. I am happy with the quiet pool/hot tub!!! I have NEVER been pixie dusted before.

I am going to be blunt in my response. As long as you are OK with lots noise during the day. Why do you think it was such a great deal.

They may not know about renovations currently going on.
Or they may be ok with some possible noise because they like the resort and location.

That is a very good upgrade, even if SAB is closed. I really like the Admiral pool, the quiet pool at YC. It is my favorite quiet pool at YC/BC. :)

I would have taken the upgrade, too. Nothing beats being able to walk into two parks. :)

I’d be thrilled too! (Rumor is POFQ is behind on renovations, probably paired nicely with YC which must be seeing light bookings between SAB & it’s own renovations.)

Although if the weather is decent that quiet pool is going to be a straight up nuthouse so I wouldn’t go day dreaming about lounging at a pool this trip 😉

Absolutely! Despite the name, the quiet pool can be busy on any given day when SAB is open. It will be interesting to read reports from spring break & Easter. I think a lot of people who are saying “I’m fine with the quiet pool” are going to be not so fine when they see how crowded they are.
