Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

With that said POFQ is imo the better resort by far
Yes, I agree with this, but I don't drink, so I cannot comment on a pool bar. Or even on a pool, since I rarely use it, no matter what resort I'm staying at. Especially not when it's 45 degrees out.

Better pool bar at Riverside
I respectfully disagree. Love Mardi Grogs.
Also, there's only one pool at FQ. POR has at least one "quiet" pool (I've walked by it--maybe there are more) as well as the large pool.
I think the main pools are similar except for theming. Both are very large and spread out. Short water slides. Small hot tubs. Better kids area at FQ, but that won't matter to you.

Short water slides.

The POR slide is about twice as long as the FQ one, but neither of them are "water-park level" slides. There are also another five quiet pools dotted around Riverside, which are very relaxing.

The pool bars have identical menus, so which one is better is purely down to the bar tender on duty at the time. <Waves to Shelly at Mardi Grogs!>

Would the French quarter pool or the riverside pool be better for 2 adults? Who want some relaxation

The main pools particularly. We are use to AKL pool so this will be an adjustment lol
I prefer the quiet pools at POR for relaxation, particularly the ones in AB. But I doubt I would walk from FQ to use one. Just considering the main pools, I don’t think there is a real difference relaxation wise.

Coming down for Marathon Weekend and currently have the last night of my trip at Pop, but since I have never stayed at PO-FQ, thought I might switch. Rooms available are King, Water, Pool views. I would prefer an updated room, and can't entirely figure out what the odds are of getting one based on the rooms available.

Any of you PO-FQ experts care to weigh in with a suggestion? Thanks.

The updated rooms are finished in Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4. They are currently redoing Buildings 6 and 7. The last building is Building 5 which has not been touched but it is still open with non-updated rooms. Pool view rooms are in Buildings 2 and 5, so you have a 50/50 with that one. River View would be Buildings 1,2,5,6,7. You would have a good chance with getting either 1 or 2 since they are re-doing 5 and 7. King bed rooms are corner rooms in each building. If you push the button on PO-FQ, I would put a notation in your check-in for and updated room. Best of luck on your room choice and your race.

This may seem like an odd question but my DH is an avid bass fisherman. Is there anywhere at POFQ where he would be allowed to cast a fishing pole? (His own pole, Artificial bait and catch and release of course) we are going the end of February and it will still be cold here in Ohio

No. POR has a fishing area near the main pool. Not sure if you can bring your own, I think it may just be a bamboo pole you rent from Disney. You can do a fishing charter on Bay Lake area, but you can't fish off a pontoon rental. And I do believe FW has a specific area where catch and release is allowed.

I have seen folks fishing with their own gear over the years … never watched long enough to see if they were told to stop or not

Thank you for the replies. We stay at FW sometimes and he fishes there in the canals and my son fished at Wilderness lodge. Might take it along. We will see
