We are going in January and I am not too concerned. Even *if* there is work going on at Sassagoula's, they will still be serving food. It might be through mobile order like they have done at other resorts but food will be available.

Sassagoula’s is going to be renovated? Is this true?

We are planning a January trip and are wondering what the timeline for the food court closure is. Not sure if that should be a deal breaker. Will they still have beignets? We're considering other moderates but not sure how we feel about that. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!!

FWIW we were there the last time the food court has shut down for renovations . They used what is now the Scat Cat's lounge to serve food. Not as big a menu but we usually only do breakfast so it wasn't an issue.

I have seen nothing on this. I think it is just the Scat Cat's area that sells beignets.

according to the back-of- house front desk staff we spoke with (not just one
BTW at least 3 mentioned it) all of the main buildings are to be renovated once the rooms are completed. The chef I'm in contact with for our upcoming trip (that had to get postponed when covid finally caught up to us) is super happy that the timeline has slowed down because it was going to start during the holiday season and they were dreading the fallout.

ETA- until we see actual evidence of this happening it's still just rumors. But the concept of them using the Cafe for food pick up could explain that current shut down as they prepare

I just switched my March reservation from All Star Music to Port Orleans. This will be my first time staying at POFQ. Actually, my first time at any of the moderate resorts.
When I have a little more time I am going to go back and read some of the posts on this thread to get more information. Any suggestions for how far back I should go?

It has all the information that you would want. We have been to the PO resorts many times and would probably not go anywhere else (unless it was free). Have fun.

Work was probably delayed a bit by the hurricane. But not too long now though. Beignets are still available from the food court in the meantime anyway.

Buildings 1 and 2 are now open with new room designs, buildings 3 and 4 are in progress (3 will be next to open) and 5, 6 and 7 have not been started yet.

We've been trying to add a Friday and Saturday night to our December stay to no avail (6-8)... Keep hoping some of those refurbed rooms come into inventory soon!

Just a FYI I have been stalking the site for rooms to open up also and I was just able to book a pool view room for 12/7-12/9 and they had all categories available.

Someone on their FB page said that it's open again.

I just booked a room at POFQ for Jan. 12 thru Jan. 16. Nothing came up about renovations or closing of the food court. Usually is there is a major renovation going on like that, a notice in red pops up when you are making the reservation. I am assuming they will not close the food court during this time or else I would of been notified. We would not want to stay there and would switch if the food court was closed. Thanks for any advice.

There will still be room refurbishment work going on then, as that is now scheduled to end around mid-February. By mid-January I would have thought work on 3, 4 (and perhaps 5?) would be finished, and 6 and 7 would be in progress.

There are plans for some work on the main buildings too, but there are no specific details or dates as yet. It seems a bit odd if the FQ food court gets more work done before Riverside is updated (as FQ has been refreshed more recently) but that does seem to be the plan. Whenever they done work on the food court, they transfer its operations over to the Lounge area (which used to be a table-service restaurant back in the day).

Same went for the Royal Rooms at Riverside, they really needed updating before FQ was done again, but I think they are still trying to decide what's going to happen with those.

I received an email about a "special" upgrade, but when I looked at it, it was to upgrade to Boardwalk, Yacht Club, or Beach Club for the same price I could upgrade to those resorts for if I just went onto the website and booked them for my dates. There was no discount at all. Has anyone else gotten this? I wonder if POFQ is overbooked?

I wonder if some of the room rehab is running behind schedule and this is why.
