Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Anyone know when and why they stopped playing music around the pools? We always stay in the 80's section and loved the music. It was playing during our November 2023 stay but for our Sept/Oct 2024 stay it was gone.
I was there in early December and I’m pretty sure there was music by the computer pool. It was chilly, so it was just me and the lifeguards. Music wasn’t loud. I was just sitting in the sun; not in the pool.

Hey folks, we are currently at Pop, last night of our stay is tonight. Here are some current photos of Everything Pop renovations.

Food court is mostly complete other than the first station on the left as you enter.

The gift shop area is still not complete. I was chatting with a cast member and the current “estimated” completion time frame is 2 weeks.

I’m not a fan of the material used on the seat cushions for the booths. It grips onto your clothing which doesn’t allow you to slide out. Not sure if the previous booths were like that or not, but getting out from the inner portion can be a challenge.

Thanks for the pictures. We'll be there next week.

Just wondering if there were any days they closed the pools due to weather? I'll swim as long as there is no ice...

I would like to know too. We're contemplating the dining plan for a big multifamily trip, but with the refillable mugs it feels like a rip off
I don't think this is POP specific question, but the only 2 times I had a dining plan was at POP pre-COVID, and I'm going back to POP on the free dining promo this summer. I remember previously when getting a meal the CM let you get a snack instead of a drink since you could use your refillable mug for a drink. Are they still allowing this? I know they no longer allow using a QS credit for 3 snacks, so wasn't sure if this was restricted too.

The pools will definitely close due to cold weather. If the water park is closed, the resort pools are closed seems to be the rule of thumb.

I would anticipate Pop’s pools are closed today (Wed, Jan 22) as BB is also closed. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who is there today to see if this is true. It is currently 41° with a real feel of 32°. lol, you’re pretty close to their being ice. 😉

We were just there 7th-15th, very chilly! The pool was surprisingly still open, even despite the frosty weather. We would laugh walking past the 3 lifeguards patrolling an empty pool all day.

It was our first time at Pop Century (we usually stay deluxe) and we loved it. Location was great, vibes were great. Skyliner was obviously a big plus, and buses were super frequent. For the money, we will need to seriously consider bothering with deluxe at all next time given the value at Pop. Walls were a little thin - but otherwise an excellent stay.

Groovy!

Sounds like we have some new PopStars!

Curious question: what is the longest you have waited for your room at Pop to be ready after checking in?

I am checking into Pop today after staying 2 nights at AsMu.

I did online checkin with a room request through TP. I said that I would be arriving at 3pm. I arrived exactly at 3pm and was told that my room wasn’t ready yet, that it was still being cleaned.

That was over 2 hours ago and I am still waiting for my room assignment notification.

I checked at the hour mark with a cast member and they said it could take up 2 hours for a single room to be cleaned.

Has anyone else had such a long wait for a room to be cleaned?

Can't say I've waited that long, but if you had a very specific room request, then I suppose it's possible (not acceptable, but possible) My stay a couple weeks ago...my room was ready at 7:45 a.m.! But the only thing in the very limited list of options I during picked online check-in was to prioritize early room access.

We once waited a few hours (arrived around 4:30 and room wasn’t ready until 8:00) but, that was during the last set of major renovations
and I told them I was willing to wait for a renovated room.

I have waited an hour to 2 occasionally but normally less than 90 mins, if it isn’t already ready when we arrive.

Saturdays and Sundays are big turnover days so it can take longer to flip all the rooms.

Hope you’ve received your notification now.

this past December when we online checked Into pop and arrived around 11:30 am our room wasn’t ready, as it was being cleaned. we asked if a room had been assigned and the cast member said yes, but wouldn’t divulge the room number. All he would tell us was the building and the floor. I was hoping to know specifically what room in case we wanted a room change. Is this standard policy at wdw. Not a big deal but I really wanted to know! 😂

It is standard practice not to provide any details at all so you were much further ahead than has been my experience.

Not that you would have done this but, if they provided room number prior to the room being ready, some guests would go to the room and either start to move items in or, pressure the CM to hurry. Neither work to efficiently get the room ready.

It is standard practice at Pop not to provide any details until your room is ready to be occupied.

When I arrive, if my room is not ready, I go to the front desk and ask if there is possibly a room ready that I could move to? If there is, depending on the location (we normally stay 8-10 nights so for us, room location is our only priority) if we like the location I ask if we can please be assigned there? If we don’t care for the location, I wait to see what our yet to be divulged room is and hope it’s in a better location.

Thanks for the info! I would never have thought to go to the room early, but I can definitely see why Disney would have this policy. Great strategy! I’ll try it out in March 😁

It turned out to be some kind of a mechanical issue and the room they were preparing for me was taken out of service. To apologize for the inconvenience and for making me wait so long, they ended up moving me over to POR at no extra cost!

Glad it worked out for you in the end. The same thing happened to me once at a different resort. The room assigned to me was taken out of service, but they forgot to inform the front desk. By the time they figured it all out, there were no more rooms left.

Hope you are happy with the switch. They were offering a lot of people free moves over to POR during Marathon Weekend. Bookings over there must be soft.
