Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS RESORT Information & Questions

We are due to stay January 19-26, when we booked I thought we would be coming in on the tail end of cheer and dance and thought it’d be ok but now I’m reading there may still be some still taking place for our dates. I recently lost my mum and this was to be a time to just relax and escape reality for a bit, so we’re nervous about the possibility of noise and crowds during our stay. We are doing two After Hours events so will mostly be at the resort the other times. So a couple questions please, do we have reason to worry and is there a possibility we may receive an offer to switch resorts? I think I’ve read of that happening to others staying at All Stars during times of sports events. Thanks.

We are coming Jan 21-28, we are also planning on hitting the Hollywood Studios after hours. I too am shocked at how booked the resorts seem to be. I have lent way too much of my headspace to thinking about and searching other resort availability.

Ya me too. I think we’re just leaving things as they are and make the best of it if it turns out that there’s any issues. I just don’t have the energy to keep check for availability 😂

College Cheerleading and Dance Championship is January 17-19 so they will be there on your check-in day.

I would estimate 90 % of them will head home at some point on the 20th.

The other 10 % may stay for a day or 2 and tour with their families, but Cheerleaders will not be much of a "problem" after the 20th.

The other factor is The 15s(groups of South American girls celebrating being 15).

January/February and July are the big months for them.

The groups have been more and more each year Post Covid-no way to really know how many you may encounter next month.

I wouldn't worry too much about it,but IF you do find yourself in a situation not to your liking, don't hesitiate to go to the front desk, explain your situation and see if there is anything they can do for you.

I’m not sure what your budget is but I see rooms available at Port Orleans Riverside, which is much more laid back and quiet. You could even stay in the Alligator bayou rooms that seem more serene plus you have the added perk taking the boat to Disney Springs.
I’m sorry to her about the loss of your mom.

Nice suggestion.

I join in offering my condolences for your loss.

Thanks for this info, makes us feel a bit better. I think we’re going to leave things as they are and hope for the best. Like you said, we can always seek a solution from front desk if a problem arises.

Thank

Thank you for your condolences, it’s just been the worst thing to cope with. We’ve stayed at POR a few times and it is a lovely resort but i think we’ll just sit tight with our Sports reservation and see how things go. Ultimately even with the chance of disruption we’ll still be at Disney, it is truly our happy place, we’ll make the best of it. Thank you for the suggestion😃

nvr2old let me start out by saying I am sorry for your loss.
It is all about how your mind set is when you go to Sports and there are disruptions.
I always ask for rooms facing away from the resort on the back side since I find it to be much quieter.
Just depends if a view is your priority or not.

I hope you have a magical stay. 🩷

Thank you very much for your condolences. Very true on the mindset, we definitely go into things not expecting perfection so that absolutely helps. And we have put in a request for a quiet area with no preference as to where it is, other than that we would appreciate top floor to eliminate sounds from the floor above. We’re pretty easy going, it takes a lot for us to complain about anything. We also are finishing the last few days of our trip at AKL Kidani with a savanna view so even if we have some noise at AS Sports we will have that more peaceful location to look forward to. We just had read so many horror stories about dance/cheer and the 15’s that we were a bit panicked but we’re ok now, just really looking forward to some time away, we need it so badly.

I have 2 rooms booked and linked as traveling together. One for me & my husband and the other for my 3 teenagers. I called Disney regular phone number and asked if we can be together or at least in the same building and they said they can put in a request but there's no guarantee until we check in. Anyone have any advice on how to proceed to have the rooms together? Should I call All Star Sports direct phone number?

You've done everything you can for the best chance. One other thing I like to do is call the main reservation line about a week out and ask them to read off any requests on my reservation just to make sure it's there.

There is no number that will get you to the All Star resort. All numbers you can find on the internet will all route to the general call center.

Thanks, maybe I can send a fax? I remember doing that long ago for a Disney trip. Not sure they fax anymore lol but I see the number in the first post of this thread.

And if you arrive and don't have rooms close together, definitely go to the Front Desk immediately and explain your situation.

They will do everything they can to help you.

Nothing guaranteed but there should be a good chance they can at least get you in the same building if not connecting or adjoining.

No, Disney Resorts no longer accept faxes. Really, there's nothing else that will give you a better chance of having your rooms close to each other than what you've done. And just like @WEDWDW said, if when you arrive your rooms are not close head on down to the front desk and ask if anything can be done.

You're welcome.

Unfortunately it can happen-I think it is mainly when a Family somehow is given a room in the MIDDLE of Cheerleaders/15s.

That would definitely cause a direct trip to the front desk to ask for a room change.

And I have read sporadic reports of unhappy Families being moved to another Resort but I don't think it happens routinely.

January is a "secondary" month for 15s with July being "Ground Zero" so hopefully you will see very few groups,

And the Cheerleaders can actually be a little fun to watch practice.

I would suggest you call the reservation number again and verify that your 2 reservations are linked. Just ask the CM to read the notes about your reservation requests.

Once you get your room assignments or when you get to the All Star Sports resort, stop by the Front desk to verify / confirm that your 2 rooms are connecting or adjacent before you even go to your rooms. If you have the opportunity try stopping by the Front desk as early in the day as possible. This will allow the most flexibility for the Front desk to adjust your room assignments if necessary.

Good to hear that January isn’t as bad as July for the 15’s. Do you think we should try to see if we could switch to Music or Movies? I just figured they’d be at any of the All Stars and since we’ve stayed at those ones on previous trips we thought we’d try Sports this time. Not sure we’d find availability at those ones though at this point but I could try I suppose.
