Disneyland regulars- would you go to WDW Magic Kingdom Park just to ride The People mover?

As one other person mentioned, if you are gong mid August or beyond and it's a night when the Halloween Party is happening, I'd buy a ticket for that. You can get in at 4pm and the People Mover does operate during the party. You would also see a fantastic Halloween parade that is unique to the party, it's less crowded, and you can get a ton of candy! If you want to do the Carousel of Progress, do that when you enter at 4pm, as not all attractions operate during MNSSHP. The ticket price is abut what you would pay for a one day ticket and there will be less crowds. If you don't do the party and your night is one where a party is happening, you will have to leave by 6pm as the park closes early to day guests. If I can remember, parties usually happen on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sunday's in August??? Not 100% sure on the Sundays, I'm sure someone else can chime in!

My husband and I have discussed spending a whole day at MK just riding the People Mover. We want to see how many times we could ride it in one day. Haven't done it yet, but someday...

TOTALLY worth it.
My oldest and I once spent however much to attend the Halloween Party at MK just so she could ride Space Mountain 9 times in a row to beat her previous record of riding it 8 times in one visit, spread over multiple days. It was worth it till about the 6th ride and my stomach started to rebel.

LOL. Did you daughter continue on and set a new personal record?

I pressed on like a good dad. I started closing my eyes and tried deep breathing. Thankfully, it's a short ride and the walk from the exit of the ride to the boarding platform provided my stomach some relief. We rode the full 9 times. Then it was my turn to get a fun ride on the Haunted Mansion.

You're a good dad. :-)

I remember going in on early entry once and doing Space Mountain three times in a row. That was plenty for my stomach. I had to let it settle down so I could eat breakfast (which I think was included with Magic Mornings back then).

Yes!! 🙌🏻 would totally do that. Lol. We love people mover and carousel of progress. Our kids love them too. Have so much fun! We had breakfast at the poly on our last trip and we all fell in love with it. Beautiful property.

As someone who loves DL and would say that DL > MK in many respects there is quite a bit at MK to experience. I think a few people may have already hit some of these points but here goes some of my items I love at MK that aren't in the west.

Happily Ever After - it's an awesome show and I'd give it the nod over anything I've seen in CA. Worth experiencing at least once (or more than once if you can). On that same note the 4th fireworks are also better at MK vs DL. But you should see the 4th fireworks on the 3rd and go to EPCOT on the 4th if you are there at that time.

Tron - It's a fun ride.

Mine Train - It's a fun coaster and the theme is good. Not worth a crazy long wait but if under 45ish min it's a must do.

Haunted Mansion - The exterior is better at DL and I love the holiday overlay in CA. But the overall ride is better in FL. The interactive items in the line (if they work) are also fun in FL.

To go along with the People Mover also love that the Astro Orbiter is still elevated at MK.

The mosaics inside the castle are cool if you can walk through it (they close it down a lot for shows and events).

Speaking of the castle, eating inside at Royal Table is a cool but pricy experience.

Skipper Canteen would also get a nod for cool place to eat and a fun experience at MK.

And yes, I do make sure I pay my respects and ride the PM every day we have at MK and it does bring back memories and also a bit of anger that they replaced the PM with the rods. I got to ride the Rods once or twice. Not worth it.....

Thanks for all the feedback and additional suggestions. It sounds like I would probably be happy if I decided to go to the park - depending on the weather, of course. It'll be too early in the month for the Halloween party. We'll have 2 nights at the Polynesian, but really just one day since we're arriving in the evening and then leaving for the cruise in the morning on the last day. The plan was a resort day or even to go visit the other DVC resorts. Since the cruise is similar to a resort stay (only visiting the 2 Disney Islands), I started thinking maybe we'd have resort day and People Mover evening. 😛 Knowing that there's a few other things I would enjoy helps motivate me to go. Coming from Disneyland, I know I have to roll with changes to itinerary since I'm used to rides going down.

It’s a totally different experience there. My favs and most dos would be:
People Mover #1
Tron
Seven Dwarves Mine Train

I don’t like the heat which is why I only use my MK in spring and winter (mostly winter like today). But if you buy a ticket take advantage of checking out the different things. If you’re not in a rush to get it all done you can find a lot of really good AC.

I think it's hilarious that Disney spends oodles of money on fancy new rides and then people most want to ride an old tram. 😁

Note that I'm not disagreeing with your priorities!
