Disneyland fireworks from outside the park?

We are arriving on Sunday, March 9th and we're staying at the Villas at the Disneyland Hotel. Our plan is to see family in the area on Sunday and then go to DL and settle in and start on Monday morning. I just noticed that the ONLY day the park has fireworks is on the weekends and there are no fireworks on any of the 4 other days we are there. I already bought my 4-Day PH with LL and I don't want to pay the difference ($158, face value) for an extra day just to go in for the fireworks and I'm not exactly sure how price bridging works at DL since I bought the tickets at a discount from my DH's retiree program.

I guess there is a chance that we will have a fireworks view from our studio villa. I've also read that there is a viewing area up on top of the Pixar Place Hotel with music, but is it open to non-Pixar guests? Any other ideas? Restaurants with a view?

Thanks for your help!

If you don't care about music or projections, you can see the fireworks from the esplanade between the two parks. YouTube has several videos of fireworks from various locations. This one shows the view from the esplanade.
I would prefer to hear the music and see the projections if possible.

I don't believe you can view the projections outside of the park. The music is piped into the club level viewing areas but not regular rooms.

They do not live stream the fireworks show on TV. This Plan Disney response might help:

Unfortunately, the nighttime spectaculars are not live-streamed onto the TVs at the Disneyland Resort Hotels. You may listen to the soundtracks on Channels 60 and 61 anytime, which is really cool but it is not synchronized to the show. All channel information is subject to change.

If you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel (my favorite!), the soundtrack for Disneyland Park's nighttime spectacular is piped in to the Adventure Tower Lawn at the Rose Court Garden, so some Guests gather there to watch. Over at the Pixar Place Hotel, the soundtrack is piped in to the Pool Deck and you have a great view of the fireworks.

Thanks so much! Do I have to be a guest of Pixar Place to go to the viewing area?

I believe you do. I'm local so don't stay in the hotels. @crystal1313 might know the answer. If she doesn't, you might ask in the Pixar Place Superthread.

Edit to add: I've never watched fireworks from DLH Rose Garden. To me, it seems like it would be a poor view. :confused3

I'm not sure about which places with stream the music along with the fireworks, and I know for a fact that you won't be able to see the projections, but don't let that make you pass on the fireworks themselves. It really is a spectacular show regardless. You could watch it out in the esplanade, or you could find a seat on one of the rooftop patios in Downtown Disney.

Projections are muchado about nothing. Occasionally I’ve seen them do the projection show over It’s A Small World, with music blaring throughout Fantasyland. Anyone know the rhyme or reason for this? It’s obviously not random since people crowd the platforms they built for Light Magic.

I was able to go check out the pool deck after it was renovated to Pixar place without being a hotel guest. I believe anyone can go up there to view fireworks and they pipe in music. I would call the hotel to confirm though.

That’s a great tip. I wouldn’t call the hotel - the official answer will be that it is a perk reserved for resort guests. Same is true of the viewing platforms in WDW, although most can be accessed by anyone (the Bay Lake Tower platform is restricted to DVC).

Can you recommend one of the rooftop patios?

Parkside Market in Downtown Disney is very close to the Disneyland Hotel. Their second floor balcony, Vista, supposedly has good views of fireworks. Parkside Market just opened last month so there isn't much fireworks info yet. I did find this video which might help.

Another option is to make a reservation for Paseo (the DL app seems to offer later times than Open Table). Paseo is one of my favorite restaurants. The key here will be to get a seat on the outside patio. Usually reservations get the indoor seats and walk-ins sit outside. That may be flipped for the evening fireworks crowd. If you are interested in this, you might call the restaurant and find out the best way to get one of those outside tables late in the evening. This video shows the view from Paseo.

Thanks! That was very helpful. I'm rethinking just paying to get in for the evening. I've not been to Disneyland for 7 years and I really want to see the evening entertainment in the park and Sunday will be my only chance. This is so annoying! Of course, I'm preaching to the choir on entertainment cuts.

Hey! Sounds like a fun trip ahead! The Pixar Place viewing area is generally for Pixar hotel guests, but you might still be able to catch a decent view from the Villas if you’re lucky. You can try places like Napa Rose or even the outdoor spots near Downtown Disney for a good view of the fireworks, but it’s hit or miss depending on where you’re standing. Hopefully, you can get a glimpse without needing to pay for an extra day. Have an awesome time!
