Disney Skyliner Refurb 2025

Last year the refurb dates were announced on Oct 25.
Here's what I posted on another thread:

Here's what Disney Tourist Blog had to say:

"Since past precedent suggests this is annual preventative maintenance for the Skyliner, here are historical dates for the gondolas refurbishment:
  • Winter 2023: Skyliner system-wide closure January 22-29.
  • Winter 2022: Skyliner system-wide closure January 23-28.
  • Winter 2021: Skyliner individual routes closed for single-day downtime between January 24 and 28.
  • Winter 2020: No Skyliner closure–it was only a few months old!
According to the DTB Archives, the 2021-2023 closures were all announced between early May and mid-August. This year’s closure was the anomaly, with a late October announcement."

So no guarantee of course, but you might be able to plan around previous year's dates.

It will be interesting to see what happens for next year. So far they’ve scheduled the refurb for 6-7 days starting on a Monday the 4th week of January. This year, that would be Monday the 27th & take them into February. Mardi Gras isn’t until March, so nothing to interfere with an early February closure. So a good possibility. If they wanted to stay in the “20s” of January (other years they started on the 22 & 23) Monday the 20th is MLK Day. That week is likely to be a little busier than a non holiday week, so probably not the best time for a closure. Whatever they do next year should help with planning in the future.

Any information on when Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment in 2025? We are booked at Pop for January but will move hotels if Skyliner not available. Thanks all!
This is us too...I'm looking at doing a split stay because we don't want to be at Pop unless the Skyliner is open. There is nothing wrong with Pop but we have to have a purpose to stay there.

That week would be OK. I hope Disney is listening to you. After all, I'm planning to get over to the Riviera for pancake breakfast!

I really hope they announce soon. We are there 25th of January to 1st of Feb, so are expecting closures. We've booked a different resort as we're were expecting closures... But if there aren't any closures I'd like to swap to POP

We are at POP that week, and as of last week, there was only 1 room category still available for booking - pool view. While I'm hoping that isn't refurb week, when we talked about staying at an Epcot resort for IG access, we realized even paying for Lyft over to the Dolphin and back a few times or to Riveria for dinner would be way cheaper than staying somewhere else.

My guess, nothing official has been announced but if I had to venture a guess, it will be sometime in January again. 90 percent of the maintenance and work that gets done during the shutdown is done by Doppelmayr. They designed, built and maintain the system, Disney and cms just operate it.

I am in the same situation, waiting for an announcement on skyliner closure dates.

I am currently booked at CBR for late January into February. Worried that the skyliner closure will continue into February because of how late MLK Day is this year. That would have a really significant impact on our plans.

I should probably just accept that complaining about it isn't going to help me any, and just not overthink it until Disney makes an announcement. But it's frustrating that they are choosing to announce it so late. My options to switch to other resorts are dwindling as things get booked up. I'd like to start thinking about dining and other plans, but that's so dependent on where we'll be staying and if the skyliner is open.

Add me to the list wondering when it will be :) I am booked end of Jan into Feb at POP. I was looking at All Star Movies, but their pool is closed during that time. And now options with a discount are unavailable at the Values so I guess I'm settled with POP but wondering if I'll be taking buses instead of Skyliner. Or if I should splurge on a moderate like Port Orleans.

Yup me too. According to previous years downtime, that's exactly when I'll be there. Will follow for updates of course. I thought I read somewhere about different "legs" of Skyliner being down for refurb which leads me to think they rotate the shutdown for sections perhaps? Or is it all or nothing?

I'm planning on staying via DVC at RIV Jan 16-21, so I really want to know when the Refurb is and whether I should move hotels. There's no point IMHO at staying at RIV if the Skyliner is not available.

I was at WDW Jan 12-21 and the Skyliner was closed the 16th- I think 21 or 27. My final 2 nights were at Riviera, whoops! But this is the time of year I like to visit WDW due to the weather so if I can get a couple rides on the Skyliner before they close it, I'm good.

That would figure this year. I'll be at BCV January 19-25. No doubt they'll pick that week.

January is very heavily booked up, I am beginning to wonder if they will do it in Feb.

So what are everyone's contingency plans if the skyline closure impacts their visit? Switch resorts? Alternate transportation? Just accept and take the bus?

I'm contemplating my own options as I wait for some news!

I just took the bus. From riviera there’s only one bus stop area so it isn’t challenging and that time of the year isn’t super busy. But uts like any form of transportation at Disney you need to plan some time to accommodate it. I don’t know why people get so weird about (not you) the buses when they’re free. Just plan ahead account for travel time. Maybe it’s because I live in Los Angeles and deal with traffic that I’m immune to the travel time.

I get it, the skyliner is an attraction in itself. I really enjoy my quiet time up in the air just watching the view change.

I will admit there have been ends of the night where a $20 Lyft was a treat and worth it.
