Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

1000007810.jpgAnyone know who the two ducks next to Scrooge are? Saw this at Disney Flagship Store Tokyo. Maybe @wabbott knows?

Interestingly, I found that a lot of older and even obscure characters are featured in shows, parades, and merchandise at Tokyo Disney. Horace Horsecollar and Clara Cluck, for example.

Scrooge and Gladstone were created by legendary duck artist Carl Barks, and were very prominent in the comics of the 50s and 60s

Ah, I should have known the one on the right was Gladstone Gander! Thanks for the INDUCKS link

BTW, who was the artist of that portrait? I couldn't read the tag. Donald is 90 this year, and was first seen in The Wise Little Hen.
I couldn't see an artist on there. The tag at the bottom center says "Donald Duck 90" but there's no signature. The bottom left says "30/90." Maybe there's a signature in back, but if so, I missed it!

Some big updates via Scott Gustin:

- Test Track reopens late summer 2025, back to being sponsored by GM
- Zootopia AK show debuts winter 2025 (i.e. possibly late next year)
- SSE lounge opens late spring 2025
- Pirates Tavern opens late 2025
- MK night parade debuts summer 2025
- Dinosaur will remain open for ALL of 2025, closing at some point in 2026

I think that's it? And as I'm finishing this up I see that they posted this to the parks blog so here are the full details.

Dinosaur being open all of 2025 and closing at " some point " in 2026 is funny. We'll be lucky if that new land area opens by 2030

Well, most of the work in the new land is outside of the Dinosaur show building. So perhaps they're getting started with all that first so they can keep Dinosaur open as long as possible.

Same can theoretically be done for MuppetVision3D. If the goal is 2028 for Monstropolis it could possibly stay open until 2027ish as the coaster can be built backstage and how they go about phasing demolition of Stage 1 and rethemes of restaurants/shops.
