A week ago Sunday, we had dinner at Le Cellier. Our reservation was for 5:40, we checked in at 5:35 and were asked if we were on the DDP. In all of our trips over the years, this is the first time we have been asked at the podium if we were on a dining package. :confused3 The question was not repeated during the rest of our vacation.

We were seated sometime after 6:05. For appetizers we ordered shrimp cocktail with wasabi cole slaw, the tomatoe stack and the cheese soup. Our son loves shrimp cocktail and pretty much inhaled the 5 or 6 small shrimp. He didn't care for the cole slaw. I had a taste and my husband finished the small portion which was served in a martininglass if memory serves. If you're afraid of wasabi, never fear as there is so little in it that there is no kick at all. Just enough to give it a refreshing twist. My husband had the tomatoe stack which he loved. I had the cheese soup because I was so chilled. It was nice and warm this night. The server was also great about bringing me hot tea and refreshing the hot water. :thumbsup2

Our entrees were the beef tenderloin, salmon and prime rib. My husband graded the tenderloin as good and he enjoyed it. Our son loved the salmon. I requested mashed potatoes instead of whatever it was being served with (spoonbread I think) because it is easier for me to judge carbs in mashed potatoes. I had the prime rib and was disappointed. It was very fatty and had a smoky taste which was probably in the demi glace. One reason I sometimes order prime rib at steak places is because I dislike any smoky or charred flavor.

Desserts were the seasonal sorbet for our son which he loved, Whiskey cake for me which was good and "seasonal dessert" for my DH according to the receipt. Sorry can't remember what it was. :confused3

My husband enjoyed a chocolate raspberry shake at the beginning of the meal and we split a bottle of pinot noir using our DDE discount. A grauity was automatically applied to that bill.

Our server was Jennifer and she did a fine job. Including the wait, we spent almost exactly 2 hours at Le Cellier which seems a bit long to me for a meal in the parks. If as others have said, a half hour wait is common at Le Cellier these days, I personally think some revision to the staffing or bookings should be done.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ As much as I love TS meals, 2 hours in a park restaurant does seem a little excessive.

We ate at LeCellier last Thursday and were extremely disappointed. Our server (Paul) was super nice, but not very good. For example, we all went thru our entire meals waiting for our first drink refill. The refill eventually came - after the check!

I had the mushroom filet, which was ok - just ok. DH had the free range chicken and didn't finish it. For apps I had the cheese soup. Again, it was fine, but nothing like I thought it would be based on all of the rave reviews we'd heard. I think DH ordered some kind of salmon app that he thought was good.

Desserts were good (whisky cake and blueberry? buckle). But frankly by that time we were parched, had been trapped in the restaurant for about 2 hours and really couldn't wait to get DS (3) out of there.

Overall very disappointing. We won't return.

Enjoyed the review!! Seems as tho Le cellier is now a victim of it's own success--crowded, with waits even with ADR's

Thanks for sharing your review. We have ADR's for our next trip. I'll plan to be there awhile, it sounds like! :bitelip:

We had a wonderful experience at Le Cellier last Wednesday (9/27). Our ADR was at 5:10pm and we arrived about 5. We were seated after about a 5 minute wait. I don't remember our Server's name, but she was wonderful. Both my friend and I had the Cheddar Cheese soup for the appetizer and we both really enjoyed it. We both liked the breadsticks, I liked the pretzel bread the best, but my friend liked the multigrain the best (the other one - sourdough was good as well). We polished off the breadsticks pretty quickly and our server brought us more within a few minutes. For the entree I ordered the 7 ounce filet with the cream cheese mashed potatoes and it was delicious. I would order it again in a heartbeat. My friend ordered the Le Cellier Mushroom filet and thought it was delicious as well. For dessert we both had the blueberry buckle. It was great, but we were both too full to eat much of it. Our drinks were refilled quickly whenever they got low, and we were in and out of the restaurant by 6:15, but didn't feel rushed at all. It is too bad some others had not so great experiences, because ours was one of the restaurant highlights of our trip.

Quite a few of the restaurants asked us if we were on the dining plan when we checked in. The servers got a card that told them that we were on the dining plan, so they explained to us what all we could get with the plan (whether or not smoothies were considered beverages, that we each got an appetizer, entree and dessert, etc.). I just assumed that they asked at check in, so the server could explain the dining plan to us in case we didn't know all the specifics.

Shagley, it sounds as if you had a great meal at Le Cellier. Thanks for adding your experience. Will you share some more reviews? I hope to get around to doing so myself!

As for asking whether we were on the DDP, the question did surprise me. We are old veterans of Disney Dining. It has been a major part of our WDW experiences since the early 80's. I just never remember being asked that question at the podium before...ever. It just surprised me. As I said, our server did an excellent job. But you would think anyone on the plan would be aware it includes an appetizer, entree and dessert if you wish. :confused3 Although we've only done this version of the DDP twice, we used to do the old Gold Key plan over the years. We were never asked asked at the podium if we were on that plan either.

Thanks for your review BCV23!!! :thumbsup2

We enjoyed LeCellier infinitely more when it was unpopular. It was nearly the low-point of our dining experience this year. The wait time is ridiculous, IMO.

Le Cellier was my favorite spot on Disney Grounds but not exceptional.
We had to wait 20 minutes. It was a little drug out but I would dine there again if on the plan. Alot of Disney places were so overpriced I ca't imagine
not being on the plan.
