Can someone please explain to me digital scrapbooking? I scrapbook the regular way but some of these seem interesting. I have looked at a couple of site where you down load the package/kit but where do you go from there?

Any and all help is appreciated.:flower3:

That link does have great info.

Before you can use the downloads (kits, etc) you need the software. That's the first choice to make.

I got started about 8 months ago by visiting www.ikeagoddess.blogspot.com.

I download tons of stuff from there, and she has some tutorial posted on her blog too.

The only thing I've ever purchased is Photoshop Elements 6. All the "paper" and "stickers" and "ribbons" (digital elements) I've downloaded for free! :)

Of course, if you would like bigger digital scrapbooking kits, Britt-ish Designs rule! www.brittishdesigns.blogspot.com

I posted this on another board where they were asking about digital scrapbooking, the links above give much more detail this is very general.

I'm using Photoshop Elements but you can use most graphic / pictures programs. Creative Memories has their own and people that have used it say it's pretty easy; there is a free version but you can't do much with that. Photoshop also has a free version and I'd try them out before buying. I understand that the CM version doesn't have as much photo editing but I haven't used it.

The pages are really just a series of pictures put together. When I started thinking about it a few years ago there wasn't much to work with but now there is too much. The amount of stuff is a little overwhelming; I've started being pretty selective of what I get it but still have more than I'll ever use.

I use these sites to look for freebies:

This one she selects what to put on the site so it doesn't have as many but usually more accurate links.

This one is created by a search engine so sometimes gets more junky stuff.
http://digifree.blogspot.com/

These are my favorite designers; the designers have blogs that they advertise their products etc. They'll have freebies and examples of what people have done with their kits. The kits range in price about $5 - $8; lots of the stores have sales so that helps too. I didn't realize when I started how much was out there for free and bought several kits. It would have been better to collect freebies for a while until I found designers that I tend to use which has changed from what I thought I would do and what I do now. Kits include papers, elements (flowers, ribbons etc) & alphas. The nice part about kits is that everything matches so it makes putting stuff together easy.

http://brittishdesigns.blogspot.com/ *search for freebies, she has lots of Disney stuff. The best Disney I've found.

http://ellielash.com/ctblog/ *This one has freebies from above designer
http://vicki20.blogspot.com/ * This one usually just has freebies
http://zane-escraps.blogspot.com/
http://scrap-stuff.blogspot.com/ *She has nice templates

I visit the scrapbook section at here and the forums at www.scrapmatters.com; they have contests etc and it helps with the what do I scrap issue and the galleries are a great place to get ideas and see what you can do.
