I know many here probably had made or made their own Tshirts.. I want to create some. but never have.
I might have a friend of a friend who has a cricut machine. am I able to take an image in ppt ( I have some DCLimages as jpg) custome add font / names etc... and resave as jpg and can that person convert this on their machine?

I dont have any digital art tools, just ppt lol thanks!
I am looking at one color / one layer to keep things simple

I imagine Cricut can do it, but there are plenty of commercial services that can make iron on decals from jpgs at a reasonable cost. Less stress on your friend, more felixble and tested result.

Cricut requires a specific file type to upload an actual image. If you use a jpg, you can use it, but it’ll “see” a lot of background stuff that’s not necessarily visible to the eye that will need to be manually cleaned up by the user. It’s kind of hard to explain but it may not clean thoroughly. There may be stray lines or jagged edges that you can’t quite get rid of. Sometimes if borders aren’t complete, it may delete parts of the actual image you want to keep. I think there might be software that will convert a jpg into the type of file Cricut wants to use? Or find a business to do it like PP suggested.

yep, Cricut prefers vector graphics which is resolution independent and just says, draw a curve (or a line) here. JPG is literally a bitmap and at best is only as good as its resolution, which at low res is jagged... hence if I were married to using JPG I would use a different type of printer that works like inkdot printers (bitmap) to print out a decal you can iron on. The advantage of decals is simplicity, cost (lower I think), and easy to have multiple colors at once. The disadvantage (I think) is they may not last as many wash cycles as something more permanent like vinyl from Cricut. But I have lots of t-shirts of family t-shirts with cruise dates on them that I dont tend to wear off the cruise. fun on the cruise btw. but I am not even as ambitious as the OP, there are places that make the tshirts for you, you chose a design, give names, and a week later get a great t-shirt. The risk is another family having the same design/color combo, but a) haven't seen that ever, and b) if they had my last name then hey, might be family I should meet!.

Yeah, the issue is I’m here in Germany and it would be so easy in the states to get a Disney T-shirt specialist

my apologies, do not seem to appear culturally backwards, but when I google custom disney cruise t shirts, I get a variety of places that offer to ship internationally (admittedly takes weeks and money so maybe not viable). But in that case, I would think iron on decals are the way to go because there must be local print shops that do that and you can come up with the design.

You can print your own iron-on decals. Many companies make print your own decal sheets.

You can buy SVG ready files on Etsy.com for a few dollars with basic Disney cruise images. Just search for "Disney cruise SVG".

If your friend has a Cricut, then I assume she/he has basic skills using their software and can add the text you want to your design. Many people use the waltograph font that you can download from online.

Making t-shirts is pretty easy and if your friend is like me, I enjoy an excuse to take out my Cricut and make things.

If your friend uses their Cricut enough and is adept, they should know the various ways they can convert a jpg file to what they need. Just keep in mind that not all files are going to transfer into something that looks good - regular pictures don't tend to convert well (better suited to iron-on) but simple silhouette images and text work fine.

I'd chat with your friend and see what they can and are willing to do. Sometimes it's easier to add the text in Cricut's Designspace rather than have it already there beforehand.

Just made 12 of these for my family for the end of the month. Agree with everyone above that said an SVG file is the way to go. And frankly, I just take things from design space and make modifications most of the time.

Please post what you make! Would love to see them!

I anticipate making some for our cruise next fall for 3 grandsons. The thought being they each need 3 bright shirts (so that they are easy to see in the airports and when we first get on the ship). That way easy to identify a lost one! And for those days…the kids will be all in the same color!

However, she anticipates, that each kiddo (at least the 4 and 6 year old, when cruising)can pick their respective designs…so, this will be fun! I love crafting with the oldest…the middle one hasn’t been involved yet…still only 2.5 years old. Hope he likes this too.
