Why oh why did we buy this?! It is such a pain to clean. I follow all the directions (clean spills up immediately, etc.) and have been using the gook that came with it. I've also bought several other cleaners that they sell in the grocery store...none are that great.

DD made pancakes this weekend and dripped some batter on it. Nothing would get it off. I ended up just using my fingernail to scrape it and it finally came off but it ook forever.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make cleaning it easier? Thanks!

they gave us a bottle of the cleaning stuff..when it was gone, I just bought a container of the soft scrub comet and use that..they also gave us what I consider to be a 'scraper'..a metal thing that you put single edge razor blades in..I use that to scrape off burnt on spills (gently!), then use the soft scrub comet, then follow up with cinch window cleaner to make the stove sparkle!

I use Cinch most days. If I want to do a deep cleaning I take powdered comet (only comet will do) and add water to make a paste. I wet a paper towel and work the comet into the stain. I will leave it there for a tough stain. I then wipe off the comet paste with wet paper towels. The stove shines. Ours is 16 years old.

Do you use Comet on a glass/ceramic cooktop. I was told to absolutely NOT use anything abrasive on it (which Comet is) because you would put micro-scratches into the glass which would then cause more problems later.

Razor blade. It won't scratch your surface but it will get tough stuck on spots off relatively easily.

Scotch Guard sells a cooktop cleaning kit that comes with a scrubber and disposable pads. It works really well. For really stubborn stains, I use a razor blade - it came with the stove. Four years later ours still looks great.

You're not alone. I hate mine. And it's black. :headache: Live and learn I guess.

I bought Cook Top Magic, I think I got it in Home Depot. It really works. You put it on with a cloth, and it looks like Soft Scrub coming out. Then use a new cloth to buff it. It takes a few minutes to clean it this way, but it does make it look like new and gets off all the crusty stuff. I use this once a week. Then I use Windex Clean and Shine the rest of the time, with a microfiber cloth I got at the Dollar Store. Those cloths are the best, and make all the difference.

I couldn't live without a razor blade in my kitchen. My mom used them all the time and I thought they were so old-fashioned - until I had a glass/ceramic cooktop!!!

I think you can still find them in grocery and hardware stores - the most useful tool ever invented!!

Yes we use comet, but turn it into a paste. This is what our manufacturer recommended. Only comet can be used. This stove is 16 years old and still looks great.

The best and cheapest cooktop cleaner is Barkeepers friend. I use the liquid-y version, but it also comes in powder form that you can make into a paste. Works great! I use it for cleaning my pans ( I don't have non-stick cookware) and it works so great on those. Cleans anything that was stuck on and make them shiny and looking like new. Also shines of the copper on the pans!:thumbsup2

Did you get a razor scraper? I used to have a ceramic cook top before we moved and I loved it and had no problems keeping it clean with the scraper and that white polishing type cream.
