I was thinking about getting my daughter the Mattel castle they've been showing commercials for. It sells for around $50.00. I read the reviews on Toys R Us.com and they weren't good. I found one at the Disney Store, and it sells for only $25.00 more. I believe it's the same one sold in the parks. It says "park authentic."

Has anyone purchased one? It will be used for play, not display, by a 3 year old. Any reviews? Thanks

I can't help you, but I am also interested to know this. My daughter wants the Mattel castle, but I just can't bring myself to buy it after reading how bad the reviews are.

I've been eyeing that thing for YEARS and I finally have a DD now to buy it for LOL. From what I hear, the quality is good.

I can't bring myself to buy the Mattel made one either! Not if it is made cheaply!

I figured I would spend the extra $25.00 and get the Disney made one, as long as it's study. I remember seeing the model last winter, and it looked sturdy. I didn't try it out though.

We bought the set in 2006 at Magic Kingdom. My DD was 4 at the time. The set is nice and it has gotten many hours of play from my DD and all of her friends. The set I have lights up and plays some music (very simple sounds). The set in the ad looks the same, but I didn't see anything about the lights or tunes...

I would buy the set again in a heartbeat. I think it is so cute and worth the $.

ETA: The quality is very nice. All of the pieces are still in excellent condition after many hours of play.

my DD has this and while she's not terribly rough on toys, my boys are. That being said, the main structure of the castle is still holding up after 3yrs of non-stop use(although it has been snapped in half and part of a wall is missing ). Many of the accessories and the extra pieces to the castle have not fared as well and the carriage lasted as one whole piece less than 24hrs.

I'd buy it again in a heartbeat though since it is still standing.

We bought the "authentic" Cinderella Castle for our DD for her 3rd b-day back in July and she loves it! She plays with it just about every day and for hours at a time. It comes with all of the princesses and their princes and lights up and makes sounds. If your DD loves WDW and the princesses, she will love this as a gift! Definitely one of the best gifts we've ever bought her!

We got it at Disney this past March. I had it sent home and gave it to 4YO DD for Easter. I don't think it's made all that great, but it isn't the worse either. Prince Charming had broke, but DD still uses him and one of the Princesses has lot an arm. Though I thought the quality should be better, especially for the price, I am super happy we got it. DD plays with it ALOT and she just loves it.
I would also buy it again in a heartbeat.

I personally thought the disney park one was made very cheaply and have refused to buy it now for 3 years! I have a few friends who own it and all have said the same thing, doesn't hold up well. Their girls are not rough on toys either. Guess it just depends on what type of quality you are looking for. I prefer items made more like little people toys with sturdier plastic.

I will say that all the kids did thoroughly enjoy it!

We have the castle from Disney World and have had it for over 3 years now. My dauther still plays with it a lot! It has lasted through her and her friends playdates. One of the princesses lost her head, but the character sets from disney store that are 2 for $20 work awesome with the castle and we just bought a new set to go with it.

This has to be the best purchase from Disney we have ever made!

I'm looking to also buy this for my dd this year. I'm confused though, when I google it there are castle playsets up to $199. Are these different ones? How many different ones are there?

I gogoled it and found a $199 on Amazon, is that the one you are talking about? it is the exact same one I got from Disney. Looks like someone is trying to make a big profit. It used to be that you could only get it at Disney, or had to do some calling to Disney to try and get it, though most don't know you can do that. Now Disneyshopping has alot of stuff they sell in parks online, so you can find this stuff easier now.

My DD6 got this for her birthday in July and loves it! I accidentally tripped over it and broke a piece off, so I bought superglue and fixed it like new. She can be hard on toys at times and it is holding up well. A few of the small pieces like the carriage have broke but I haven't tried to fix them since I've been busy. We used my DH's birthday fun card to buy it in March and had it shipped home.

I have to agree on the quality of the castle from WDW. I thought the parts came off quite easily. I would not spend the money again on it.

I called my local Disney store, and they said they do not carry it in the stores.

Also, in response to someone else's comment. You're correct, the Mattel one is different than the one at the Disney parks and online. They don't even look alike.

Thanks everyone for the reviews. Looks like I will not be buying the Mattel made castle, and instead I will purchase the castle that is sold in the parks and at Disneystore.com.

I think she will LOVE it!:disrocks
