Can you save pancake batter and use it the next day?

I just made up a batch of pancakes for my son for lunch. Without thinking I made the full-sized batch. Would it be ok to save the rest of the batter for tomorrow. Or would it just be better to make up the pancakes and save them instead.

My wife has. Although, I don't remember the last time she did it. We usually use it all.

You can but I would just make them & reheat later. You can do big batches & freeze for fast meals.

My dad does it all the time. (I don't like pancakes, he does.) As long as it's covered & refrigerated, it'll be fine.

I know people who make the batter the night before so they can make pancakes in the morning, so I'm sure you could do it. I've never done it myself. I usually make a huge batch of pancakes and freeze (between wax paper) whatever we don't eat.

As long as it';s the next day it's fine. A few days later and it gets all runny and really separates.

yes you can, but I like to do it all at once so I only have to clean the mess once

You can either make all the batter into pancakes and freeze them, or cover the batter and refrigerate.
When I make my Great Grandma's buttermilk pancakes, part of the recipe is to leave the batter in the fridge overnight.

Yes, I do it all the time.

One tip though--when you are making the pancakes from the cold, leftover batter, let it sit out on the counter for awhile. I find that when I cook the pancakes and the batter is still really cold, they don't cook well in the middle for some reason and can be kind of gooey.

I will generally let it sit out about 30 minutes or longer to get the chill off and then cook and they are fine.

Alright, I'm going to try it. I personally don't like to eat reheated pancakes, but the kids don't mind. Thanks everyone!
