i am traveling from the UK tomorrow and my dd is 20 months, she still has a bedtime bottle and at home we used cooled boiled water for this as she has powdered toddler milk. Will i need to bring a kettle from home or can i hire one or use the coffee maker thats comes in the room to boil the water?

A coffeemaker won't get hot enough to boil water. It will get hot of course but won't boil. You wouldn't have access to a stove to use the kettle.

Is there a reason why the water needs boiled? If it's because of the "cleanness" of the water, then just use bottled water to make the formula.

If she needs it warm then the coffee pot should be warm enough, I use that to make myself tea. :) If you are worried about germs use bottled water and run it thru the coffee pot. :)

The water doesn't need to be boiled for safety issues. If you are just trying to get it warm, then the coffee maker should work just fine.

Can you not use the microwave in your room?

Caution. If you heat liquids in the microwave, after it is supposedly done, look through the window in front and stir up the surface of the liquid vigorously with a fork or something. This way the water won't explode in your face. (Yes that has happened to soeone due to some idiosyncrasy having to do with surface tension and the water's actually going above 212 degrees without boiling by itself.)

I would think that a drip coffee maker will get the water close to boiling if you put the water through a second time.

I read an article about hotel cleanliness that said people wash their underwear in hotel coffee makers. I would use the bottled water.

I have a friend who used to be a flight attendant and she told me that some of the girls use the hotel coffee maker to wash their underwear. That may be the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. Don't ask me why they wouldn't just use the sink. In any case, I wouldn't use the hotel coffee maker for myself, let alone a baby.

I would just use bottled water, but if you really want to boil tap water, bring an electric kettle.

I probably would not lug a kettle. You could mix the formula with bottled water and then use heated water in the coffee pot to warm up the sealed bottle. I did this with little ones on flights.
