Can I bake chicken at 475 degrees?

I have a recipe for butter basted potatoes that calls for baking them for 15 minutes at 475 degrees.

I'm also making boneless, skinless breaded chicken breasts that I would like to bake in the oven at the same time. I would normally cook the chicken at a lower heat for longer but I wonder if it would be alright to cook the breaded boneless breasts for 15 minutes at 475. Will they burn? Will they be fully cooked?

Any advice?

That's really high.....I'm guessing that your crust would burn before the inside was fully done....but it depends on how thick the chicken is. Normally, I would only cook chicken like you specified, for 20 minutes anyways, but at around 375, MAYBE 400, definitely not 475.....

I think you'll end up with a dry tough crust and a raw inside. I wouldn't risk it.

That's what I'm afraid of!

The "breading" is actually rice krispies ground up in the blender....it turns out just like fried chicken with a crispy crust but you don't fry it. It's really great chicken and I hate to ruin it.

On the other hand, the potatoe recipe is a new one and I hate to mess with it having never tried it before although it seems less likely to be a problem if I cook the potatoes at lower heat but for longer.

Hmmm, what to do, what to do. The one thing I don't want to do is use the oven twice at separate temps for this project.

I would adjust the timing of the potatoes. Cook the chicken according to plan and cook the potatoes a bit longer.

Definitely do not do that, it will either be very dry or cooked and dry on teh outside and raw in the middle. Cook the chicken first - then remove and raise the heat for the potatoes - cook taters - when they're done take them out, turn the oven off and throw the chicken in to "reheat" while you get everything else on the table.

Definitely way too high for the chicken. I'd cook it at the temp you want for the chicken and then adjust the cooking time of the potatoes.
