Can a jar of mayo be brought with me on the plane

No. It is the same category as liquids. If you check luggage how about a plastic squeeze bottle in checked luggage?

Not under the plane and unopened. Thanks!

Mayo is considered a liquid by the TSA and thus any jar would have to be smaller than 3.4oz/100ml.

While mayo can often be the perfect ingredient to add moisture and flavor to a sandwich, it cannot conceal items from our X-rays. At New York Kennedy (JFK), a utility tool/knife was found submerged in a full jar of mayo. The jar of mayo was a poor choice by the way, since it’s prohibited due to our liquid policy.

Basically, anything that will not hold its shape when removed from its container is considered a 'liquid' by the TSA. Mayo most definitely won't hold it's shape.

Am I the only person wondering why someone would want to carry a jar of mayo? :)

Nope, you're not the only one. ;) It's not like it's something that you wouldn't be able to find at any resort gift shop.

Welllllll, I did carry a stick of butter and a jar of strawberry seedless jam to WDW!! Granted, it was in my checked bag, and the butter was frozen! And, I put it, along with my English muffins, in a Tupperware celery keeper so it didn't get broken/crushed.
Why did I do that? Because number 1, I had room in the bag, and number 2, I hate paying the prices in the gift shop, even if I can find what I need.

In Nov, I took a jar of peanut butter, a jar of marshmallow fluff and some bread down with me!

I have checked, squeeze bottle of mayo, jelly, tub of butter. My kids liked cold meat Sandwhich and believe it or not, I packed the dang toaster. There was no way I wanted to get up and take kids to eat at 7:30 AM. The cereal, toast or muffin to sleep until 9:00 AM.
Just a whole lot easier for me. I have p/u and or had cold meat, fruit, water, Capri Sun, OJ etc delivered.

The kids love a turkey Sandwhich in the parks with pretzels or veggie sticks instead of ordering something for lunch, or coming back from the park.

FYI, toasters are usually not allowed to be used in hotel rooms.

Your only choice for in-flight mayo application is to get some little packets from a restaurant and put them in your 3-1-1 baggie (or baggies, if you have multiple people in your party.)

You can put the mayo on your sandwiches before you go through TSA security; it won't matter at all then.

FYI it's been there unplugged on the table for over a dozen trips without an issue, sitting along side the elec hot water pot. If there was a coffee pot and microwave in there they would be unneeded.

Even with FD unless its just the two of us, they go. Ummm would taking the Foreman would be shot down?

While Disney will tell us that no 'appliances' can be brought into a resort room and used, I doubt anyone is going to take issue with a toaster or hot pot. Officially, not allowed, but many do it all the time.
Then again, there are those that use the coffee makers in rooms to make soup!

Regarding the packets of mayo, would they be allowed in the 311 bags? I don't think they indicate how much mayo is in each packet.

I would think so, since it's pretty obvious that they're under 3 oz.
I'm guessing OP wants the mayo for lunch in the plane, which makes perfect sense to me, considering airport prices :goodvibes
