Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

It is my understanding that the bulk of the baking will be done at the off site bakery they built in Kissimmee. It will be handling baked goods for online orders to be shipped and for the BW restaurant. The kitchen at the restaurant will handle the regular food items. The off site bakery, so far as I am aware, was completed a few months ago and may already be filling orders for shipping. I posted photos of the bakery under construction in post #188.
I wonder if the offsite bake shop will also fulfill William-Sonoma orders at least on this side of the Mississippi? Would make a lot of sense considering where her other operations are located.

Off topic, but isn’t Indiana still east of the Mississippi :)? Both of the other Cake Bake Shop locations are in central Indiana, Indianapolis and Carmel, one of its suburbs. Assuming that Williams-Sonoma orders are drop-shipped directly to the customer out of one of the (now three) Cake Bake Shop locations, which fulfills a particular on-line order may depend on availability at the time the order is being filled. Good logistics management software can probably manage that processing to maximize efficiency.

“Uhhhh…..it’s exactly where you say it is!” said the woman who sadly has never been further west than Ohio 😳.

And IMO that’s completely on topic 😉

Fun fact. Indiana is next to Ohio (on the western border). 😉

When I was last there Monday 9/16, the signs were all up and uncovered, lights were on at night inside, and there were quite a few workers visible around the place...exterior looks complete, and they were working on the inside which was starting to look like paint, lighting, etc were being worked on.

This is wonderful news. I want to go to WDW this December and this narrowed my hotel choice to BWI. Looking forward to the cakes.

This article says that the Cake Bake Shop is almost completed:

https://wdwnt.com/2024/09/cake-bake-shop-boardwalk-nearing-completion/
It might very well be, but this is just a blog with no real insider info. They are reporting that it *looks* to be nearing completion based on what they are observing from outside the fencing. They don't appear to have any knowledge of what the interior work looks like. I hope they are correct, but I would not base any major decisions on this!

I recall a previous report that was very detailed…and think it was from same site …would trust the reporting .
I think they had reported the owner was temporarily living in the area to make daily inspections and updates, etc… and posted many pictures of her in a hard hat.
Sorry too lazy to search for it.
Maybe they will provide a link …

I agree that the word Cake may drive some traffic away. While those who like cake may want to check it out, the name doesn't imply that it serves actual savory and cooked foods - so many may skip it entirely when browsing lunch of dinner options, because they might not even realize it has foods other than baked goods. I admit I thought that myself when I heard about it. While I'd still prefer a more pub-grub type spot, I'm a little more optimistic after reading some of their other menus, which do have salads, sandwiches, and hot meals - I'm willing to try it at least once and see before forming my opinions about it.

I haven't looked at the menu (I don't usually go over in that area to eat since they took the character breakfast at Trattoria away), but I agree. I would never think something called "The Cake Bake Shop" had anything other than cakes and would never bother to look at the menu as the odds of them making gluten-free cakes would be pretty slim - those usually require specialty bakeries (which hopefully are better than Erin McKenna's tasteless, dry stuff).

I believe there's always a gluten-free brownie and then there's one rotating/seasonal gluten-free cake option. When I was there last month with a friend who has dairy and gluten allergies, the gluten-free cake was black and white (chocolate & vanilla). Currently it's carmel popcorn cake.

I have ordered her frozen cakes several times through Williams-Sonoma. It will be nice to have fresh cakes in the lovely ambience of Boardwalk. I wonder if her restaurant has an upper level and if it is high enough to see the Epcot fireworks. 🎆
