bringing your own cake to a Disney restaurant?

We will be celebrating my daughter's 12th birthday at Disney and will probably be eating at 50's Prime or Yak and Yeti. Is it o.k. to bring our own small cake to serve at the end of the meal? While she would like a Disney cake, the prices are just not in the cards for us.

There was a poster on the boards some time ago who attempted to bring a previously purchased cake into Chef Mickey's for a birthday surprise.

They were ultimately allowed to bring in the cake. However, the guest reported being VERY upset that the restaurant refused to keep the cake in the kitchen and have it brought to the table by restaurant staff as a surprise. They had to keep the cake at the table and serve it themselves as outside food was not permitted in the kitchen. The restaurant would also provide no utensils or plates for serving the cake, which wasn't that big an issue since the guests could grab plates and utensils from the buffet, but the restaurants you list are not buffets.

Yak & Yeti is not operated by Disney and might do things differently than the Disney restaurants do but it may be common for a restaurant to not allow outside food to be brought into the kitchens.

I also do not know whether there would be any issues regarding bringing a cake into the park and carrying it with you. Unless you bring a small cooler, there would likely be noplace you could safely store it.

Good points! I think maybe we will do a birthday dessert at the restaurant we choose instead and have cake at home. We are locals who live 45 minutes from WDW.

Q.
Can food products from home be prepared by Disney chefs or Cast Members?
A.
Please note that Cast Members are prohibited from storing, preparing, cooking or reheating any food brought into our Resorts or theme parks by Guests.

Sorry

I think it's actually a regulation in a lot of places that restaurants can't store or serve food brought in by patrons.

1) Such is a health problem.
. . . diseases/germs could be introduced into the kitchen environment
. . . disposal is another issue
2) Besides, it cuts into revenue
. . . Disney sells cakes
. . . plus, it is inconsiderate to bring in your own food if such is also sold there

You could get a restaurant dessert to share. Ask for the appropriate number of forks or spoons and have a blast. More fun.

And then, back at your resort, have a cake fight. Even more fun. But, do it outside and have others not in your family join in. A girl turns 12 once and doing it at Disney can be fun.

Pretty sure it is only a Disney regulation as opposed to state or local.

Chuck E Cheese still allows cakes and they are located in Florida. While we have never needed a cake stored, if you are there for a formal party, the host or hostess will serve the cake.

I have also know other establishments to allow it in the state of Florida. (I haven't lived their in 4 years, so I don't recall a specifically named establishment other than that mouse kiddy gambling Mecca.)

But it is perfectly fine for Disney to not permit it. I just don't think it is against the law unless it is a law/regulation in the Reedy Creek District.
