I am hosting a bridal shower for my niece in July.

I am looking for ideas for a favor for the guests. I'd prefer it to be something useful or edible, not just a "chachi" thing. I'd also like ot keep the price to under $2.00 per favor.

I have been on a coule of sites and saw some cute things...one being hot chocolate packets that could be personalized with a little saying and the date. My niece loves hot chocolate (yes, even at 24!!!) so I was thinking it would be cute.

Check the dollar store--sometimes they have the 'scrapbook' travel mugs. You could personalize that with the shower theme, date, etc. Then you could also add hot cocoa, tea bags, etc., inside. I did this for my SIL's baby shower and they turned out REALLY cute! :goodvibes

I am hosting a Bridal Shower a little later in the summer. I am looking for ideas too.

We did cutely decorated bags of Jelly Bellys. Since they come in a huge array of colors, we picked those which matched the shower decor! You could also use colored, or even custom, M&Ms, but they cost more.

One of our family friends threw a bridal shower for me and had the cutest favors. She made heart-shaped sugar cookies and iced each girl's name on them--so they worked as a placecard and as a favor (they were in clear cellophane bags).

jars with the dry ingredients and directions for baking cookies are fun

mugs with cocoa packets, marshmallows and/or peppermint stick stirrers

little bags with m&ms the colors of the wedding (jelly beans or other candies work too)

attended a shower with something similar - giant cookies were the favor, and tied to the little bag was a cookie cutter

I love the iced cookie idea, and if you wanted to do more than that then the cookie cutter is a great addition. You could also include a recipe card with the cookie recipe on it.

I am a big fan of "consumables" as favors. So many people these days have too much stuff. And even though I think that ideas involving mugs and things like that are cute, I (and most people I know) already have so many mugs that I would likely just end up donating one if I were to get it for a favor. Something like a cookie cutter I would be more likely to keep because typically they are fairly small and are something I would use again.

ETA - Another option would be individually wrapped cupcakes. They are so popular these days, and I recently had one with a hot chocolate flavored frosting that was delicious. You could do something like that and include a recipe card.

I was gonna suggest the same thing. The cookie could be in the shape of the theme, or wedding bells, or something thats important to the bride. At the dollar area at Target I found these adorable white sheer bags, put some yummy candy in it, and tied it off with a bow that matched the shower colors. They tend to have wedding and shower items in the dollar section at Target as June gets closer.

I was a co-host for a bridal shower last weekend. As favors we gave away hand sanitizer and travel sized bath gel from Bath and Body Works. The bridesmaid dresses are a color called "Sweet Pea". We lucked out that BB&W has a scent entitled sweet pea. I think the cost of the items were about 2-4 dollars a piece. :thumbsup2

Well, the wedding is 2 days after Christmas :scared1: so her color is "apple" (we called it "red" in the olden days ;)). I was also trying to think of something with a Christmas theme. Somewhere I got a clear glass ornament filled with potporri as a favor, and I thought that was cute, but again...more "stuff".

Maybe a heart shaped iced cookie with a cookie cutter attached...that was a cute idea & @ least a cookie cutter is useful.

I just co hosted a brial shower. The theme was a Mad Hatter Tea Party. It was a brunch at a resturant (none of us gals lived close enough to have it at our house!).

For favors the MOH made teacup shaped cookies, iced (she is a baker and does cookies and AMAZING cakes...think cake divas). We then had tags that said "Thank you for attending Erin's Mad Hatter Tea PArty that had a tea cup on them, and tied them closed with a tea bag......Everyone LOVED them!!! And after we ate our cookie with some tea, nothing to clutter up our houses!

How about spoons dipped in chocolate?

You can buy the white plastic spoons & spice up the chocolate with peppermint or some other flavor or just plain chocolate to mix in tea or coffee.

I went to a wedding a few years ago & that is what they had as favors.

Or how about design your own candy bar. I do my own for my kids. On the back you can put little tid bits about her (and him).;

I was at a bridal shower not too long ago and the favor was a travel size hand cream from Bath & Body.

Oh man, what a time to be having a shower! :scared1:

How about a red 'apple' scented votive? If you want to put it in a holder you can get clear glass ones at ACMoore or Michael's by the case.

I love the Christmas ornament idea, although I don't know that I'd bother with potpourri. Pretty red glass ornaments of some kind, if you're crafty you can paint pen the bride and groom's name and wedding date on it. Wrap them partially in a piece of white tissue paper, and then in a clear cello bag. Tie with a pretty red ribbon and you're set.

Maybe a single red rose for each guest. The giant bouquet can be in a vase until it's time to leave. Each can have a tag tied with a bow 'Thank you for joining us for X's Bridal Shower' or just be plain. (Have paper towels handy to gently wipe the stem as you hand them out.) These are beautiful for a short while and then no one feels bad throwing it out!

Is it cold where you are? Pretty red mugs can be filled with a packet of hot cocoa or a tea bag and wrapped in cello. 'Warm thanks for sharing X's Bridal Shower with us!'.

Hope that helps...have fun planning! :goodvibes

what about hot chocolate cones? You take the plastic icing bags and you put one inside of the other. fill the inside one with hot chocolate powder ( I think we used a little over a 1/2 cup) use a twist tie to close the bag and snip off the extra. then add mini marshmallows on top. close the 2nd bag with a twist tie and snip it so it is neat. add ribbon. you can even add crushed peppermint to the coco if you want

Although I love the idea of a Christmas ornament of some sort, it would seem strange to me to get that as a favor for a July shower. Same with the hot chocolate, cute ideas but getting hot chocolate in July? Just doesn't seem right for the season.

We had a sunflower themed shower for my niece a few years back and the favor was a tiny clay pot with each guest's name on it and filled with something, maybe candy?....and maybe a packet of seeds to go along with it? I can't remember but they were awfully cute.

My daughter is having two showers thrown next month. I know one is themed as a tea party, and I love the idea of the iced cookie, especially having the bag tied with a tea bag.

I hosted a bridal shower in January and my DD made candy bar favors. She purchased the wrappers online and all we needed to do was put the silver wrapper over the Hershey bar, slide that into a personalized sleeve and then put hem in the cellophane bag that came with the kit.

We also ordered little personalized stickers that fit on the bottom of Hershey kisses and starlight mints (the color was also Apple) I used these in little red dishes on the tables but they would make a lovely little favor as well.

I know the cost, including the candy bars which we purchassed at Costco, was well under 2.00 but am not sure what it was. When we priced them already made they were $4.00 a bar.
If you are interested I will ask DD to PM you the website where she ordered the merchandise.

I hope this works, here is a picture of the favors.
