Does anyone have a map showing the "borders" of Disneyworld. I'm curious about the edges of the property and what kind of buffer Disney has given itself from the outside world.

You can get a pretty good idea by looking at the Disney property on Google maps. Just go to Google, click on maps, enter Walt Disney World into the search, and switch to the satellite view.

calling robo the keeper of the maps

I don't have a map showing the "borders" of WDW.
And on the satellite maps, even though you can look at everything from above, they don't designate
the property-lines.

I can tell you that Disney left a lot of distance from the PARKS to the "outside world."
It's not like Disneyland, where the property line and the parks are one-in-the same.

But, at WDW, there are some guest locations (like Downtown Disney) that absolutely edge right up to "non-property" areas.

The image below is about the widest area map that I have marked-up.
The overall property is still not fully included, however, as I built it to show the general
relationships of the theme parks, DTD, and many of the resorts.

In the past when we have driven behind the Magic Kingdom, Monorail maintenance station, Disney University and etc to go towards the Winter Garden Shopping Village, I have always wondered when exactly did we exit WDW property because they don't have any signs that say "see you real soon" like when leaving the other areas.

The gray area on Google Maps, not the satellite view, indicates the borders of WDW. Hey, there's my street.

You left that little plot of land where the Bonnet Creek Resort is. That's not Disney property. South of Buena Vista Drive and East of Epcot Center Drive.

So, according to that map Disney's Wide World of Sports is not on Disney property?
That's interesting. I wonder if there is some sort of connection between the WWS not being shown on WDW property and the fact the the town of Celebration became a non Disney entity. Or it could be just a Google Maps mistake.

Has to be a map error. I read that the land Disney offered for the HS Rail station is just east of EWWS, and that is also non-gray on the map. It also has the property line east of 429 on Western Way, and I'm pretty sure Flamingo Crossings west of 429 is Disney property.

BTW, the latest figure for the area of WDW is 25,000 acres or 29 square miles. 8,000 acres is set aside for conservation land. Source: WDW Library and Research Center.

Hmmm... where did I get that 47 mile number? I'd say it was a bus driver ;) but I think it was our DVC van driver!

The 25,000 acres is correct, but the 29 is a typo, should be 39.
25,000 acres= 39.06 sq mi.
Yes, you hear and still read on some websites that WDW is 47 sq. miles. I believe, not sure, that it might have been that large before the town of Celebration divested itself from Disney. It's about the size of the discrepancy.

I always wondered why Disney did not purchase that little plot of land? We stayed there in February, and it's pretty much, right smack dab in the middle of Disney World property.:confused3

In one of the WDW programs on The Travel Channel, they said 47 square miles. I remember hearing that when I was watching the show.
