Booking excursions through Costco

I have booked 2 Disney shore excursions for our family of 4 to do on our Nov 2017 cruise. I got an email from Costco today with a link to their shore excursion offers. I am curious to know if anyone has had good or bad experiences with using Costco for excursions? I am considering cancelling our Disney excursions Cozumel and Jamaica and booking with Costco due to much better prices. Pros and cons?

Thanks in advance!

Haven't used them yet but always look over their offerings. They do seem to have some good deals, but Disney always edges them out for us. Don't forget to use the code COSTSHRX for an extra 10% off if you do try them.

I didn't know about this service from Costco, the prices look great and if it's consistent with Costco's quality, I'm sure the service will be awesome too. I tried to book for my Now western cruise, and they still have the eastern ports listed, which is a bummer. But I iwll try them next time!

I looked at one for Cozumel for an upcoming cruise, but I think the pickup time from the port was a couple of hours after all ashore. I ended up not booking it, but recommend looking into the pick up times, if they eat too much into port time.

I booked a food tour for San Juan (city walk with about 6 food stops, plus just the right amount of history talk) through Costco's link. That was in 2014, and still one of our favorite (and most fondly remembered) excursion experiences out of the 3 DCL cruises we've been on - including quite a few more expensive ones through DCL. I like that the excursion site affiliated with Costco has customer reviews, so you can see what other people liked/disliked about it. Wish DCL site had that.

I just got back from 5 night Mexico Disney Cruise from San Diego. I booked the Dolphin Swim through Costco because it was my first Disney cruise and I was too late to book the Dolphin Swim through Disney. I made the best of the day but I was not happy about it. The excursion was for me, my wife and our 10 year old daughter. There was a HUGE difference in the Dolphin Swim offered by Disney and the one offered by Costco. The Disney version was at the Cabo Dolphins Center which was right off of the port where you get off the tender boats. Maybe a 5 minute WALK from the port. The Costco experience was much different. Read the emails CAREFULLY. Luckily, my wife asked me to double check the dolphin swim the night before we arrived at Cabo. I read the fine print and saw we must meet a driver by the OXXO store and we must be there early because there was a "45 MINUTE DRIVE" to the dolphin location. ***! The van that picked us up was running late because they sold dolphin excursions to people by the port area for cash and one person was late arriving and we waited forever at the OXXO store. The drive to the dolphin excursion was fast to say the least. The driver was running behind so he was hauling @ss. Luckily he knew where he was going because the drive through the city streets with dead end streets and construction zones everywhere. I would not recommend this excursion FOR SURE. I hope other Costco excursions aren't this bad. I would recommend just booking the excursions through Disney if at all possible. It's worth the few extra dollars to be taken care of the Disney way.

Just remember if you don’t book from Disney and excursion is late the ship won’t wait for you and you might be stuck where you are. Panama Canal trip this last one had to excursions come back late and we had to wait for them because booked by Disney. So you take that chance by booking with someone else.

For Alaska and Southern Caribbean cruises we have booked both costco and DCL excursions. I read all of the descriptions fully and the costco ones usually have reviews (or trip advisor reviews). All of the ones we did through costco either had other DCL cruisers with us or the actual DCL excursion. We have had really good luck using the costco site and it usually saves us quite a bit of money.

On th flip side is leaving the ship in the morning. A Disney booked excursion may get to leave earlier than everyone else to catch an early excursion. If you book an excursion that is early and you are late to it, good luck.
