I'm looking for a nice last meal at WDW. It's me, DH, DD (11) and DS (14). We are not on the dining plan. The menu at Blue Zoo appeals to me, but I haven't found a whole lot of info on it.

- I read one post that said there were no kids in the restaurant the night she dined there - would my children be comfortable? Or is it more of a romantic adult only type place?
- How is the food? The menu seems fabulous, but does it taste as good as it sounds?
- What about service - it's our last meal and we want to end it in style.
- I see that it's not a part of the DDP and it's not on Disney property, does this mean I can still make an ADR or do I call them directly to make reservations?

I'd appreciate any information you might have, TIA!

We've found the food and service to be excellent at Blue Zoo--we've eaten there five times now. Although there are probably fewer kids there than at many WDW spots, children are certainly welcome and we see them all the time.
You make an ADR thru Disney just like all other spots. The real name of the restaurant is Todd English Blue Zoo.
Here's a review of one of our dinners:

We've eaten there a few times with our kids. The food was very good. When it came time for dessert we sent our kids over to Seashore Sweets at the Boardwalk for ice cream while we had our dessert and settled up the bill.

We ate there in April. The food was just okay and the service was terrible. I would suggest the California Grille or Flying Fish over Blue Zoo.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Tonyspad: we're already eating at Flying Fish and CG, but thanks for the suggestion.

Sixcats: What a great idea! If the kids do get bored (which I don't see happening), they can always go hang out on the boardwalk until we're done.

Uncleromulous: Thanks for the link! I read your reviews on Flying Fish, CG and Jiko and based on your glowing reports we decided to dine at those restaurants as well. For whatever reason, this Blue Zoo review never came up on a search. In fact, I've already decided that I'm having the salmon at FF, whatever fish is the special at CG, and the halibut at Jiko. Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed reports with us.

Blue Zoo is a great choice. We've been several times, but not since 2005. There have been kids in the restaurant while we were there, but perhaps not as many as in other Disney restaurants. I think it's a very eclectic, modern, romantic type of atmosphere. The service is absolutely top notch. For years, we called Blue Zoo our very favorite restaurant. I hope it was a one time thing, but during our last visit there in 2005, the food quality just wasn't as good. Nothing horrible, just not quite as "fresh" or "good" - can't put my finger on it. So, we decided to give it a rest for a few years and then go back. You can make an ADR through Disney dining.

Thanks, Pam. I never really considered this restaurant since there is so little written about it. I was looking through the food porn thread and saw a few pictures there, from what I saw it does look delicious. I make my ADR's on Monday and this was the last meal I had to plan. Aloha!
